The first week out I started feeling sick after not going for 7 days. They took me in and gave me an enema because it was impacted. Going forward I've had Movicol not sure if it's called that where you are. Ingredient is macrogol it's a powder you mix and drink. Having 3 extra surgeries shut it down again due to anaesthetic and pain meds. I had another enema last week and just for a while have to take double movicol. My Dr added in a softener called Actilax because a lot of times after surgery that what you need more than a laxative. The advice I was given was to go in stages prune juice fibre movicol glycerine suppositories over the counter enema etc A lot of people use milk of magnesia first off. If it happens they will find something that works. I just needed the enema twice due to it being sleepy. Good luck with your journey take care [emoji3]

I'm 57 had the RNY in Aug 10th 17. So far I have lost 110lbs. I have a fair bit of saggy skin especially on my bat wings and legs. I have had a few bumps in the road like kidney stones requiring further surgeries. I feel that at the moment my face looks older but I've just had 3 surgeries so Could be that. The one thing I would stress is make sure that you drink all you Water and the first sign of any toilet issues treat it straight away. I have had chronic Constipation and never had it before. Keep up the Vitamins. I just added liquid hair nails and skin tonic because I noticed a bit of hair coming out in the shower. Stopped again so might have been a false alarm lol good luck with the journey. Overall it's been great and I would do it all again.

I remember pre-surgery wondering if I would be successful. And I was. To those struggling with the same concerns, know you will be successful. Though no one can predict possible side effects, my surgery was a major success and I’ve had virtually no issues or complications. since April 2017 I’ve gone from a woman’s size 22 to a size 14. Lost about 105 lbs.
I don’t have the stellar full body before and after pics, but the picture below is the best before/after I can find Surgery was the best thing to have happened to me, good luck to all who are on the same weight loss journey

@Marcy13 I found a liquid Tylenol on Amazon I was thinking of getting. I don't know if it will be necessary or not, but was thinking it might be good to have just in case. It is for adults, not for kids

Those struggles are real. It's always been distance for me. I see a parking spot and mentally measure how far it is from the door!

I came out of hospital 12lbs heavier than when I went it! Once my body shifted all the Fluid it started shedding weight. Had a stall at about 3 weeks then week 7 I was rushed to hospital with sepsis and kidney stones. Over the next 4 weeks I had 3 kidney surgeries with pain killers. That meant very little weight-loss lots of fluid and terrible Constipation eventually requiring a full enema. Now that's all sorted I've started losing again. RNY Aug 10th 17. Pre-surgery I was 367lbs I don't have the weekly breakdown. CW 257lbs so a loss of 110lbs in 15 weeks. Even with the bumps in the road I'm really happy.

One thing that struck me yesterday as I was out running errands... I am going to Celebrate the day that I don't look at a parking spot and say to myself "Well, I can get the car in there, but I won't be able to get out of the car". It's something completely random, but I want that day! I'll know I've made progress.

    Well.
I did not wait long. I resumed drinking about 6 months out I think. And that was a big mistake, at least for me.
Alcohol effects me differently now. If I haven’t eaten enough I get DRUNK FAST and I’ll blackout. It’s bad. I had to learn that the hard way.
It’s also takes the place of food calories because I struggle to drink and eat together so it becomes a choice between drinking or eating. And I need the food more. And you do too!! Especially early on.
I do love wine but even three years out I try and limit my alcohol intake. I’m careful about it.
I can see why you want to drink and I wouldn’t think in moderation it’s a problem. But it could possibly slow your weightloss. For me, it did not slow my weightloss but I oddly tend to lose weight when I drink. Most people gain from it.
But if you are feeling healthy I don’t see a problem with having a little in moderation here and there, maybe a Glass now and then. I’d say in the first year you can just be very cautious. and don’t let people on here bully you. There is a nice way to give advice and trollish ways. Just remember the people on here, they are all hungry and sober AF.

It hasn’t been a topic with my dr because I know I can’t drink carbonated drinks and we have discussed alcohol because I told him I wasn’t worried about drinking .. I’m 3 weeks out it was just a question I had for people that drank earlier

I agree small goals are the best goals. I know I said I want to be 220 by Christmas but that's just what I would like! I'm not going to be disappointed if I don't as long as I'm still losing. I think it's important to Celebrate small milestones especially when you are having a stall or feeling a bit low

GwennyPenny got a reaction from RJrocks in Surgery date 11/27; Surgeon says if liver too fatty, they will do sleeve instead of bypass. Anyone encounter this before?
Not personally but I know that's why you have to stick religiously to the pre-op diet. If the liver is fatty it will be inflamed and larger than usual. To do the bypass they need to be able to work around it to re-route everything so it's important that it's flat. That said I had adhesions which were expected but once in there he realised my liver spleen and stomach were fused together but he still managed to do it after spending the first 2 1/2 hours separating the organs so I wouldn't worry too much. They will work it out

I think it depends on what you can swallow. I found round tablets a bit big and kind or dry but the long ones or caps were fine. If you start out on opioids like oxycodone or codeine just be mindful of Constipation even if they didn't do it to you Pre surgery they might now. I was also told to stay away from all NSAIDs like nurofen voltarin celebrex etc as they can cause ulcers.

In the beginning I didn't really have any particular goals as I wasn't really sure what to expect. As I have gone along I have celebrated little milestones as they come up. For Eg I was able to buy underwear from a regular store instead of paying a fortune online. I went to a friends house where I previously struggled with her toilet but this time I fit easily. Fit in chairs at venues. While shopping I can stand a bit longer walk a bit further. Lots of little things along the way not just the scales. My story so far RNY Aug 10th 17 HW 407lbs Pre surgery weight 367lbs CW 257lbs so a loss of 110lbs in 15 weeks. I'm really happy with that! My current mini goal is to be 220lbs by Christmas maybe a bit ambitious lol What are everyone else's goals? What have you celebrated?
