  1. Hi bubbles. It’s going really well. Last checked down 18lbs. I know a lot of people here call it ‘feeling restriction’ but to me that feel like a negative. No one wants to feel restricted. But what I do feel is ‘full’ when I have eaten enough. I used to feel full only when I had eaten way too much. This was my goal, so I’m happy so far. Plus I have yet to feel hunger - another plus. 2. Hi Bubbles-- I so understand what you're feeling right now. Been there so many times, and of course it's a viscous circle - we overeat, and gain weight and feel like crap about ourselves and guilty and all the rest, so we eat more and on and on and on. It took me a long time to decide whether I was going to do ESG. It's a big move! This isn't just another diet, or drug that you can just stop. It's a physical change that is going to force you to eat less. I can only speak for myself - but I was at a point where I was so sick of being out of control and not being able to eat normally, that I took the plunge. I just made the leap. I could have overthought it and probably would have stopped myself. Especially if I started to lose weight again on my own- but I knew that it would be temporary. Take your time. Talk to the nutritionist. Tell her about the phen issue. It's an important decision. You'll do it - or not - in a time that's right for you. AmyA
  3. Hi all! Been a few since I updated - for some reason was not getting posting alerts like I normally did, and when I logged on it said there was site maintenance - anyway... As a reminder I had my ESG on Nov 8, and was losing every day- last I posted I was down 16 lbs- and as of last weigh in two days ago, I hadn't broken past that. I've been up and down 1.5lbs for the last week or so - part of it may be that I've def had some constipation issues- and despite taking Miralax nightly- i'm still backed up. Also after such a quick loss, my body prob is trying to catch up- so we'll see where I am in another day or two. Today starts week 5 which is the same as week 4 when it comes to the food- started to add soft vegetables, and i'm told soft fruit is ok too but I have not ventured. If this helps anyone in the pre phase, the nutritionist and doc say to eat protein at each meal, not to eat fruit or veg alone - must be combined with protein. Biggest challenge is being out and about and being able to eat outside the house, I've been lucky that I'm between jobs at the moment - which is why this was the best time for me to do this, but last night I went out with friends and bopping around NYC- all I could do was carry a couple of shakes with me. Need better planning- will reach out to nutritionist for ideas. Hope everyone is doing great - AmyA

Sure! As of this morning I’m down 16lbs from my first consult visit when I was 159. This morning I was 143.. . I should have but I didn’t weigh myself morning of the procedure. I would guess from then it’s been 12 or 13lbs since then Nov 8.

Hi Bubbles! Yes insurance covered my visit - I have a $50/copay but it took forever to get them on the phone so I waited at least an hour or more before I saw her. The restriction is going well- I'm pretty good about keeping my intake to 4oz or less at a time- except for the shakes which I do tend to drink more without having any issues- I do feel full with those. My calories per day have been ranging fro 700-850 and I am trying to add some fats now to get that up to at least 1000/day per nutritionist. I'm taking a multi chewable- and calcium chewable. I take Centrum Silver adult 50+ which aren't bad - kinda taste like sweetarts. The calcium I bought a big bottle of caltrate chewables but they are awful- tart/chalky - so after checking with nutritionist , she said I can get the chocolate chewy ones- so ordering those. No probiotics or fiber supplement. I have been pretty stopped up lately but after a couple of days of Miralax that seems to be getting better (and it really is tasteless so mixes with Vitamin water well).

Hi bubbles! saw your other post so I am all filled in. Sorry to hear about having to wait. Dec 15 isn’t too far away and the holidays are always going to slow things down with vacations etc. At least you got the ball rolling. Hang in there! I had to wait as well but it was Because of their calling and trying to get my insurance to approve the visit which it did.

ESG date is Tues Nov 21!

I’m at 2.5 weeks in and just added soft foods. Turkey burger. Cottage cheese. Had a scrambled egg this morning. Gotta say, hunger remains at bay. I agree some must be psychological. I’m down 16lbs from this start of this journey so I am thrilled. Thought I would really miss carbonated drinks but this is helping me kick my Diet Coke habit Hardest thing for me is not drinking anything at a meal and getting enough calories in.
  12. Hi everyone, I have my procedure scheduled for November 8 - one week away. I'm nervous and excited and hopeful after reading so many of these postings from people who have had ESG. I'm wondering how people are dealing with emotional eating- I know stress can be a trigger for me. Amy

    ESG Consultation 11/28

Hi Hope4mom Dr shariah might have mentioned long term results but I don’t remember to be honest. It’s so new that I’m not sure you’re going to get much data. As for my weight, I’m 5’1 so that gives you a bit more context. BMI 30. I’ve been overweight all my life. as high as over 200 about 17 years ago and last few years been in the mid 150s down to high 120s and back again. Was sooo tired of this neverending battle, and never feeling satisfied or full unless stuffed. And that lead me to this non surgical procedure I had seen on nightly news.

    ESG Consultation 11/28

Hi Bubbles. I just had the procedure done with dr shariah two weeks ago. I can tell you how happy I am to have done it. I love dr shariah and the staff, nurses and other doctors at Weill Cornell are fantastic. If you want, I’d be happy to talk to you on the phone about my experience. Just send me a private message. Btw I started at 159 and have already lost 14lbs.
  17. I like the Atkins shakes and just tried the slim fast advanced nutrition - 20gms protein/1g sugar/ 2 net carbs/180cal - Caramel Latte is delish!

    Procedure scheduled for Nov 8

Hi Hope4momof4! The procedure went off without a hitch. I was heading home after a few hours in recovery. No nausea (Doc prescribed anti-nausea patch which I put on the night before). The first couple of days I was a little gassy/crampy, but it really was minor and another 'scrip helped with that. Returned Monday for blood work and xray to make sure there were no leaks- which there aren't. I'm now one week out to the day and I am feeling great and I've dropped about 10lbs so far. yay! I'm so happy I did this. So far so good! Amy

So far I find the Atkins RTD the best for me. Prefer the chocolate. 15g protein.

    November sleevers

All done! Procedure at NY presperterian/Weill Cornell with dr Sharaiha. Went great. Arrived at 8a. Everyone super nice. Taken into room at 9:30 and then it’s over. Groggy coming out. Was in postop for about 3 hrs. No nausea just discomfort at first and gas pains that I felt around the stomach/back area. Came in waves but quickly dissipated. For some meds and we took a Lyft home to NJ. So far so good!

    Endoscopic procedure

Congrats Connie115! Sounds like you are doing great! I'll be at Weill Cornell in less than two weeks. Were you given the patch for nausea? That could be what is causing the dry mouth. Please keep posting updates - I sent you a private message.
