    Christmas day check-in.
I started a new workout plan this week. Link to the plan is posted below, I am doing the Six Days on 1 day off version with Fridays as my off day. I'm up about 4 lb since last month, which I believe it's mostly muscle based on results. Currently eating about 2800 calories per day ensuring at least 150 to 170 grams of Protein per day.

I feel like this far, my back is what I see the most noticeable difference in as far as muscle mass:

Some update pics from today's session at the gym.
I've been battling mentally with the reality of eating enough to gain muscle. Though I know I need to, anytime I see weight GAIN on the scale, I freak a little and subconsciously pull back on my diet. This week I gained about 3 pounds and I'm trying hard to be OK with that.

A bit about me: I had the sleeve surgery in December 2017 period. I've lost a total of 181 pounds since last May, and now I'm looking to gain some muscle mass. I'm currently sitting at 225lbs pounds and 6'2.5" tall.
So many unanswered questions of not been able to find good responses to. Things such as how to start eating any calorie surplus now that I want to add muscle. Will I be able to eat enough to add muscle? Follow me on this thread and I will track my journey for any others that may follow the same path.
    Starting status:
    8/17/18 - 225lbs

I'm still around, but haven't been able to work out in about a month due to recovering from plastic surgery. I have about another month or go before om cleared to work out.
I haven't been very active on here as I'm a little salty that BariatricPal's Mexico hospital screwed me out of a $1,000 deposit after their surgeon left their company. I don't want to get into that in this thread, or the admins will just delete this thread like they did the others where I've discussed it.
    Update pic post plastic surgery:

Le than 60 days until my scheduled plastic surgery to remove all this loose skin. Been working on building this base. I'm already dreading not being able to work out for 8 weeks post-op

Still going strong. My lifts are still increasing, though I'd say not nearly as quickly as when I first started. Same could be said with building muscle.the first 6 months it seemed like muscle packed on quickly. It seems to build much slower now. I'm still working out 6 days per week.
A couple of bathroom selfies tonight:

So... 4 months later and my lifts have increased to (5x5 sets):
    Squat: 325
    Deadlift: 310
    Bench: 195
I feel like my deadlift is easily the one I have the the most progress with. My squat has improved, but it's a battle every time. My bench seems to be my worst/hardest lift to progress.
My goal is to get to 1,000lbs combined between all three lifts on my 5 rep max by the end of 2019.

Good to hear! I was the same with more soreness instead of pain. Don't be in a rush to get those drains out. You'd rather have them for a few weeks versus getting a seroma! I had 4 drains total. 2 of them came out after about 10 days. 1 came out at about a week, and one was in for almost 3 weeks! I had to keep them in until draining less than 10ml per 24hr period.

I had plastics in May and also got the fleur de lis as I wanted things as tight as possible. We had planned on doing abdominal wall repair to tighten the muscle, but when I woke up from surgery, he told me that my abs were already very tight and did not need any muscle repair. He said this was likely due to my weight lifting routine which includes lots of squats, deadlifts, and other core exercises over the past 18 months or so prior to surgery. So, yes, it's possible that you do not need muscle repair, but I don't know how your surgeon would know that before he opens you up and sees it. It's likely he's just assuming at this point. My surgeon said less than 5% have abdominal walls tight enough to not need muscle repair after massive weight loss, and they're most always male.
I've attached a picture for reference, but I also have a few videos of the procedure if you're interested as well. One of them includes where he's working on my abdominal area and speaks to not needing muscle repair. Just send me a private message and I can send them your way.

I've ran into issues with getting the required amount of Protein to build muscle. I rely on supplements such as Protein Powder, PB2, etc. added to foods for added protein and calories. Look into nuts as well. Also all drink 2 Protein Shake per day to get it in.
Is not easy with the sleeve... That's for sure.
