    May 2022 surgery?

Racefan, are you back to your pre-op weight? The weight you achieved after the liquid diet if you had one? I’m post op day 5 and I must still have surgical gas lingering, I just made it back to my weight I achieved for liquid diet. No additional loss 🤷🏼‍♀️

    May Surgery Buddies

5/6 was my RNY as well. I am sleeping half the night in my bed and the rest of it in a recliner. I bought one of those college pillows with the arms to keep me propped up and easier to make it out of bed. But my back starts to hurt since I can’t side sleep so I come down to recline about 4a or so. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    How people around us eat

I was sleeved in 2017. The sound of my coworkers chewing drove me bonkers and I’d never even noticed before. I’m post op day 3 RNY. So far no one is eating around me so idk! 😳

    TMI question 🙋‍♀️

It happened with a little help from miralax 🙃🙌 thanks all!

I was 5/6 too. My incision where the drain was hurts the worst. Nausea is tolerable. Walking helps feel less stiff and full of gas. Passing gas and burping are highly encouraged to work all that air out. My program has us doing 30z clear fluid until tomorrow. Tomorrow has to be 50-64 clears and we are allowed 1 Greek yogurt.
  6. Yesterday was my sleeve to RNY. Less pain overall but still painful where the drain is and gas pains. Walking has been easier. Ice chips are easier. Nausea sometimes gets me. Will keep you all posted with process and success!

    May 2022 surgery?

I used ramen, beef, and chicken broth the most.

    Absolutely hate myself now

I’m reading a lot of things that sound like suicidal ideation in your comments. I’m a clinical social worker and should you be serious and not just grieving/processing the new lifestyle you have… Suicide hotline: 800-273-8255. Open 24/7

    May Surgery Buddies

Yes! I’m on here as well as a support group for my surgeons office and additionally a Bariatric support group for where I actually live (my surgery is 3hrs away from home). So good to have a variety of resources!

How long are you missing work?

I’m taking 3 weeks off. I was sleeved in 2017. At that time I arranged 2 weeks off. Didn’t feel ready to go back to a job on my feet most of the day, so I took a 3rd. This time I’m starting with 3 weeks. I’m sleeve to RNY on 5/6.

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)

I had to take a mucinex last night. Not supposed to take many meds, if any, on the LRD but the mucus was making me gaggy and nauseous 🤢 took a covid test this AM, negative thank god. Just a cold or allergies. Not good timing! 🙄

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)

@colocoral, I think a lot of surgeons still do the liquid/clear fluids diet because it shrinks the liver so significantly and makes surgery that much easier. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Anything that makes my surgery safer is doable for me. Thank goodness it’s only 1 week.

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)

I think 10 lbs is likely! I was told 12-15lbs on the LRD for my weight.

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)

I’m hoping those on here on the LRD are doing okay 👌 while I’m tired, I’m not dying as much as I thought I would. Chicken broth is helping a lot, something hot to break up all the cold liquids is nice. I’m using almond milk in shakes or fairlife, Powerade zero or protein2O dragon fruit flavor, and chicken or beef broth. I haven’t needed to “chew” so I didn’t buy any popsicles or SF jello. We are doing this!!!!

My hell week starts tomorrow (April 26th)

I’m alright. Minus the tension headache. I’m out of caffeine withdrawal (did that last week before the LRD) so I think my body is just mad 😡 🤷🏼‍♀️

    May 2022 surgery?

I’m so sorry your liver shrinking diet is so long 😭 mine starts Thursday. Procedure is 5/6

    Confused by Consult

I’m a revision from sleeve to bypass on 5/6. The sleeve gave me awful GERD and some regain. If you have GERD already I’d get a bypass to avoid the likelihood of having to revise.

    Kinda TMI question...

I was spotting the day of my sleeve back in 2017. I had a pad in, mentioned it to the nurses and they just asked “is it maxi?” 🤣 turns out you can leak a little during surgery anyway soooo yeah. Pad was not a big deal.

    May 2022 surgery?

Whoever said “more anxious” I am right there with you. I have more energy now that I’m 15 days away but it’s definitely anxiety based 🤣
  24. So I am doing a sleeve to bypass on 5/6/22. I remember when I had my sleeve I did have some hair loss. I can’t remember how bad it was though. Wondering if anyone with short hair post op had issues with hair loss? Wished you had more hair to avoid signs of hair loss? My hair is down to my mid back and it’s truly time for a hair cut in general, but I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just because hair loss is probably coming 🤣

    Fluid Intake

Yep. My liver shrinking pre op diet starts 4/29. I started trying to get the 64 oz each day as of yesterday, to practice. My god I was in the bathroom SO many times. My body is used to being dehydrated. So I hear you, it is work!
