I realize now why the people in the yogurt, ice cream & hamburger commercials eat the food slowly. They must be on the liquid diet and that bite is literally all they are allowed to have [emoji23] I know when I get my 1 Greek yogurt per day I eat it slowly and savor every bite too Hahaha!

How long was your preop diet and how much did you eat? My surgeon says the diet is meant to reduce the size of your liver so that the surgery is safer. There are a lot of people who only have to do it the day before, if at all. If you've stuck to the diet otherwise and this was the only mistake you should be fine. Definitely try not to slip again though, this close to the surgery date might not be a great idea.

The closer I get to having my surgery (the 21st) the more I want to tell people. I am proud that I am finally taking control of my health and getting my weight under control. We are going to visit family for a week around Christmas and trying to hide it when visiting 2 different families everyday just seems exhausting. I don’t want one of my kids or one of the few people I’ve told to slip so I think I will just let people know after I have it done. Just wondering what everyone thinks of this for after surgery. I saw it on Facebook, kind of interesting but not sure it would be a life saver. Do you think it would make life easier or just be a waste of money? I could be wrong but I believe she is concerned that she is losing too much protein when she vomits it, since she can’t measure how much was retained before getting sick from it. My surgeon says that one week after surgery he wants me to strive for 60 grams of protein a day, the equivalent to 2 premier protein drinks. If you are keeping down half of what you are taking in you should be ok but vomiting half of everything you take in cannot be healthy and must be miserable. I would definitely talk to the surgeon and let him/her know that the diet is making you sick. Maybe they will adjust it or allow you to get your protein from a different type of shake or broth etc. Hopefully they can do something to help you. Oh no I’m so sorry. Are you allowed to try other protein drinks or do you have to drink theirs? If you are allowed to try others there are some tasteless ones on amazon or different brands around. Hernia repair surgery is very similar in the diets and incisions. I googled it to make sure. After reading that I plan to tell people that I had hernia repair surgery and that I lost so much weight from the pre and post op diets that I decided to keep it up. That sounds good. I am also supposed to stay away from carbonation now and after surgery. I’m not a big soda drinker so that wasn’t a problem but I would love to be able to have veggies.
