    November sleevers here

I was sleeved 11/8 and I won't be cleared (hopefully) until 11/29 for puree foods. Then I am on that 3-4 weeks before soft foods. Then 3-4 weeks before slowly introducing regular foods. So about 3 months or so out, I will be able to start regular foods. Seems all surgeons and programs are different.

Good luck!! I took a thin snap front housecoat/bathrobe type item to wear over hospital gown when you are walking so your back side doesn't show Undies, toothbrush/paste, mouthwash, CHAPSTICK! you are sooo dry after surgery, handcream, comb or brush. My hospital gave us these slipper socks with rubber for walking but I had packed socks and slip on soft sneakers for walking. Didn't need them. I brought a book, my Ipad. Didn't open either one. When I wasn't walking, I really was resting. I didn't even watch TV. My sis and my hubby came up a couple times to visit. Then you are getting visits from nurses and drs. I was in hospital 2 days and it really went by very fast. You'll do great!

You know I had that...really really bad pain in between my breasts. THAT'S where your new stomache is. We always think it's like below our ribs. I figured out that mine will what I call seize up if I am super hungry. Terrible awful pain. So that's why sometimes I make a yogurt with protein powder in it (like PB protein powder) and thin it with a little water. Just to put something THICKER than LIQUID in it. That seems to do the trick. Like I wake up every morning with that pain cuz I'm starving. I can't wait for puree foods!!! Good luck but just be careful in case it's not your new tummy.

OK I had a bit of a setback. I am lactose intolerant. Been for years. I tried many products before surgery and they sat ok with me. Typically Whey Isolate is ok VS the other whey. Greek yogurt typically doesn't bother me but non-greek does. Well....I had pure diarrhea early this morning for at least 3 hours non stop. I KNOW I cannot afford to lose liquid like that. I'll get dehydrated. I have not yet managed to get to 64 oz or more a day. I thought I would be able to no problem but I cannot yet. SO....I decided to go back to liquids for today and kinda reset my gut. I asked my nurse if I could become MORE lactose intolerant and she said absolutely. So no dairy, whey, yogurt or even lactose free milk for me today. I'm FREAKIN STARVING. At least I'm getting my liquids in! I am BEYOND ready to move to puree stage. I can't until after Nov 29th meeting with surgeon. At least then I can get in chicken and fish for protein and not rely so much on dairy products. This NOTHING but some form of dairy for almost a week was my downfall today. I will try at least ONE meal with protein drink tomorrow see how I feel. I'm terrified of losing what little hair I have left so I need that protein. As far as incisions, nothing has ever pained or hurt me. I walked my dogs daily. Yesterday I did 3 miles. Slower than normal but 3. Today I did a shorter one because (a) I'm back working and (b) I almost felt like I had low blood sugar from not eating. Nov 29th...HURRY!!

I work from home as well. Today was my first day back, sleeved on 11/8, I did ok but I'm glad I have just tomorrow before some days off. I think when I start working a 5 day stretch, it's going to be very trying & I'll be wishing I could nap!!

I don't have any of this at all. BUT...I just asked my husband if he could help me with the stuff left over from the taping on the bandages. I think I may be allergic to it. I have a pretty good rash going on and one started. All in the area where the tape glue is. It's my biggest incision..the one they took the stomach out from and put the drain in. So it had a bigger bandage on it. The other ones just had glue. I just can't see it good enough to get on my own. I want to try to get that excess glue off before I'm a big huge rash!!! Only an itching now an again on a healing smaller incision. No pain, no burning. Keep track of that burning esp if it changes color or oozes.

oh no that is NOT good. You should tell your team. I have liquid tylenol but have not needed it. My surgeon has me on Prilosec for months. I have to open the pull and put the beads in sugar free applesauce or yogurt & have that each day. He told me we have the same acid being produced with a smaller stomache so this is to keep the acid at bay so that the staple line etc heals. I would def tell my team about that. Also, start sipping constantly. You need to hydrate. My nurse told me it was more important at this stage than trying to get in the protein. That a whole host of things can happen if we get dehydrated. Good luck...I iwouldn't take anymore of that.

I think it's a good thinkgto be on the liquid diet. I was sleeved 2 days before you and don't think my gut would handle digesting anything but. I think our poor stomachs just need to heal. Even though I WANT to eat so bad! People told me that my taste would change....and yup it has. I normally, in a course of former tummy, drank 80-100 ozs of water a day. Now my new stomach doesn't even LIKE plain water. I get cramps. But I can have vitamin water. Go figure. I just dilute it half and half. This is what I'm doing to get around not being able to tolerate stuff in order to get in protein and liquids. For my meals, I sometimes have hot tea with unflavored protein. I bought Genpro from AMazon. Not cheap but gives 30 grams per scoop. I mix it with a little bit of water to thin paste consistancy then I add it to my hot tea. I will also do this with bone broth. Just make sure you mix it FIRST. I have Unjury unflavored but have not tried it yet. MOST people rave about the Unjury chicken soup flavored one. When I feel I need to "eat" vs drink, I will mix 1/4 cup 0 or 2% plain fage yogurt with a scoop of Inspire peanutbutter cup. I will add a tablespoon or so to thin it a bit. That gives me at least 26 grams protein. Hope some of these ideas help you.

YES! Right inbetween my breasts. It's like my stomach is seizing up. We all think our stomach is the middle of our body but it's actually up higher. It does that when I've gone a long time without drinking protein (what I call eating LOL) or liquids. Like middle of the night when you've been sleeping 5 hours. A few nights I actually got up and took some sips of protein drink or had some yogurt. My nurse told me not to do that. But jeez...there have been times in my life before surgery where I have been STARVING during the night and couldn't sleep till I had a yogurt or oatmeal or toast or something. I feel it's no different.

It's so funny you say that about your bladder. I have always drank alot of water (and funny that my new tummy hates plain water STILL). Always peeing. But not volumes of pee, just pee and yes rushing to go. Now....I go alot but NOT AS MUCH. Don't have to rush and MORE comes out in a good stream. I was thinking to myself....I should have been catheratized a long time ago if this is the outcome! It's good news. WHO KNEW???? LOL As far as coffee black...ick. I just put in a bit of Fairlife 2% milk. It's lactose free. And the 2% is as creamy as creamer. you only need a bit. On a side note....we can have SF popsicles. Can we also have SF fudgicles? I think yes.

You know Tink, you can try the soft foods. I would start with something you like that you have had before and just a tiny bit of it and chew chew chew chew before you swallow. Just eat a bit and see how things go. If you have nausea or cramping or anything, got back to clear liquids for the next meal or two and try again. Just because they say you can doesn't mean you HAVE to or that you're new belly will get on with it.. Eventually we all want to get to the point where we are "normal". Very small portions but pretty much normal. It's not a race for sure. Even on just full liquids, sometimes the protein shakes get to me and I do simple clears for a meal to settle myself. I was already lactose intolerant and I fear I've become MORESO. My nurse told me the other that it's extremely possible. So baby steps. You know your body better than anyone else. Just start small especially if you are fighting nausea still. good luck and keep us posted!! it's a journey we are all on!

I was sleeved 11/8 and I am on only full liquids until 11/29. I cannot wait to get on puree foods. Other than broths, teas, waters, protein shakes, Vitamin water, jello, popsicles, about the only thing I can have right now with any substance is yogurt and I take full advantage of that. I'm not sure if they took enough of the grehlin part of my stomache out. Cuz I get mighty hungry and it's not head hunger (have that alot too) but true my gut flipping around hunger. So I will take a scoop of protein mix and swirl it into 1/4 cup of yogurt with some water to thin and eat that to feel like I'm eating something! My next step is puree foods then soft foods. Soft foods are scrambled eggs n cheese, soft fishes, tender chicken, yogurt, cottage cheese, RICOTTA BAKE I can't wait to eat that! LOL! good luck
