For any others who may search for weed or cannabis plus bariatric surgery there are a few more points to consider.
Coughing after surgery is painful. When I had my gastric band it was painful to cough for awhile afterwards. If you decide to use again, take very small green hits from clean accessories and don't hold it in.
Speaking of clean, be very careful with the quality of your flowers and accessories. It can be easy to introduce a bacterial or fungal infection into your body from tainted products.
And also speaking of coughing, it very likely will make you barf post op. At least in the beginning.
A form of edible to try that may be more advantageous to you would be a mouth spray or tinture. The THC is absorbed through the mouth rather than the small intestine where edibles like baked goods, candies or soda is absorbed.
While cannabis may aid in physically healing, it may disconnect you from the psychological healing. Post op is the time when you are learning your new stomach and digestive symptoms as well as reshaping your approach to food. You will want to be paying very close attention so that you can get the most out of the post op honeymoon phase and be as healthy as possible.
And lastly, because of the disconnect in Federal verses State laws, if you need pain meds for any significant amount of time, be prepared to hear from the doctor that you will need to start piss testing clean from cannabis or they won't perscribe anything for you.

I had my stomach stapled in 1991 and lost maybe 40 lbs. It wasn't worth it...now I am going to have an RNY soon, I hope, and I'm a little nervous. I gained back all my weight from the stapling, and I'm worried it will happen again. Did anyone else feel this way?

Thank you berry 78. It makes my heart a little easier to hear what you said. Honestly I didn't know where to look it up at! But I was worried that I was going to put myself through massive surgery and have no results. That would be absolutely unacceptable!

Hi Sue! I'm 55 an I'm in the middle of preparations to do my surgery. Granted I don't have the distance problem you have, but I STRONGLY SUGGEST you stay near your surgeon for 2 to 3 days to give your body a chance to know if anything is wrong. I choose to be healthy for the rest of my life, which is how you are feeling, I'm sure.

I had a gastric bypass in April. I'm down over 70lbs since surgery and I feel great. Tonight I went public about the surgery so I felt like I was coming out. I feel good about the progress. The comparison is crazy to see. Because you don't see it day to day.

My first pic is just after surgery cause I didn't have any before good ones.

Started at 237 and that was heaviest.
Surgery was 4/11/17 I didn't have to do preop diet cause I needed to maintain.
2nd pic is 7/25/17. 60 lbs down weighing in last week at 177.

I want to be somewhere between 150-140.

This gives me hope for the lower weight! You look amazing. I would have never guessed that was you in the first picture if I saw you now!! I'm only down 30 lbs since surgery but 57 all together.

1) You shouldn't change your answers to a psychiatric evaluation. Most decent professionals / questionnaires will test for patient understanding / intent / honesty / malingering.

I did mine online. The lady that I talked to, actually had the sleeve herself. The one I used only does Bariatric psych evaluations, so they totally get how important it is. It was just like a conversation with a friend. You will be fine!

I haven’t had a psych evaluation online, but depression is considered one of the hallmarks of being obese. In other words, you’re normal. 😀

I'm going through a revision from an open stomach stapling in 1990 to an RNY full Gastric Bypass. In the early days they didn't move the intestine and have found that that was the key. Doc is worried he is going to have some issues going around the old scar tissue and mesh. I'm a little worried about that, but I'm in your boat - I lost some, but never all of it. Now I'm back to my pre-surgery weight and I'm sick of it.
