Codedsub got a reaction from Orchids&Dragons in Upset, cannot get in water or protein
I had rny and gallbladder removal May 2nd. First two weeks... great! Water Protein in ,no problem.
I am 1 day shy of 1 month and doing and feeling miserable. Most days I can get in 35 oz of water approx. But protein is usually less than half or worse. I cannot take Vitamins because my stomach is empty and water is very hard to get in somedays, like today. My stomach hurt, I feel overly nauseous. Very close to tears. I typically have a high pain tolerance... but not for nausea. Acid reflux hurts and I am already up to two doses a day.
Waiting on doc office to get back to me. I dont know what to do.

I check costco first for everything I never need and they have this:
    https://www.costco.com/Muscle-Pharm-Combat-Cookies-%26-Cream-Protein-Powder%2c-5-pounds.product.100099591.html
I bought one barrel and loved it so much I went back the next day and bought two more. I'm still pre-op and don't need to do a full liquid diet before surgery, but these work great with my low-carb diet.

I have a good friend that does approvals for BC/BS. While they are not my insurance carrier, it was interesting to see the process from her perspective. She said that she rarely if ever denies bariatric surgery if the BMI is over 35. The rest of the hoops you jump through are just a formality. My surgeons office knew exactly what I needed to do and how to submit each part of the requirements. I needed a letter from my primary doc stating she had supervised my diet and exercise for at least 6 mos. They didn't require a log or any notes. There was no minimum weight to be lost prior to surgery either. Your surgeon's office should be your best resource.

Yes. My work switched insurance companies in September and I had 12 months of medical appointment plus psychological and a bunch of other stuff. The new insurance accepted everything and I had surgery in October. I don't think it matters which insurance you used before but rather did you meet your current insurances requirements. I was worried too but it was fine. Turn in everything and see what they say.

So here is the thing, my job covers my insurance (Regence Uniform Classic --- love it!), however, I had Molina before this. Currently, Regence requires me to have 6 months of nutrition visits with a (Nutritionist, Dietitian, PCP, whomever) that is once a month for 6 consecutive months within 2 years prior to surgery.
This is the thing, from August 2016 - February 2017 I had to call a Nutritionist at Molina once a week and they paid for me to do my weigh ins at Weight Watchers which i had to send them the results each week (I still have the booklet as well showing the weigh ins).
I plan to call Regence tomorrow, because technically... this surpasses what they are asking for. (Molina was once a week and Regence is asking for once a month, Molina was 7 calendar months whereas Regence only wants 6).
Anyone here do something like this before? Did your insurance accept it? (Since its technically what they are asking for...)

Absolutely. It does happen even if women do use birth control (anyone not believing this for whatever reason: look up pearl index). She's not the first woman and won't be the last so her team should know how to deal with this to make sure mother and baby are getting healthy thourhg pregnancy.
    ---
Regarding not getting pregnant after WLS for a while: So far I've read 2 years and 18 months on this thread. The hospital I got surgery at advises women to not get pregnant within the first year.
In sum: another issue without a reliable guideline to follow.

It was ill worded Shareen. You can disagree, but it does not change that it was rude. It is not advised to get pregnant within 2 Years of bariatric surgery, however, it does happen and it is simply recommended to get to the doctor and that you will need to follow strict guidelines to ensure health for both mother and child. There is also a higher risk of miscarriage.

You didn’t “suggest” anything. You said “get an abortion”. That’s a directive. You followed it with no other words whatsoever. Also, I’m sure she is aware of the option to abort the child. Your saying “get an abortion” offered no help, no compassion, no insight, no helpful advice in any way. You were trying to upset people and looking to troll. Thankfully, they don’t seem to allow this type of behavior here. Have a nice day.

As of October 12, 2017, I am 4 months post op and have lost 100 pounds. I have reached my goal weight and could not be more ecstatic!

I had GERD before my surgery, and all my gastro Doctor did was to prescribe me pills.
My VGS surgeon cured my GERD by fixing Hyanial Hernia. She said it was one of the worst she had seen and it took her over 45 minutes just to repair. My stomach was up in my esophagus and had to be pulled down. I have had zero issues with GERD since. I do take an anti-acid in the morning called OMEPRAZOL but was told that I could stop taking that in a few more weeks after my esophagus and stomach heal.
I found a few simple tricks to keep the acid down. I don't gulp Water I sip it very slowly. I drink water with lemon. I chew my food and when I think it is time to swallow I chew some more. I found that well-chewed food reduces the acid in your stomach because it has less work to do. I wait four hours between meals to allow what I have eaten to fully digest. Also, I had to learn what full was. It is now a GERD like feeling just under my breastbone. Once I feel that slight discomfort I am done eating not even another bite.

Introduction to the team, weigh-in, some have a short video about the procedure, maybe meet with the NUT (nutritionist), maybe set all your appointments going forward, and answer your questions.
Such as - how many surgeries has he/she performed, percentage of complications and most prevalent ones, what kind of staples, what kind of stitches/glue on the stomach incisions, etc

My surgeon is Dr. Myur Srikanth from center for weightloss surgery at Chi Franciscan. His practice is separate from the hospital but affiliated with it. All my testing and my surgery was done as an outpatient at Chi Franciscan. Love him. Great bedside manner. Had wonderful experiences with all my nurses pre and post op.

My initial consult was March 2017, surgery initially scheduled for July but for personal reasons I had to push back to August 2017. Your consult to completion will be dependent upon your insurance requirements. Not necessarily the surgeon’s timeline.

Chi Franciscan is also awesome when it comes to appointments for all the required testing. I was able to do it all in one day. (X-rays, blood, scans etc)

    Good luck to you.
