OmaJ got a reaction from Shells_Almost_There in 6 months post op Lapband revision with Gastric bypass
Praise the Lord, I'm 6 months post op, and very thankful my diabetes was reversed as well as severe reflux I had prior to surgery! My weight loss has been slow with many 3 week stalls, and my surgeon recommends I have to increase the Protein intake, as I slacked off of Protein Shakes the last few months. (Just got tired of them). I'm back to having a Protein Shake of 30 gm. plus what I get in foods to hopefully increase wt. loss & slow down Hair loss. Overall, done well down 50 lbs. & Hgb A1C is 5.4 (also off cholesterol med. since surgery, but lab levels creeping back up, keeping a watch on it)

@Newme17 those Mary's crackers are SO DARN GOOD. I couldn't believe the first 3 ingredients were rice, flaxseeds, and quinoa! It really goes to show how delicious herbs can make things! And I love how crunchy they are.

Hello all...made this awesome Soup today. I do not like potatoes in soup, or much of potatoes at all, unless it’s sweet potatoes. But anyway, I used gnocchi instead. Hubby LOVED it and so did I. Yum!

I'm anxious to hear what is said about Gene pro too, as it's on my list of approved Protein supplements, and I'm doing well with it twice a day. I love that it's unflavored & I add it to crystal light, dissolves great. I'm 2 weeks out Lapband revision with Gastric bypass.

I have a very similar one I'm using, since I'm on soft foods & can't have nuts yet:
    Healthy Cookies
Pre heat oven to 350 degrees
    3 Mashed Bananas (ripe)
    1/3 c Applesauce
    2 cups oats
    1/4 c Almond Milk
    1/2 c Dark chocolate chips
    1 tsp Vanilla
    1 tsp Cinnamon
    Bake for 15-20 minutes.
Thank you for reminding me, they sound good, can't wait to try one!

I made a Veggie Butternut Squash Chili recipe this week tweeking 2 different recipes. (One was the sweet potato recipe on here). It turned out SO tasty & I've given some to loved ones and had it several times myself (sticking to my 1 cup limit - sometimes I just have half a cup).
So I used the following ingredients:
Cubed butternut squash (found in produce section)
1 can of low sodium black Beans drained/rinsed
1 can of Bushes Chili Beans medium
1 can of Pinto beans drained/rinsed and blended in Ninja blender
    1 can of Mild Rotel
1 can of Hunts diced basil, garlic & oregano tomatoes
    Diced garlic (2 heaping Tbsp.)
    1 Tbsp chili powder
    1 1/2 tsp. Cumin
    1 1/2 tsp. Paprika
    1 tsp. Oregano
    4 cups vegetable broth
First sauteed a mixture of: diced onion, celery, carrots found in produce section. Then added the rest of the ingredients brought to a boil, turned down heat to simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The next day I added in a cooked sweet potato diced to the leftovers. Delicious!

I had gastric bypass a year ago and have greatly benefitted from the support in this community. For my December 2016 buddies - I hope everyone celebrates this year — congratulations!
It has been a great year because aside the obvious weight loss, I have learned discipline. Not in not eating - I physically have been required to think about eating differently, but discipline in taking care of myself: drinking enough Water, eating Protein, being a hawk with not missing Vitamins and chewing, chewing, chewing.
I'm not sure if my photo is attached, but I was humbled seeing the difference in a year. If you are at the beginning of your journey, hang in there, be patient and be proud of your investment in yourself!

I guess the best advice would be to stick with the program and prepare for the mental aspect. I still struggle mentally sometimes, not that I give into my cravings, but for example I went to the Asian grocery store. which was one of my favorite places to load up on sweets and pastries. it was mentally depressing looking at all the foods I gave up to get healthier. I would have preferred to avoid this situation.

Hello Newme17! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes & for creating this site! I was sleeved 3 mos ago Aug. 16. As I started to add solids foods back into my diet I found that I can no longer tolerate All pork meat, cheese, eggs & now yogurt. Even greek yogurt! So I decided I would try eating healthy vegan style but I didnt know how to get started as well as to how to make sure I get in my recommended amount of protein(60-80g) daily! Any suggestions?

God bless you, it's been a long, tough road, but you've shown there's light at the end of the tunnel! Praise the Lord for blessings and your miracle testimony! You look amazing and so thankful you're on the road to continued good health! Thank you for sharing. One of my goals is walking the 5K Susan G. Komen in November to honor friends & family breast cancer survivors.

God bless you, YOU are a walking miracle! I'm glad you mentioned that your surgeon had never done the bypass also, it's good for people to research the surgeon's experience. To say you've been through an ordeal would be an understatement! God blessed you & pulled you through! So thankful you're finally recovered & enjoying better health & life!

My Dr. REALLY likes his pts. to take Miralax (can take 2 Times daily if need be for awhile). I'm 2 and a half months out & still need it most days, once a day. There were a few times I took Senna S at night too. Miralax really made a difference.

I am THRILLED with the health benefits thusfar, after seeing my Endocrinologist today! I had surgery over 2 months ago (9/5/17) and my lab results were wonderful! Hgb A1C is 5.7, and have been off weekly Trulicity injections since just prior to surgery, Cholesterol 168 total (HDL, LDL good), Triglycerides down from 168 to 101 and my weight down 30 lbs. - I've had a few wt. loss stalls, but can't complain! Absolutely NO reflux since surgery, and it was severe before. I have been off Cholesterol med. since before surgery & can stay off. Praise the Lord, I feel very blessed!
