    Unable to tolerate meat!?!?

Hi Laura, sorry for the late reply!! Congrats on your surgery, it’s such a huge step!! I remember that feeling post surgery. I was miserable and regretting it and overall having a really hard time. I promise you. It’s all worth it. It was the best decision I ever made. I’m 4 years out, I’m 6 feet tall and lost 150 pounds. I kept majority of it off this whole time fluctuating maybe 20 pounds here and there. I’m currently pregnant with my first baby and it’s hard watching my body get bigger again but the surgery really helped me to make life changes so I know I’ll be able to get it back to it. As for food, you will struggle, and it’s okay. Honestly 4 years out and me and steak are still not friends, my stomach has a hard time breaking it down. I couldn’t eat eggs for almost 6 months post surgery. It’s seriously trial and error what your body will tolerate. I was super lucky though I could basically eat anything (tiny amounts) 6 months later. It’s eating too fast or too much that would cause this gas build up, constant burps that lead to throwing up and that’s honestly still a thing for me. However only like every other month maybe. Ice cream and cereal and I are major enemies since the surgery always always makes me sick (not a bad thing this way I won’t eat bad things) I didn’t really take meds of any sort. Just my vitamins. But like I said I am one of the rare lucky ones, I haven’t needed vitamins in 2+ years my body is totally normal as is. I got insurance to cover a panniculectomy and my doctor was super nice and even took extra. I’ll try and check my email more if you have any questions! You’ve got this.

    Panic setting in.

I am 9 weeks out, and I am down 40 pounds so far, and compared to some of the others who were around my date I have lost a lot less than them. We are all different, comparing each other doesn't help. I had about a year of appts. till I had my surgery and then went through the whole thing over Thanksgiving and Christmas, and let me tell you that was so hard. But I got through it, just like you will. We wanted this surgery for a reason, to change our lives for the better. Live a happy, healthy, and longer life. You will not fail. You have come to far and once you start seeing those results which happen pretty quick you will be so glad you took the leap.

    Snacks

Thanks! Yes those are some good ones. I love peanut butter. I get an almond one that’s really good.

    Snacks

I wish I liked jello. Texture makes me gag. Always has. Eggs make me sick since surgery. So strange no matter how they are prepared. I can do egg beaters though. Cheese is one of my main things I eat. I probably eat to much to be honest. I know I need to start eating more of a variety. I just get so anxious about choosing something that’ll make me sick but I know I need to venture out.

    Snacks

Alright guys I am starting to get very bored of eating the same things all the time. I am really good at sitting down for my three meals but have been told I need to be eating more and making an effort to get those couple snacks in for the added nutrients. What are some go to snacks and foods in general you guys like?

    Unable to tolerate meat!?!?

I am sorry to hear you are struggling with this. I am 9 weeks out. I have struggled with ground turkey, turkey sausage and a turkey burger. But can do turkey bacon and deli turkey slices. So weird. So i unfortunately switched to ground beef which I have never been a fan of. Someone mentioned to me to use only organic really top of the line cause it could be preservatives and other junk that's making us sick. Idk if that is accurate at all. I have found things i loved before surgery are no longer appealing to me which I thought was so strange. I read about that happening and was convinced it would not happen to me. Low and behold it has. I get really bored eating meat so this post was good for me to. I had gone vegan before surgery and besides meat that is the only animal product or byproduct I consume so knowing I have other options is great, I didn't think I had a lot of protein options that weren't from an animal or made by an animal. I get sick a lot after eating, just about anything. Nausea usually and that feeling of going to be sick. Unfortunately my doctor says this happens to a lot of people and I have some pills to take and she says I have to push past it cause I'm not getting enough nutrients so I cant be picky right now. Hang in there you will find somethin that works for you.
  8. Alright so I am two days into my Disneyworld excursion and I am finding it so so hard to get calories in. Water I am getting better at. My problem is it’s so hot and humid that I need to drink tons. I was told water was more important then food and with the whole 15/30 rule going 45 minutes without water multiple times a day that’s precious water drinking time. But I’m burning around 800/1000 a day with all this walking but only getting in 400 or so. That’s so so bad. I try to only eat food unless it’s super high protein but I feel like as this point my body will start to go into starvation mode or something. Advice help more food ideas. I’m in soft stage and 7 weeks out.

    Stomach spasms

Hi guys this happened to meet right after too. It was my temperature of water. Warm or like warm was the only way to get it to stop. I stopped having weird twinges after that.

    On the go foods

Great thanks everyone for your recommendations. I haven’t tried any fruit yet I’ve been kinda nervous. But I may give it a go today so see if that’s an option for the trip.

    On the go foods

I’ve got protein bars. I made sure to stock up on those. I’m supposed to be on soft foods for another 2 weeks. My doctor made every stage so long. I haven’t had to many eating issues so far. But I think jerky is out. I don’t like tuna and fish makes me sick.
  12. I’m headed on vacation to Disneyworld in 2 days. I’m almost 6 weeks post op. Just wondering if people could give me some recommendations of foods to eat since I’ll be on the go so much. Or if you’ve been to Disneyworld and you know of good places to get healthy choices let me know. I typically stick to chicken. Seafood has always made me sick and now after surgery I seem to have more of a sensitivity to it. But I want to make sure I’m getting enough protein. I’m really bad about getting enough calories in so I really need to work on it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  13. You look so happy and soo amazinf! Congrats on all your progress and hard work!
  14. So this is the second time I’ve had this happen. I’m 4 weeks post off. First time I ate a scrambled egg ate a couple bites and had super bad chest pains and was burping a lot. Lasted about 45 minutes. Second was tonight. I had a few bites of a turkey burger. Just the party and again, awful chest pains and burping. No nausea but I almost feel when I burp that I may throw up. Does anyone know what this is? Anyone experience it too? I don’t think I’m eating to fast so wondering if the foods don’t agree or it’s to dense.
