Frickets got a reaction from 50+ssallday in November sleevers
    Had surgery yesterday...sleeve.
Nothing to it. Only 1 incision is a bit sore. I've been walking all over this hospital.
Only complaints are sore throat from the tube and dry mouth.
    I start on liquids today

Frickets got a reaction from Taylor5 in IBS Before Sleeve Surgery?
I had IBS prior to surgery. During the liquid diet I learned that I was lactose intolerant and had to switch to lactose free milk for my shakes. I'm now sure that was a leading cause of my IBS all along.
I'm 4 days post surgery and my digestive tract seems to be working 100%. If that changes... I'll update this post.

Naysayers gonna naysay... thats what they do.
And have they ever taken on a challenge like the one you are about to? I doubt it. So.... they have nothing to offer on the topic.
Your post tells me you have done 2 things exactly right. Researched your surgery and raised and excellent daughter.
Keep going the way you are going. You are going to do great!

There is not a food I have tried that I cant eat. Some sauces and dressings give me a bit of acid reflux, but nothing major. I have been lucky, Steak, chicken, fish, beef Jerky, eggs, everything goes down fine...

OK I had a bit of a setback. I am lactose intolerant. Been for years. I tried many products before surgery and they sat ok with me. Typically whey isolate is ok VS the other whey. Greek yogurt typically doesn't bother me but non-greek does. Well....I had pure diarrhea early this morning for at least 3 hours non stop. I KNOW I cannot afford to lose liquid like that. I'll get dehydrated. I have not yet managed to get to 64 oz or more a day. I thought I would be able to no problem but I cannot yet. SO....I decided to go back to liquids for today and kinda reset my gut. I asked my nurse if I could become MORE lactose intolerant and she said absolutely. So no dairy, whey, yogurt or even lactose free milk for me today. I'm FREAKIN STARVING. At least I'm getting my liquids in! I am BEYOND ready to move to puree stage. I can't until after Nov 29th meeting with surgeon. At least then I can get in chicken and fish for Protein and not rely so much on dairy products. This NOTHING but some form of dairy for almost a week was my downfall today. I will try at least ONE meal with Protein Drink tomorrow see how I feel. I'm terrified of losing what little hair I have left so I need that protein. As far as incisions, nothing has ever pained or hurt me. I walked my dogs daily. Yesterday I did 3 miles. Slower than normal but 3. Today I did a shorter one because (a) I'm back working and (b) I almost felt like I had low blood sugar from not eating. Nov 29th...HURRY!!

HI... I'm new here too. My journey started last January when I first talked to my GP about getting a referral to the bariatric program at our local hospital (things work a little differently here in Canada), and my doc was so excited that I asked about it I thought he was going to fall out of his chair. It took a few months to get into the program, but now I have appointments once a month with different people (my nurse, my surgeon, nutritionist, mental health, etc). I know there are a lot of hoops to jump through ... just had my gastroscopy last week. All good! ... but I'm hoping that I'll get a surgery date sometime in the spring or summer. I have a wonderfully supportive husband and 2 great kids (7 & 5). Most of my friends and family are supportive, but some have accused me of 'taking the easy way out' (haha... as if). I'm looking forward to getting to know people on here, and following their stories.
