You are truly lucky! Most bandsters struggle to find the "sweet spot" and some never do. The band can be a great tool if you have the fortune be able to live with it--I wish continued success for you.

WTF?!? People are messed up. I know it's cruel and people should mind their own business. The important thing is that you did it for YOUR health and well being, not theirs. It's how YOU feel about it that matters. The internet is a harsh place, people can say some cruel sh*t and hide behind their anonymity. Try to ignore these low-lifes and focus on your success.

JRT Mom got a reaction from elless in Anyone pre-plan to only have lapband a year?
If he can find someone to put in a lap band in this day and age, taking it out a year later would just be setting him up for failure as he would be likely to gain the weight back, unless he is SUPER disciplined with his diet. Instead of removing it he could have the fill pulled out, so if he starts regaining weight he could have it filled again.
But put me on the list of people who thinks he should research band statistics and compare them to sleeve or RNY. Whatever he decides, good luck to him! Keep us posted...

You wanna lose 150-200 pounds instantly?? Kick him to the curb!!😉
I know that is a terse, non comforting comment, but your post makes it clear that this man doesn't have your best interests at heart and is in this relationship for his own benefit. I am glad you followed your own desires to improve your health by WLS. If you want long term happiness you may have to question y'all's relationship. Ask yourself "will I be better in five years with him or without him?" and then follow your heart.
Good luck, we are here for you!

Absolutely listen to your team’s advice (they have seen it all) but ultimately the choice is yours. I understand the knee jerk reaction anyone can have from gaining especially after working long and hard to lose. But IMHO the goal is healthy, whatever that looks like for you ❤️

You may naturally gain a little anyway If you are more that 2 yrs from surgery (or when maintenance begins) Weight loss should slow down eventually if you are not actively trying to lose. Congratulations on making it to goal.

I understand your concerns, but you should follow your nutritionist's advice (and possibly also see a therapist). I think you need to focus on fuel and energy, not empty calories. So if you need to add 200 calories to your diet, add some fruit to your Breakfast or add some complex carbs like oatmeal or brown rice to your meals. Don't eat something that you know might trigger you, like Cookies or ice cream.
    Take care and good luck!

Hi guys, I've never thought I'd be able to hear this in a million years, but my nutritionist wants me to gain a bit of weight by adding 200 more calories a day, I'm not anorexic, but it scares the sh*t out of me to make myself eat more food than I already am. I'm a long-time platelet donor with the Red Cross and if I drop below 110 I can't donate any more, so I have the motivation, but I know from years of dieting that one the weight comes back on it really comes back on.
Have any of y'all had this issue and how did you deal with it emotionally? Thanks, y'all are the BEST!

JRT Mom got a reaction from lizonaplane in Should I lie on my weight for nutrition classes?
Well, it's not really a lie if you really weighed that during the evening, but your final weight after your classes is going to be the really important one, so I don't think you'll be denied for the day-to-day fluctuations you'll experience.
Also, my insurance also didn't care if I lost weight during the preop waiting period. They just wanted to make sure you did the nutrition classes so you'd have the proper tools after the surgery.
    Good luck you you!

JRT Mom got a reaction from Bazinga12 in The Lord's Supper
True story. I visited a friend of mine who invited me to visit her Catholic church, so I went. Catholics believe in something called Transubstantiation, which means the wine and unleavened bread are the literal blood and body of Christ. Well, when the congregation went up to receive Communion, I just sat there. My friend asked me, "Aren't you going to join us?" I leaned over and whispered, "No, I am not into cannibalism..." She was laughing so hard she sat out herself, since it would be rude to laugh in the priest's face...

JRT Mom got a reaction from KelliG2020 in Anyone use Dr. Fitzer at Virginia Bariatric?
Hi KelliG2020. I just had my one year anniversary and couldn't be more satisfied. I was only aiming for a final weight of 140 and now weigh 120. Jessica actually wants me to start eating a bit more! That's the first time in my life anyone had told me that...😄
I can't say enough good things about Dr Fitzer and his team. They've changed my life.
Good luck to you with your own journey, keep us posted!

I'm a guy but hope this helps. This came up as one of those "memories" timeline photos - MAY 2019 vs MAY 2020 on the same day. Surgery is a helpful tool, but you have to put in work as well! (VSG not bypass - but same concept)

first picture was me before I started my six-month supervised diet (2014). I think I was at my highest weight ever. Second picture (from 2017) is of me when I was two years out of surgery (this was before I had my skin removal surgery, though...I had that in Aug 2018 and March 2019). Last one was of me on my 60th birthday (last year). I've put on some weight since the 2017 picture - but excess skin is gone!

These are extremely trying times for anyone, much less one going through weight loss. During the day try diversionary tactics--take a walk, watch some TV (but dang it, the food commercials are brutal...) The nighttime munchies are tougher. Talk to your dietician and see if you can incorporate a very small night snack into your total food consumption for the day. As long as you are still losing weight it probably won't hurt, although eating and going right to bed can certainly give you heartburn.
Alka Seltzer had these chewable heartburn gummies that have some melatonin in them. They do have 30 calories and 6 grams of sugar per dose, but they will help you sleep.
    Good luck--you got this!

I'm only only 5 months post op (sleeve), but I had to post this! HW 308, SW 288, and current weight 198! Yes!!! I've made it to onederland!
I know I haven't had as much to lose as some others might have, but this is really exciting! Haven't been this weight since I was 14! It's been a hard road, and it ain't over yet (well, it never will be, really), but it's great to finally be here!
Plenty of NSVs along the way! No more meds for blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglycerides. No more snoring at night. Went from a tight size 44 waist to a loose 34.

JRT Mom got a reaction from Katiebal_Lecter in Lap band to gastric bypass
When I got my lap band 11 years ago I lived on this forum (I think it had a different name then, but I can't remember what it was). There was lots of current for then information about the band, but it was a new WLS, and we all were so excited and happy with our bands! I lost 80 pounds then and thought it was the greatest think since sliced bread. But there was NO long term results or issues arising yet, so none of us knew what awaited us down the road. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have wasted 10 years dicking around with the band and would have gone straight for the bypass.
