I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this! I have my second visit with the surgeon on Monday and I'm terrified this will be my outcome. All my weight has done this month is bounce up and down and I'm supposed to be 5lbs down when I see him...

Where are you at now on this journey? I have my EFF on Friday and then I meet with the surgeon on Monday at which point I'm hoping to set a date!

Is anyone else buying and trying protein drinks, mixes etc pre-surgery?
Starsmore replied to BunnyJean's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the run down if things you've tried!! I wish I had more input to give, but I've only really tried the Premier protein shakes (And just the chocolate in that because vanilla things are usually way too sweet). I really appreciate the info on the protein water; if I can get it at Target, that will work so much better than trying to get the Premier protein water at Sam's club. I have tried many different brands of canned chicken and they all seem to be the same (I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that rinsed it, too! Lol). I figure this might work well for the soft good stage (and maybe pureed?). I want to try some of the meat baby foods; I'm hoping I won't be as disgusted by eating pureed meat if I'm not doing the puree-ing. If you haven't tried the tuna that comes in pouches, I would recommend that. My dietician and I were just discussing how it tastes so much better than the stuff in cans. Starkist puts out a yummy lemon pepper tuna in the pouches, as well as several other flavors (I tried the ranch flavored tuna and did not like it at all). -
Can I ask how much water you drank before surgery? I drink over a gallon a day now and I worry about not being able to get enough after surgery. Maybe it's easier if you drank more before?

Congrats on getting your date! That's the day I'll be meeting with the surgeon again after all my preop testing. I'm hoping for good news -

That is excellent news! I have PCOS and have cycles...well, whenever they feel like it. It would be nice to be able to predict when they should arrive. Maybe TMI, but I seriously struggle with facial hair sometimes...does that get any better?

Did Anthem BCBS get rid of their 6 month supervised diet requirement?
Starsmore replied to provenzee's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Anthem BC and I emailed to ask. They said that six months of supervised weight loss was required, but I was already able to meet with the surgeon and I have all the preop testing scheduled and approved, so I'm not sure what the deal is.... -
BCBS California, how much do they cover?
Starsmore replied to bnturner3's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have Anthem BC (in California) and they said I'll be responsible for 20% of the hospital bill. -

I'm hiding my surgery from family anyone else ?
Starsmore replied to mzsantiago88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've told my parents. They're my sounding board and sanity often times lol. I need their support. I also told my sister because she won't judge me for it (she's worried about me coming through the surgery, but other than that totally on board with it). And my younger brother knows, kind of; I don't know if he pays enough attention to know that I'm serious about following through on it this time (I had a false start about two years ago). I mentioned it in passing to my sister in law (married to my older brother) a while ago, but I haven't said anything else about it to either her or my older brother since then and I won't until I have a surgery date or until it's done. Despite having PCOS and no longer having a thyroid, I don't trust my athletic older brother to be supportive of my decision (even though his mother in law and sister in law have both had wls and his other sister in law was recently approved for it). I haven't told my current coworkers, although I did mention it in an email to my boss. That was only because I just passed probation and have a gazillion appointments to try to get approved....hoping it all goes well and isn't for naught! -
The Food Demons Won't Leave Me Alone
Starsmore replied to RSM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can definitely understand where you're coming from. I just started this whole journey (I had my first surgeon consult on Monday) and I want to sit on my couch and eat everything tasty (crackers, cookies, chips), but I have a [manageable] weight loss goal to meet and I want to start forming those good habits, so when I grocery shop Friday, I'm going to fight all those urges to bring empty foods home. You've got this. -
I'm sorry for your loss. That's a lot all at once, but you can overcome the temptations and stay on track (you've already done a great thing by acknowledging where you are emotionally). Hang in there.
