  1. Ok so I Had Gastric Bypass on Monday Sept 24, 2018. The Surgeon said everything went well and that I should be going home the next day.  The next day came and by abdomen was so distended I could hardly breath. I was up walking doing everything thing I was suppose to but it was literally the worst feeling ever. My abdomen was as hard as a rock. They kept me an extra day because the bloating was putting me in some pretty intense pain. I felt like I was 10 months pregnant. I guess it was because my intestines had not woken up yet from the anesthesia, to start the process of eliminating all the gas they pumped into me during surgery.

However here I sit at home  Sept 27 2018 finally released still feeling full but defiantly not as bad as the previous 3 days.

So I guess my question is. I have had nothing but water and watered down juice for my 3 days in the hospital. How it that I went up almost 5 lbs. Does anybody have any idea Why?

                                               Thanks Faith

It is most likely just due to fluid retention from the IV, etc. Things will start to drop very soon. Just keep focusing on your recovery and sipping water/juices, etc.

  2. I'm a little over 12 weeks post op VSG. My starting weight was 283 (HW was 329 so I'm almost at 100 lbs lost) and this morning I'm at 229.6. Started with a 44 waist, 3XL shirt, and now in a 36 and in between a L or XL shirt. I find myself buying clothes more often now (probably more than I should), but something about being able to walk into any store and find clothes that I both like and fit well is something very foreign. Before surgery, I was limited on where I could shop and what I could buy. It's a very strange feeling still, but so very awesome. I'm hoping to get down another 40 lbs or so to 190 by summer. Every day is a new day, and still figuring out the ins and outs of my new stomach. Food intake remains very minimal, but can get liquids down with no problems. I've even had a couple of drinks over the Holidays, which I monitored closely.

  3. How the hell do you update these silly Tickers!!!!

Click on the drop down menu by your name and then select "My tickers" and then select "edit ticker." Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and select "continue" and then on the next screen "continue" again. You will then see a page that has your starting weight, current weight, and goal weight in which you can then edit. Edit any numbers and then hit save. This should update for you. Let me know if you have any problems!

The best app for logging food and exercise that I have found has been My Fitness Pal. The list of foods is incredible and very easy to use.

  5. Today is my first day back at work since my surgery 10/16. I thought I had thought about everything and returning to work, meals, protein, water, etc. One major thing I didn't think about was me getting dressed for work this morning and putting on slacks that I wore pre-surgery...they looked ridiculous and were entirely too big. It was awesome and stressful at the same time. Luckily, as I rummaged through the closet I found a smaller size that I kept for some strange reason, and while still a bit baggy, they were much better. Guess I'll need to get a couple pairs of slacks tonight to get me through the next month or so, then swap those out. What an awesome feeling to get rid of clothes for being to big for a change.

I work full time, usually 8-4 in a professional setting, so slacks, shirt, tie, or polo daily. Today is my 5th day back and all has been great so far. Just keeping up on my liquids and protein. Thankfully, the owners are understanding and supportive so I can do as I please for the most part.
