    About me... HW 300+
    Gastric sleeve - August 2016
CW 152 - haven't done body fat analysis in a while and haven't had plastics so I'm sitting around 28%
    Age 57 - female

    Lifts currently
Squat - 235 on the road to max at 250 in 2 weeks
    Bench - I don't
DL - 235 on the road to max at 250 in 2 weeks
I take an Olympic Lifting/Crossfit type class 3x weekly. I lift to support my passion - fencing. I'm ranked 23 among US women age 50-59 in foil and headed for my first ranking in saber in my age group. I'm ranked 33 among women over 40 in the US in foil and #16 on the list for the Veterans World Cup Team (so 12 people have to get hurt or die before I can go.) I fence about 7-8 hours a week and compete almost every weekend.
I do reformer based Pilates for an hour a week and work with a personal trainer another hour a week. We are working on building my upper body strength which is lacking. I can't quite bench 100 pounds yet and can probably do a single overhead press of about 100, but not sure.

There is a lot of info on the net about working out. I suggest first getting the book, Strength Training Anatomy with all the pictures. It's full of info that you can use at the gym.

5 days a week of traing is hardly excessive. Nor is 7 days, if you are doing it right.

When you go to the gym, you need to group your muscles together that you are doing to use. Like leg day, back/biceps, chest, shoulders and triceps are three different days, and you can have 2 days between each day or combine two of them together for three days. They need to be grouped because so many muscles rely on other muscles. A shoulder press is pushing the same muscles that the back can use. You need a rest day for the entire muscle group, of at least than one day. I go to the gym 6 days a week, two day rest between each group. On the rest days, your muscle tissue that was broken down, is being rebuilt. Don't keep breaking it down of you will suffer an injury.

That aside, your trainer was a dumbass.. obese people should not start with body weight exercises in my opinion. There are two many machines that can be used with light weights, or even light dumbbells. There are also cable machines that can be use in place of machines and dumbells. Cable machines are my favorite because you can use them to better approximate real life movements for specifically c activities like sports.

Maybe the loss of fat all over your body instead of a blood dyscrasia . I have been having bruising without remembering any bumps, falls or trauma that could produce it. My PCP just laughed, said it probably is just a facet of getting older, not only have you diminished your fat padding but your skin is naturally much thinner. Oh well, my over-active imagination had me developing leukemia, he keeps telling,me my RNY has made me a much healthier person and then immediately sends me off for yet another testing. And I have appointments set,up for my ears and eyes,v2 areas he as yet had missed. I want one of those labels like they put on the inside of car doors stating the date of my Last Servicing! Perhaps center it on my Forehead where everyone can readily see it!😛🌈🌺🌼🌸

    Hi Skyguy,
How did you get your running endurance back after the surgery? Can you tell me a bit your training?
I am about 6 weeks post op. On week 1 I walked 3 miles, tiring but no issues. Week 2 and 3 I tried to jog and hit a wall at mile 1 (pre op I had run a 3 miler same course no issues). Yesterday (6 weeks post op) I tried again and jogged for 3 walked 2. I was very tired at the end but alive.
Would you mind telling me what your daily food intake is like and how many miles you are running per week etc?
    Thank you!

wjgo got a reaction from FluffyChix in Big Name Meal Plans...anyone a year or more out try them?
I think if someone wants to throw away all their progress and just say "f$&@ it, I don't care, I just want to pretend I care" they might try them. Those prepackaged diets are light on Protein, and high on carbs and have unacceptable amounts of sugar. Nutrisystem does not even highlight the amount of carbs in their meals.
I am a year out, and I wouldn't dare use them. I have old nutrisystem boxes, even unopened ones. I have maybe one or two of the meals a week only because it's food I already bought. As for all my meals, I would consider it the same as suicide, because I consider the surgery as having g saved my life. And, I still can't eat a whole meal.
