  1. Looking to start support group meetings in The central north Carolina areas. Anyone know of any? I am in Davidson County. I would love to start one where we could meet once a week or even just twice a month. If there meetings out there feel free to share! I would love to attend. This forum is nice but its always better to meet in person and talk about our experiences through this journey !

  2. I am 9 months post op.. so far so good... lost a lot of weight so far and I feel great... still working on seeing my surgeon for the follow up so he can evaluate my first set of blood work tests. My primary gave me an Iron prescription plus told me to take added Vitamin A. Anyway, I eat what I want , and definitely in small amounts. The only exercise I get is walking but I really need to start weight training to build up some muscle for my slightly flabby skin. Its not really bad but bad enough to where I would like tone up before thinking of surgery . My surgeon said don't do surgery until 18 months after weight loss surgery... Which means I still have another 9 months to go IF I decide to go that route.

Anyone have any good toning exercises with weights that I can do for my arms and legs ? Also any good butt exercises out there? Id like to tone it up a little too. Ive googled a few things but nothing really shows me from a weight loss patient perspective on what good exercises to do for toning up flabby bodies. They really need something like that on the web! A go to list for weight loss patients! I hope I didn't wait too long to start? Thats what I am afraid of. These past 9 months have just been busy and the weight has been coming off all on its on so I haven't started a major exercise routine although I am always active in walking. Lots of walking.

Also I live in North Carolina... I thought about starting up a support group and meeting once a week or twice a month. Anyone interested? I live in central Carolina. I would really even like to attend a support group if there are any out there on this side of the town ?

Please any thoughts or suggests for me? :)

@GlamGirl1967 I've had a couple. The main thing I've found is it takes longer to get cleaned out than a normie so starting earlier is a good idea .

I did the pills the first time but was told no on the second. I think it had to do with possible kidney side effects.

I sent you a PM as well.

oh wow... i am doing it the day before which is today. I did not start early... yesterday I ate a couple bites of pizza but that's it lol .. i just took 2 pills and now I'm drinking the mix and gatorade I sure hope that works for me? I don't eat much anyway so maybe its not much to clean out?

Anyway... I heard the ducolax pills are not good for kidneys too 😕 but one time taking them for this should not be bad , should it?

Now Im kinda worried, I hope i am cleaned out enough since I did not start early. 😕

They will be exploring an area that's far away from where the WLS was performed. It's pretty easy, I had it done. The worst part is the colon cleanse the day before. After that, it's a breeze. Good for you. An ounce of prevention.......

Thanks! thats what I was worried about ... them being close tot that area... so you have not had your surgery yet? I heard it's better getting the colonoscopy before weight loss surgery.

  5. Hello! I am 8 months out after my duodenal switch operation, I feel great! but now its time for a colonoscopy I am 51 years old so it's time. Ughhhh anyone have one after operation? If so any concerns? I am little nervous because I don't want them messing anything up concerning this operation. They say they wont know what kind of scar tissue i will have but they will see all that once they do the procedure. The prep will be hard since its hard to take down large amounts of liquids ... but the doctor told me to just take my time and start it earlier that day before . Again Im really nervous, I am just afraid of something getting messed up while they are in there.

    Preparing for DS surgery!

I’m preparing for DS surgery 11/8! Had sleeve done in March ‘17 as start of staging for this! I just love these Protein Drinks soooo much (pardon my sarcasm)... started from my highest at 464# got as low as 350, now maintain at about 360.

Hang in there folks! Getting this far has taken a lot of time, Dr appointments, phone calls... you know! It’s been a long road and the journey is just started! More to come as we go!

    great! good luck to you!!

You only have to take them separately when you supplement them along with multis. Multis are ok. I’m just referring to when you have to additionally supplement .

You can take them with other Vitamins (at the same time) but they can’t come in one pill (eg a combo Vit A and D pill)

ahh I see so me taking just the multi is ok i would assume? I was thinking i had to take D and A in addition to my multis i take a day.

The Bariatric Advantage has a High ADEK Multi that is specifically for DS patients. You only have to take 2 capsules a day. I also take 45mg Iron and 1800mg Calcium. My bloodwork at 6 months out was perfect with this Vitamin regimen. 1540413833547.jpeg 1540413864719.jpeg

I take 1800 mg calcium citrate, 3 Multivitamin ADEK, 30 mg Iron+C, and 5000 mg Biotin daily. My doctor recently suggested Vitamin B1 once weekly.

Hello MzNatalia, your regimen seems identical to mine except for the B1. I may start taking that too. The doc said i could if I wanted to. I haven't had my blood work labs done yet for 6 month post op but they are coming up. Do you take the B1 once a week or one everyday?
