I'm waiting too! As hard as it is, remember that God has the timing in His hand and if you can wait, and prepare yourself emotionally, mentally and spiritually you will rock this journey!!!!

Well, I've been on a couple of the forums, but darn, there's a lot of attitude here. I get the whole hormonal thing, and Lord knows, the hunger thing, but I need support - not serious negativity!!!

I just joined this site yesterday and I was surfing the forums, and I couldn't help recognizing all of the fighting...is this normal? My doctor recommended this site as a source of support as I start this journey, but I'm not so sure. Is this site always so negative?

Thanks XYZ. I was very honestly not wanting to create a stir, I really wanted to know if others felt supported and edified. Believe me, I understand that there are jerks in the world, but I am in a place right now where I want to set myself up for success, not agitation.

I never went into chat rooms or forums -- it wasn't my thing. I was seriously concerned though when I came on here yesterday to a "support forum" and read where someone said if they had a 9 mm gun they would shoot the other person in the head....! I don't believe that the keyboard and anonymity is free reign for people to be abusive. I think that's cowardly!!!

Thank you all for your honest answers and welcoming behavior. I know I'm here for me, and I won't use the excuse that "They're mean so I can't go there" as a reason to fall. I'm in, I'm staying and I'm taking no prisoners, except that emotional eater inside me. I plan on making it this time, no matter what.

While I understand that Veronique, you would certainly think that "normal" people wouldn't be talking about blowing peoples heads off with a 9 mm!!!! Childish....

My plan was 6 weeks post surgery. I didn't even crave it, to be honest. I didn't want anything! But, now that I can have it again, I am happy to be drinking it again. I still don't crave the caffeine, I just want it. And it's a great natural diuretic for any Constipation. It sooo helped me.

The nicotine in your Vape will impair healing too. Ask for help from your doc if needed. Chantix worked for me, but can be hard to tolerate. Be strong. You can do this! Good luck. It's life changing.

I just started on this journey and the first thing I did was was to buy some smaller clothing and hang them up so that I can see them at any time as a positive reinforcement for me!!! I can't wait until I can get into them (and look good). I'm looking forward to not laying down on the bed to zip my pants

BECAUSE the last one was such a bust, I guess I worry about Murphy's Law repeating himself. i hate failure. My doc is pretty confident because when i had my stapling it was new and not well done. He stated that he is not surprised that I failed last time because it was not a proven message at the time. He says this is no problem, together we've got this. I really like him and grad onto that faith!

I understand I really need to give up the vape for the surgery and I will,, but the marijuana is medically necessary. I use them under my pain docs orders instead of opiates (which my body does not metabolize) and I know I won't be able to go off it. My pain doc would kill me.

I'm relatively new here too. I've seen some of the negative remarks and just skipped over them. I personally have only had supportive comments written to my post.

I had surgery in 2014 and then a revision on 9/1 of this year. I have noticed that the site has changed considerably between my first surgery and my second (more trolls/fighting) but I think it's still a very valuable source of information and support if you can look past it. I agree with @OutsideMatchInside that this is just part of the nature of the internet, and you have to take advice from strangers on the internet with a grain of salt. There are lots of nice people on here though, and I would encourage you to reach out to individual posters for advice and support. Good luck!

That's not bullying, @jaminator gave some pretty sound advice. We all have our ups and downs, our highs and lows. Hell, my emotions could come crashing down tomorrow. This is why I've set myself up with resources. I have two therapist appointments set up for this month (the first being tomorrow), my therapist's practice has a walk-in clinic I can access if need be, I have access to my GP, and I have a nurse line I can phone at the surgeon's office. I prepared for this surgery because I knew I was going to have it and my surgeon, his office, and the staff at the UCHealth Bariatric Centre of the Rockies properly prepared me for this surgery.
But even if they didn't, it's still my responsibility to know. Even if they just told me what I needed to do to satisfy the insurance requirements and sent me on my way, it's still my responsibility to educate myself on what I'm about to do. I have been on this forum for over a year despite having had my surgery almost two weeks ago and this isn't by accident. I wanted to make sure I had multiple perspectives on what could go wrong; I took notes; I asked my surgeon, GP, and dietician questions; and I formulated a general plan as to how I would live after I got out of the hospital. That plan is subject to change, but I did plan.
