Oh okay you just look familiar to me. Damn so you can't change it. So you'll be done by February? Did you find a psych already or you going to the one they sent you because let me just say the one they sent me I don't have the means to pay for that. Can I ask you if you saw their nutritionist already? I wish you Good luck!! keep me updated.

From what I was told they only submit one weigh in I'm just not sure if it's the first one or last one. I would think last one but I don't know. They do submit the letter of necessity from your doctor that has all 6 weigh ins so keep that in mind. I have Fidelis for the month of September but ended up switching to Metroplus cause with Metroplus is no wait time. But I won't get that till October. If you can change go for it. My first consult was with Dr. Kini also in Mount Sinai St Luke's on the 23rd. My BMI is 42.5 but he only wants me to lose up to 10 lbs with that calculation it will be 40.8 (BMI) which makes me believe that I shouldn't be less then 40 to get approve. Good luck keep me update. BTW you look familiar did you go to the support group yesterday?

    Just Starting Out

Thank you for sharing. I am happy you chose to better your health. From what I hear you are a strong human being and you will do great! Good luck and God bless!!!
  5. So I went to my first consultation last week with Dr. Kini from Mount Sinai St Luke's in NY and I am excited to say that I will be going forward with WLS. We have decided to go with VSG and I had my consultation with the Gastroenterology the following day and scheduled my endoscopy for Sept 8th. I scheduled my Psych eval for Sept 4th. I have a support group tomorrow and then I have to pick another day in Sept for the second group. I have 2 appointments coming up with my PCP in Sept and October and God willing I will be set for October. So I was terminated from Healthfirst on July 31. Found out on 08/02 called back and was given Medicaid for the month of August and then enrolled to Fidelis starting Sept but then found out that with Fidelis you would have to do the 6 month diet and I have been dieting and on this weight loss journey since 2005. 12 years of trying of yo-yo dieting, of fluctuating in weight and feeling depressed and honestly speaking I didn't want to wait another 6 months. So I switch and all I need is 1 visit with my provider and a few requirements. Hopefully when I see him in October I will be scheduled for my surgery. He said I will have to lose from here till October around 5 to 10 lbs. I am currently 255 with no Co-morbidity with a BMI of 42.5 something like that. I have to be over 40 to get approve so that's why I think he is not fussing with me losing an X amount of weight. I'm nervous but definitely ready for this. I did my blood work the same day and they told me when I go in October I will see the Nutritionist and that is it. I need 2 letter from my provider one from her (letter of necessity) and one clearing me from cardio and pulmonary. I am wondering though if I need to see those specialist or would she be able to provide those letters to me. I guess next week I will see. So yea that's all they are asking weird I hear a lot of people do sleep study but I wasn't. I will call to make sure I do not want to go in October and then prolong it even more because they forgot.

Can you change your insurance plan for Metroplus? You don't need to do the 6 month. The wait till October is killing me cause if it was up to me I'll have surgery tomorrow. Is a long time waiting for this. Is consuming my life, I'm in pain half the day and I'm just over it. I too don't want to go under 40 until you get approve. What is your diet like? How far are you into the 6 months?

  7. So tell me a little bit about your story. Did you have surgery already?
  8. Hello Everyone. First and foremost I just want to say I am so happy I found this website. I live in the Bronx, NY area and I am going to see Dr. Subhash Kini from Mount Sinai Hospital/St. Lukes. My first appointment with him will be the 23rd of August. I am excited and nervous because I really need this especially because I gained so much weight and don't know what to do anymore. I tried so many weight loss programs and yo-yo diets but no help. I mean I lost but gain back and double triple what I have lost. I feel lost. I feel depressed and most of the time is due to my weight. My social life well let's just say I don't have one not like I really did before due to the fact that I am a mother of three beautiful girls and a wife. So social life can't really hang out unless is at my house and really people just rather hangout at lounges and all but anyways my weight doesn't even let me want to hangout. My highest weight now is 254.8 lbs at 5'5" which brings me to a BMI of 42.5 Morbid Obesity. I can't breathe half the time, I have insomnia and I can't do half or more things that I normally would do. My health is going down the drain although I don't have HTN or Cholesterol or Diabetes which definitely runs in my family like mother, father, aunts, and uncles etc have it. I don't know if I suffer from Sleep Apnea and I guess I'll find out because that will be one of the requirements. Talking about requirements whyyyyyyy. I have Fidelis Care NY Medicaid and they supposedly require 6 months weight management and x amount of exams ughhhh I guess I'll see what they say in the visit. So I feel like I have tried it all for 12 years and counting and nothing helps. I need that push that tool to help me finally lose all this excessive weight i have put on. I don't know if there are others who feel the same way but if you do I'm here. I hope to find friends here and to have some support because I honestly don't have one. My husband is not here or there. My only two friends do not agree but they don't get involve either but is not like i can talk to them about it. I try to have a few people to talk to but unless they are going through the same thing they really won't understand and really don't want to be talking about it. I am doing my research on the surgery through google, YouTube and other programs. I have done about 4 seminars.... I know........ Hope is not to much of me in one forum. I think I'm going to document my journey here and definitely thinking of YouTube. I'll keep you guys updated on that. Anyways enough of me anyone else here going through the same, going with the same doctor, hospital, from NY, no support system???
  9. Thank you so much. I'll keep you updated.
  10. Yes major difference. I will call today. How did the evaluation went? Do they give you fast appointments? Kind of nervous want to go and not be told to come back although I don't have any issues that I know..... lol Heard they ask so many questions..... Let''s see

    Psych Eval tomorrow!

They charge $150 I don't have that kind of money.
  12. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I also hate that word or the look of your provider when they tell you "you are morbidly obese". I find so far finding a psych who does the evaluation is the hardest part because they ask for fee and honestly speaking I don't have any money. That is really discouraging me but I'll keep looking.

    Psych Eval tomorrow!

Does any one here from NY know where I can see a psych that takes insurance ?
  14. Hey do you remember either his first or last name I'm looking them up but don't get the exact match?
  15. I'm so excited one to my first appointment and everything went well and hopefully getting it done in October with Dr. Kini but only thing I'm trying to find a psychologist that does the evaluation with Fidelis because the one he recommended I will have to pay out of pocket ? Anyone knows of a psych that does it with insurance?
  16. I went to Mount Sinai in NY but they sent me to this psychologist whom I would have to pay out of pocket and I really don't have the money. I need a psychologist in NY that does the Evaluation for surgery and takes Fidelis Medicaid?? Can anyone point me to the right direction?
  17. Maryvsg87

    Metroplus Anyone

I just finish seeing Dr. Kini from Mt. Sinai and I was told I don't have to do 6 months if I had metroplus so I switch but it won't become active till October so hopefully I won't have to wait to long after that meanwhile doing all my pre req before October
  18. Can I ask you a question So you didn't have to do the 3 or 6 month diet? Why Bypass? Do you have co-morbidities? What insurance do you have? Sorry not trying to be FBI lol just new to this. I have chosen VSG yet to see what the doctors do say though. They can be like no you need bypass.... you know what I mean we never know until you are there from what I have read.
  19. Awww Thank you for sharing! I'm happy for you having your surgery date even though I don't know you personally just knowing we have similarities is as if I do. Definitely going to keep updating about my process in here. Tell me about your process how has it been? Did you have to do insurance requirements? How is your Doctor? I'm happy my first appointment is tomorrow and I'm anxious to see what happens....... Thank you for your support and know also I'm here if you need support. I have notice I'm always good in supporting others and giving advice often I'm being called Dr. Phil but never take my own advice... LOL So I'm here for you. Love the quote!! "Three months from now you will thank yourself"- Weight loss quotes (This one is literal LOL from August to November)

    preop requirements

OMG thank you. Keep me updated. Is right around the corner! Yay
  21. Ask yourself why did you want the GBS vs VSG and then what made you choose VSG and then why now you want GBS again if whatever you answer makes sense to you gen go with that. I always say go with your gut feeling and ask if you can change surgery cause then you might then later on go get a revision and that's another surgery.
  22. Do you have certain requirements you have to go through due to the doctor or insurance?
  23. Maryvsg87

    preop requirements

Tell me about it..... I hear different requirements other people have had with my same insurance some only 3 months others 6 months..... I have had 3 weigh in with my PCP but they are not consecutive which bugs me. I want to know if my PCP can give me a letter with those weigh in and they approve it after I see my surgeon. I hope so because I don't want to do surgery next year. I would love it done in the month of Nov or even sooner if possible.
  24. Congrats..... that is an amazing drop!!! If you don't mind me asking why do you say that (chicken factory)?
