  1. My bypass is scheduled in December. I’ve learned so much taking the paid classes, etc. One fact that has stuck with me is the honeymoon period. After the surgery your metabolism is great, and for 12 to 24 months you will lose weight. It’s during the honeymoon period that you must learn what and how much to eat for the rest of your life or you will begin to gain weight again. It’s not the amount you eat, it’s what you eat.
  2. I’ve seen several psychologists and a psychiatrist over my many years mainly because we had good insurance, and could afford to do so. I learned you have to take some things they say with a grain of salt. Don’t take her words to heart. She could have major problems of her own. 😂
  3. After three weeks of changing my entire diet, the scales are finally moving! Yea! Height 5'9" BW (beginning weight?) 275 WL 8 CW 267 Second meeting with dietician and surgeon in one week. Yea me!!!!!! 👏 🎉 😀 🎉 👏

    Post Op Complications

I would call the doctor or gastroenterologist who stretched your esophagus earlier and tell them what’s going on. It’s inexcusable for your surgeon to not be available for you when you’re unable to swallow. Personally, I would raise h*ll until I got his attention! The only other option you have is to go to the emergency room. I’m so sorry. 😢

What has your surgeon said about it? Have you called them?

Do I need surgery still? A reality check

I am having the exact same thoughts. I’m doing very well on my pre op diet, and am wondering if I could just keep doing this. Maybe I could, but I never have before. One reason I am have been successful on the pre op diet is because I know I have to see my surgeon once a month. And if I gain weight, i’m out of the program. One reason I have decided to continue with the surgery is because i’m not a young chick anymore. I believe I will lose the weight faster by having the surgery.
  7. About a week ago I read a post about a vitamin dispenser. The woman sounded so excited to share her find! I looked at her profile, and it looked strange for a few reasons. The more I thought about it, the more I thought she was just selling something. Today I noticed this site selling the same brand of vitamin dispenser. Whatever. i simply do not like items appear to be in my cart when there aren’t any, and neither do I like fake posters by this site (if this is the case). My apologies if this isn’t the case. Rant over.

    Anyone Watching This Is Us?

I’ve never watched it, but I think I’ll start. Sounds good!

    What If They Ask?

I have told my immediate family about my upcoming bypass surgery, but not my friends. I really don’t see my best friends that often, but that’s been my fault since they live right here. We do correspond everyday. Even though two women are my best friends, they are the ones who will not keep a secret. I’ve learned the hard way. I’ve been thinking ahead, and I see the following scenario coming up. After I lose a significant amount of weight, I know they will just ask me if I’ve had surgery. I don’t want to lie to them, but I will feel so much guilt if I do. Has anyone run into this situation when people just bluntly ask if you’ve had WLS? HW 275 CW 262 Surgery in December
  10. My surgeon said I had no choice because I already had hiatal hernia surgery. I’m kind of glad now as I understand you lose weight faster.

    What If They Ask?

I remember how Star Jones was treated on “The View.” The other women were angry at her for not telling the truth. They treated her terribly. As I recall, she was simply trying to keep it private, but the other women shamed her for it.

    What If They Ask?

Great idea. As kind a person I am, I would definitely sue. I would be so angry.

    What If They Ask?

It has crossed my mind that a true friend would keep a secret. In a way, she can’t help it in that she gets a kind of high from it. Sad, but true.

    What If They Ask?

Thank you. I agree that certain people can’t keep their mouth shut. I’ve decided to not ever let them know.

    What If They Ask?

Thank you so much! I think my problem is that most of my friends don’t know that i’m overweight enough to qualify for surgery. I’ve been too embarrassed to go anywhere in case someone saw me. I believe I’ll become more confident as times go by.
  20. I am scared to death of gaining any weight between surgeon’s visits. In the booklet I was given, it says that if you gain weight during the process, you’re outta there! I’m sure they would understand fluctuating weight, but I dunno! Eek!

    Nervous about being approved!

Have you had to have many tests done yet, and did you have to pay for them? I can’t imagine a surgeon allowing you to go all through that without them being fairly sure that your insurance will pay. They usually know.

    What If They Ask?

Thank you so much. That’s a good way to explain it. My problem is that my friends know me so well that they will get me to admit it, and then, being me, I will cry and be upset with myself and them for persisting. On top of that, one friend’s relative is in charge, in some way, of all the surgeries where I will go. I know that there are Hippa? laws, but I have no doubt she will ask them, and they will tell her. Then she will tell everyone. I don’t know. I wish I didn’t care, but I do.

    My 600lb life

I’ve always watched the show. But now that i’m about to have the bypass, I watch it with more interest. I find it informative, especially what NOT to do. 😂.
