MNgirl1234 got a reaction from ProudGrammy in SEX, SEX, SEX!!!
Hello all!!! I am 2 years out from BPD-DS and in maintenance. I started out at over 400 lbs and in the 150's now. I am healthier, happier and just overall doing well.....except for the intimacy department. I've been married for 12 years. My husband is obese and he was not terribly supportive of my decision to have surgery. He now thinks I'm too skinny and will sometimes make comments about my loose skin or the fact that I'm not the girl he married (physically), my breasts are practicallynon-existant. Now onto the sex----I have a very healthy sexual appetite, especially now post surgery. I'm 36 and enjoy physical intimacy, touching, and feeling connected. The husband is hardly interested in having sex at all anymore and at first I tried to look past that, but it's becoming harder and harder. I don't think I'm unattractive...but the fact that he doesn't initiate or show intimacy is really wearing on our marriage. I have tried to initiate sex 3 times this week and have been ignored each time. I don't know what to do!!! I love my husband, but I cannot spend the rest of my life with that lack of intimacy.

Hello ladies!!!! My highest weight was 437 before I decided to change my life. I started seeing my dietician and worked my butt off to drop to 376 before DS surgery. I've lost 27 pounds in the first month post op and finally am starting to feel better. I have hit a stall the last few days, just hanging out... not losing, not gaining. It's so frustrating! I have to remind myself that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Congratulations on everyone's success!!

I work in healthcare also, and what they did was completely inappropriate. Personally, I think they should be called on the carpet for it, or at the very least be made aware of how this has affected you on an emotional level, and about the things you mentioned here about your history. But this is a personal decision you have to make, because this is the office you will be returning to. I feel there will always be an awkwardness there now when you have to return for follow up, and that is so not fair to you.
My thought is that if it happened to me I would write a personal letter to the PA, with a copy to the doctor, on what happened, explaining it like you did here. (Cut and paste saves some time!) This not only affected you, but I'm sure your son was also upset by it. Perhaps a good suggestion would be that the staff involved should attend some mandatory sensitivity training to prevent it happening to someone else, as there is nothing that can be done to take back what happened to you or make it ok.
They are probably (hopefully) mortified by what happened, but what they feel is probably nothing close to what they made you feel.

Hey Glamgirl! This is my first post since surgery on April 18th and I feel like I got run over by a truck. I hope that's normal! I'm exhausted and getting enough liquids is a challenge for sure, especially since I have the dreaded "D" (diarrhea). I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well! I keep telling myself it will get better!!

I think the hardest part is preparing meals for my family (I have 3 littles), so not taste testing or nibbling is ridiculously hard.

It gets a little easier but no doubt it is tough. The only advice I can give is that if you need to cheat for your sanity, cheat with something that has Protein (eggs, chicken, steak) rather than bread or sugar. The point of this low cal high protein diet is to shrink your liver through Ketosis. At least high protein (low carb) cheat keeps you on that path.

I am going through a similar situation. My husband tells me that having surgery is the easy way out and that he's afraid I'll fail and then get even more depressed about my weight. He is as also morbidly obese and I suspect that he's afraid I might not want him if I "get skinny". I'm guessing your hubby might feel the same way. I've already scheduled my surgery for April 18th and although I respect my husband's opinion, nobody will stand in the way of my choice. It is your health and your body. Best wishes to you on your journey!

Are you keeping a journal of what you are eating? If not you should. The journal could tell you howuch Protein, carbs, fiber, .... You are getting.

I use an app called MyFitnessPal. It has a desktop/web version. The app can use a smartphone to scan a foods barcode in, and it will 99% be accurate. Also has a search function for it's databases. You enter your serving size. Also tracks Water, weight and physical dimensions. FREE. Paid version let you customize meals and goals.
