    I have a couple of things. That I would have an insane amount of gas anytime I ate or drank in the first couple of months. And that no amount of eating slowly can prevent that. Not an issue now at 10 weeks but was awful the first month. No regrets though. That eating would get disgusting. As in, I would not get the same feeling from food as I used to get and I would have food aversions to things to used to enjoy. Like guac, Peanut Butter, fried chicken. That my taste bud would change. Also that the sensation of food being stuck in your throat and throwing up is so uncomfortable and weird. When I started solids, it was interesting with chicken. And throwing up is just not the same. Thankfully it's better no gross sour bile taste anymore. Anyways.....lmao....my surgeon did tell me that. The last one is Water. I knew already from nut class that I would need to sip slow with my water all day. But I don't think I knew the extent to which I would be unable physically to drink water. Especially since I was breastfeeding at the time of surgery and drinking 4L water a day! It was a huge shock to my system. I couldn't even drink up to 20 ounces that first week. And now I am at 48-64ounces. My norm is 3L a day pre sleeve. Anyways. I am just a newbie at 2.5 months. So still learning an discovering as I go. We shall see how things go. So grateful for this tool. The first 65 pounds has been awesome to get off, I am now only 15 pounds away from the weight I was before ever getting pregnant. That's one of my milestones.

    Sleeved 9/8/2017 46 pounds loss. Total 61 since pre-op diet. I have still 107 pounds to get to goal.

    Man I wish I only had my drain for 48hrs. My surgeon requires one for 7 days, and do to a scheduling issue I was stuck with mine for 9 days. That was by far my least favorite part of the whole process. Other than that I wish I knew just how greatly my tastes would change in the time right after surgery. There are quite a few foods that I simply cannot stand the taste of anymore that I loved pre-surgery.

    In three past 6 mos I went from a 3X to a medium. I still feel fat. I see my collar bones but I also see my fat belly and jiggly thighs. Others say things like you look good and you're so tiny, but I still feel like a fat girl. It's hard to get past the mentality of the changes in our bodies.

    totally normal. you need to take a lot of pictures. the mirror lies, even the scale sometimes lies. Pictures seem to be the most reliable. Body dysmorphia is common. it takes a long time for the brain to catch up. I'm wearing a size 2 now! and I still often think I need to lose more...when I'm in that mindset i take a picture and go...right, never mind it was just my fat brain talking.

    Just by coming on here and spilling your guts, so to speak, you know you want to solve this. You took the first step, now take the second one - you know what to do.
    Action precedes motivation. Do something, change something - #1 stop going to DD!!! Make your own coffee w caramel Premier Protein, #2 - track your food intake, even the bad stuff, #3 - Protein first, then veg, #4 - Vitamins, #5 - Water.
    Counseling might be a good idea, or group support at least, or appt with a NUT. Come on here to vent. Go look at your before pictures, and now - pat yourself on the back - you did this! And you can revise and get back at it. Go did out your before jeans and try them on - do you want to go back to that?

    Hi Lovin2lose,

    I just got a surgery date and I was completely underwhelmed. I sorta fear the very thing you're dealing with, that I will discover that my root problem will rear its ugly head and i will not practice self-care. I am in therapy right now to deal with some of these issues. Are you currently seeing a therapist? It sounds like you should look at those roots that cause you to self -sabotage and not care for your body and mind. Just my two cents. I have heard of others resetting their pouches in 5 days by going back to a liquid diet. This could help with the weight loss but you may find yourself unable to even stick to this if you're in a pit. What does your support system IRL look like? Are you involved in any activities that you enjoy? Have you had any NSV?

    I agree with waiting a month and trying again. chicken hurt fir me at 7 weeks out but now at almost ten weeks I can tolerate it if it is moist enough. Still hurts if it is grilled dry. I eat a lot more tofu, baked turkey and stewed meats now. And I still drink shakes. Egg white are also a great source of my daily Protein. Hang in there. Time makes it all better. I finally realized I can drink up to 50 oz of Water a day now. For the longest was stuck on 32oz. My point is that things get better everyday and with time. I am in no hurry, I am glad I can't eat much yet. Makes the weight loss effortless.

    I agree with the above. I always felt hungry until I was placed on protonix and Zantac. Now I am hungry if I skip a meal or its meal times. Also wanted to add that I do feel restriction with soft foods, yogurt and tuna. But the restriction is worse with chicken and fish and meats as stated above.

    It's Water weight. Either you were dehydrated, so reached an artificial low, or you are now retaining Fluid as part of the healing process.
    No worries, it's not fat weight You're doing great!

    My first goal was to lose enough wait to make myself feel good and it has happened I got my surgery on 10/6 and I was 456.8 pounds and today I weighed myself and I am officially out of the 400's I have not seen a 3 in front of my weight since I was 13 or 14

    Every surgeon/plan will be different. My advice is to follow your surgeons plan because you are under their medical supervision. My NUT has me on 1200-1500 calories and 90-100 grams of carbs with 70-100 grams of Protein right now but I'm almost 11 months out. I increased to those amounts over time.
    As for the weight loss it will happen. Early out I was a very slow loser, I plateaued at 3 weeks for a couple weeks (typical 3 week stall) and I had lots of stalls in between surgery and 4 months. Then I had a period of very good weight loss for about 4 months and now I've been stalled for almost 2 months. It's frustrating and I hate seeing the scale go up (I'm bouncing between 185 and 190) but I am just sticking with it and trying to find the money spot to break the stall (increasing exercise, increasing calories, decreasing calories, decreasing carbs, etc).
    I just remind myself that a year ago I was 275 pounds and miserable and that wasn't even my highest weight. Now I'm 185-190, 5'10" and wear a size 12! I might be frustrated as hell right now but I'm already healthier than I have been my entire adult life.
