It’s definitely harder for me to drink Water in the cold weather- so I drink a lot of tea. I always have earl grey and milk at my desk at work. And at night I love my mint tea with stevia. I also stack my car up and have a bottle here and there in my work bag and purse. If the water is not quickly accessible to me I don’t drink. Maybe that will help.

Ya. I got bored of this site. Had a bunionectomy 6 weeks ago and I’ve been on a Facebook group about that- it’s been way more fun looking at people’s Frankenstein feet! Just came back to say hi. I’m 64 pounds down. Thought I would Gain cuz of surgery and no cardio - but I have been doing barre class with modifications for broken foot AND I LOST 7 pounds since surgery.
Ps. My fave all time drama post here was when someone got upset about typos and basically calling people stupid. That was cra cra.

I have some bad news for you. No bariatric surgery will cure your medical issues. All it will do is force you to eat less for about a year. Sure, there may be some palette changes, or maybe dairy will suddenly become difficult to digest causing lactose intolerance, or you may develop gerd; but for the most part the surgery doesn't change a person medically speaking. Only the medical conditions brought on by poor diet will be affected by bariatric surgery. (e.g. High BP, diabetes, cholesterol, etc...)
Unless there is a medical condition with the stomach itself, there is nothing that bariatric surgery will cure that diet alone could not as well. The surgery and subsequent honeymoon phase help cement new food habits.

Some days I can eat a lot at one sitting. Like this morning after working out ( had a Protein Shake beforehand) I ate a whole egg white spinach wrap from Starbucks. Normally I can eat 1/2 and just the inside but o was starving today. Yesterday was the opposite. I could barely eat 2 baked falafel and lettuce from sweetgreen’s for lunch. Then I had 4 rice crackers with Peanut Butter and that was it for dinner. I had a Protein Bar mid day. So sometimes I feel like I didn’t even have surgery. Other days I get so ful so quickly and can’t believe others are still eating. I’ve lost a little over 60 since aug 22 2017.

I’ve had the same lunch every day this week. I take ground turkey and add garlic, egg, a little cream of wheat or oatmeal ( to bind), Greek spices, salt and pepper. I mix it together. Then add finely chopped mushrooms, onion, yellow/green zucchini. I make 4 oz patties - which include the veggies. Then I broil in both sides. I eat cold or warm. I add a little ketchup and mustard, a few butter pickles and diced tomatoes. I had one for dinner tonight too! They freeze well. And they are solid enough to fill my pouch and moist enough to not gag.

Is there a planned parenthood you can go to by public transportation? I’m sure they would do a pregnancy test for free because of your age and financial situation. Good luck to you. Everything will work out for the best even if at this moment in time it feels like life sucks.

dreamynow reacted to greygoosecytosis in for fun! what was your 'last meal'?
I was self-pay, so I didn't have to meet insurance requirements. I didn't do much of a pre-op diet either.
Two days before surgery, my "last meal" was divine--- it was Thai food. Red chicken curry with mixed vegetables, a taste of drunken noodles and to finish things off the right way, one scoop of carvel ice cream in the flavor, "Cookie Butter"!
I was a little paranoid to eat my "last meal" the day before surgery as I felt it was too close and kept things pretty mild the day and night before.

dreamynow reacted to Brandi. in 4 Weeks post op - I don’t want to do this anymore [emoji25][emoji25][emoji25]
I have been debating on posting all of this because I’m tired of living it day to day
I am 4 weeks post op and feel like this is the most horrible decision I’ve made. Here is a list of what has been going on :
    - I am unable to drink anything other than Water and sometimes apple juice or popsicles. Anything thicker comes right back up. broth, flavored drinks, etc will not stay down.
    - I have acid that brings me to tears and wakes me up at night (all night), it makes me feel like I’m going to vomit fire. I am currently taking Prilosec, Zantac, Carafate, and Magic Mouthwash.
    - I’m exhausted because I’m not consuming any Protein or other nutrients. I’m exhausted because I try to sleep sitting straight up. Any incline makes the acid worse.
    - I feel like there is a lump rising up right before I vomit and/or get the acid burn.
My doctor is aware of everything that is going on. He said I’m in a small percent that gets this really bad GERD or reflux and later down the road we might have to do a sleeve to bypass revision. I’m really not okay with that option because I had complications after the sleeve surgery. He isn’t really worried about my lack of nutrients at this point because I’m “only” 4 weeks out. I know guys, only four weeks, but in all honesty I’m miserable 24 hours a day. I have kids, I have a full time job, and I seriously can’t continue like this.
I was also told I now have sludge in my gallbladder so it may need to be removed later.
If anyone can relate to this or tell me it will all be okay I would really appreciate it. I’m at my breaking point and am very disappointed in myself for electing to have this surgery.

Ya. My skinny friends all diet every day. - they watch everything they eat. Exercise. Drink juice cleanses. Do Protein Shakes and bars. Only indulge once in a blu moon if at all. Their diet is their lifestyle. And even though they have only needed to lose after baby weight gain- they live by the newest diets and exercise craze ( right now it’s peleton) - WW, Atkins , whole food—. They have done them all. They are just way better at dieting then I was! I consider myself on a diet. Because that’s what it is. So true about ‘mindset’ code word for making good choices. The newest code word is ‘grit’ - for not giving up. Whatever works works. Obviously we are trying to make good choices to that our life changes - hence lifestyle changes. - and dieting gives structure which for me helps with making the right choice or only choice.

Wow 30 carbs a day is low. I can barely do 50. Can you share what you eat to get carbs that low? I’m not losing so much so need to switch things up. Getting depressed as I thought I’d be much less by now.
