  1. Congrats!
SleevieInNewJersey got a reaction from FluffyChix in Motivation after the first year
I totally struggled around the same time in my journey. I knew I needed to start getting serious about exercise if I wanted to get more weight off. I got myself an apple watch and started activity sharing with my friends and chasing after the built in "awards". Well, i'm now down 180 lbs. and I attribute the last 50 or so to getting my ass to the gym and competing with my friends.

Everyone is a little different. When I was on liquids I had 4oz at a time. No reason to rush anything. Finish what you can. At your stage you're all about healing.
    Good Luck!

Like many have said, Life isn't about food at all anymore. It's about living life and not worrying about every single little thing that we as morbidly obese worry about.

Been using triamterene-hctz for a long while now. At first I had some calf cramping, but adjusted by drinking more Water. My friend who is Dr. of Pharmacy recommended switching out table salt for that pink all natural salt you can buy online (probably in stores too) as it has tons of trace minerals. Haven't had cramps ever since. The triamterene-hctz also slimmed my legs down from swelling. No real side effects to speak of now. Wouldn't worry about it at all.

To know for sure, you need to look at the exact wording of the company's policy bulletin covering WLS requirements, which should be on their website somewhere - that is your bible. Insurance companies, and even different policies sold by the same company in different locations, can vary widely, though I can't see them being so picky that a week one way or the other would make a difference - there has to be some allowance for scheduling.
On mine (which was with Aetna, which probably is different now than it was then,) while they implied monthly visits in their "six month physician supervised diet/exercise program" it was not specifically required, and due to scheduling issues between me and my PCP who was my "supervisor", we only wound up doing four visits, and that went through fine. The devil is in the details.

I also have UHC. they didn't give me a hard time about that kind of thing. but call them and make sure they're looking at YOUR policy when they answer you.

Oh, the time of the month does not matter. It is only matters that you went that month as scheduled. If you miss a month then it messes up your progress.

I think you were told right but they tend to,be real stickers about the 6 month rule. Might as well stick it out than to make waves.

I feel you on the fear. I was there not too long ago. I have been making excuses to my primary care doctor for the last 5 years. Then the blood pressure meds got prescribed, the thyroid meds got prescribed and the glucose started to creep up. I went from saying "what if" something went wrong during the surgery to "what if" I don't address my obesity.
In my case and in what appears to be your case as well... the what ifs for surgery greatly out weigh the what ifs against surgery.
Most surgeons have monthly if not weekly informational seminars. That did it for me. He presented the success % numbers with vs without WLS.. also met people who have gone through the surgery. Maybe check out a seminar or a local support group to calm your fears.
We are all here for you!
    Cheers,
    Rob

I would seriously discuss this with your surgeon. Everyone is going to have their own opinions. At the end of the day a decision should be made based on your medical conditions and need.
I asked my surgeon the same question and he told me that even at my weight he would recommend sleeve as the weight loss results are mostly the same and complications are far less than RNY. He leans more toward RNY for the positive outcome it has to treat patients with diabetes.
    Hope that helps!

I am a 66-year-old female. Like you I have been having my whole life. I had my surgery 3 1/2 months ago, and I’ve lost 47 pounds. Not a great weight loss but great for me. You have to change voices in your head. Every morning look in the mirror and say one positive thing about yourself. This is something I have to do to. Try to be as positive during the day as you can. Small steps. You can do this for yourself. If family is not there to support you I am.Be strong be brave be hopeful. Don’t let anything or anyone come between you and your goal. You will find away. Love and support to you!
