I am just the opposite, I weigh myself daily to keep on track. In my mind it is easier to lose 1 lbs than 5 lbs if I gain any. I am l year out and down 85.5 lbs. I am at my goal weight of 115lbs at 5'2" and couldn't be any happier. Do what is best for you

    Good for you!
That silly little machine should not rule our lives or happiness.
My 4yr old doesn't know what the scale does. Every time he sees it he asks "Mommy, can I measure my feet"
My reply "Sure baby, get on there and measure your feet" 😉

This is great. I hate how sometimes I’m in a good mood and I step on the scale for my weekly weigh in and if it’s not what I’m expecting, or what I need it to be for my surgeons next goal then my mood is in the dumps the rest of the day. Maybe I’ll be able to put my scale away some day too.

I like your style. I think I wanna try this. I am addicted to the scale and it is so stressful. I'm doing well, but the need to check the scale several times a day is a bit much. I want to start weighing every few weeks. I hope I can stick to it. I think it will do me some good to just focus on how i feel. The weight will come off as long as I do my part. I think your idea is definitely worth trying. Thanks and good luck to you. You are doing great.

I had Lap band revision to VSG on 2/26/18.
I decided before the procedure that I wouldn’t weigh after. And I haven’t. The only time I’ve weighed was at my postop visit, where I was down 17 lbs. that was early March.
Before surgery, I watched a YouTube video that suggested not to weigh and I thought about all the times I was happy - until I weighed. I read all the posts here panicking about a stall. And I decided the scale wasn’t for me.
*HATERS STEP OFF NOW. DO NOT POST A REPLY IF YOU THINK THIS IS STUPID, BECAUSE IM NOT SUGGESTING ANYTHING TO ANYONE.*
It’s been really peaceful. I’m down 4-5 sizes, I log all of my food, but I have no idea what I weigh and I’m am SOOOOO okay with that. I’ll be weighed when I go for my next doctors visit, I know....but for now, I’m at peace. I know I’m working what works for me and I’ll do it as long as it does....
Just wanted to throw this out there for others to consider....if it’s not for you, more power to you. Do what works for you. I’m doing the “me plan” and I’m happy and healthy and so not stressed out about my weight right now. Taking it a day at a time....
Hope everyone else is working what works for you and at peace with yourself or well on the way...

Part of my pre op test was an endoscopy and it came up in that. I had never even heard of it to be honest but I had gastritis type symptoms for quite a while and the doctors suspected it was gall bladder issues which it turned out not to be. They then said it might be IBS which they didn't really seem to know what to do about. So when they came back and said it was h-pylori it made sense and it seemed like an easy enough thing to fix.
I assumed the antibiotics I had beforehand would clear it up and it was fine to take them then. It was only because the histology came back after the op and said it was still present that I have to take this therapy. If you had an endoscopy before your op I think you can assume you don't have it. Also I'm sure your surgeon follow up will give you info about your histology -it might not require an extra test. But don't worry about it, I'm having a hard time with this now but a lot of people have this and don't even know.

@2shea October is ages away the treatment is maximum 2 weeks and absolutely fine pre surgery! Good luck!

I was watching some episodes of Weight Loss Ward (UK, youtube) and the weight loss centre wouldn't even recommend people for surgery unless they had loss a set amount of weight in a set period of time. They wanted to see commitment and compliance.

I wonder if it's him who is actually wanting 'an easy way out', using the WLS as a means to force a break up?
FutureSleevie read your own post back a couple of times, now what would you ask/tell or advise a close friend or family member after you've watched them struggle with weight gain and maintaining losses for a long time, struggling with obese related health issues, struggling with making what is one of their most important decisions in their life? I am guessing you wouldn't be telling them they are taking the easy way out and that you would be a hell of a lot more caring than that.

Hi my surgeon is Gary Yee. Yes it’s a long preop but I have decided to do that so I can get use to the post diet and lose hopefully a bit more weight before the surgery.

I was sleeved 6/22/17 my highest weight was 330 weight day of surgery 319 today I weigh 195. I do fluctuate between 195 to 200. I went from a size 4X and acsize 26w pants now I'm a size large top size 12 pants. I still wanna lose 20 more lbs. I have taken on a more active lifestyle trying new things. I just did a 7 miles hike last weekend. I would have never done that before. I would have had to of been stranded in the desert with the Oasis 7 miles in sight to even think about it before. I walk, hula hoop, dance, anything to keep moving. If I find myself having a lazy day I tell myself you are not this person anymore. Find something to do. It's just a new way of life. I never want to go back. First pic is my before at 330lbs

    I'm glad you're feeling better.
It's not true that you have no one to support you. You have us. And believe me, we're a lot.
It's true that weight loss surgery sucks. But you know what sucks more? Not being able to walk up stairs. Not fitting in airplane seats. Not fitting in a restaurant booth. Not being able to be as physically intimate as we'd like to be. Not being able to walk into a store & buy clothes. Getting stared at. Having people make comments. To me, those are all way worse.
You are not alone. Good luck!

I have thought about doing that several times, and what stops me is 1) I don't want to have extra pounds to loose pre op and 2) Me personally I would have a guilt trip to live with. My surgeon said don't look at this as a diet, you have been there and done that, look at this as a new start to a new you That is what keeps me going....

Woke up this morning and did my daily weigh-in and was excited (and relieved) to finally be under 200lbs! I've been bouncing around the 200 mark for over a week. Weight is now 199.6...just barely in there, but I'll take it! lol. Getting below 200 was my first major goal since having surgery on Jan. 11 (down from 243 day of surgery). I've also gone from a 38-40 in pants size, down to a 34 inch waist. Really glad I had this surgery!

Oh, and apparently my belly shrank more overnight (possibly because Aunt Flo finally nicked off). These pants were still fitting loose on the legs but ok yesterday, this morning when I quickly put them on to do school drop off they almost fell down again! I'm going to have to retire these ones now too.
105kg on the scales and falling, 10 kilos lost pre op, and 6 kilos lost so far 2 weeks post op.

I hit 2 weeks post op today and get to have purees and soft foods now (but no bread/rice/pasta). WOO FREAKING HOOOOO!!!!!! *does happy dance*

(commiserations to those stuck with liquids/purees only for longer periods... I loved my Soups, but was really craving stuff like fish and steamed broccoli!!!)

Tonight to Celebrate I'm having my parents and sister join us for dinner, and I'm cooking our family favourite poached Australian Salmon (bought a few fresh whole Aussie salmon from Cappos seafood yesterday). I expect I"ll only be able to eat a small portion of just fish... but it will be amazing... and I'll try to get in some steamed broccoli later for supper. The others will have mixed salad and special fried rice with their big portions of fish. It should leave me with plenty of fish for lunch and dinner tomorrow too
