HDScarlett got a reaction from logicwand in Drinking
2 weeks. I tolerate much less which is ok. I drink a single shot of vodka in a tall Water with ice and lime - and I add sugar free powdered drink mix (found some margarita flavored), or a glass of cabernet. I gave up diet coke - that was hard enough LOL

Try not to be so hard on yourself. We are going from one extreme lifestyle (for me, massive over eating and using food for all sorts of reasons) to the sleeved lifestyle, which is extremely opposite. We are all figuring it out at our own pace. You’re aware of how and what needs to be done so take baby steps. I find if I take baby steps, I am more successful-change one small thing at a time. I always failed before the surgery bc I would try to do too much and then when I fell short of what I was wanting to do, I’d feel like a failure and then go do the total opposite. You’re doing great! We are all there with ya!!

While I am truly jumping up and down for all of you who are being successful, I am only down 40 pounds since surgery (8/25), and have been stalled for 2 months. I knew surgery was not a miracle answer going into it. I hate the gym, have bad knees, and have a sedentary job. I have tried all sorts of exercise, and have never found one that excites me except kick boxing - which caused me to have back surgery...... I really need to get back on track. I definitely eat less than I used to, but am eating what I want. Soooooo, its all on me to turn it around. Owning it is the first step right?

HDScarlett got a reaction from Boris in What do you drink on a post op night out?
Im a vodka girl, and have found that I can only tolerate one or two post surgery. I gave up diet coke which was hard enough ( Im surprised that I have only craved it once in 5 months - did NOT give in). So, I order a single shot of vodka in a tall glass with Water, ice and lime. Then I add Chrystal Light or another sugar free powdered drink mix to it (lemonade, cranberry, or margarita (get on Amazon) . Nobody has ever commented or forbid me to mix my own at a bar or restaurant cuz I am paying for the vodka.

Thank you everyone. I will keep everyone posted as I go thru the Journey and will post if the Keranique works. I have been taking mega Vitamins and Biotin since long before surgery and it is not helping. Also, this isnt my first surgery. I never had this type of Hair loss with my other surgeries . My husband has not noticed and is a gem - he has male patterned baldness and said we can get matching hats. hahahaha Love him

I'm 6 months out and have a lot of long thick hair- it's now falling out in handfuls but I'm told if I use Biotin and make sure I'm getting enough Protein it will stop. Also I was told today that I should mix my Shampoo with apple cider vinegar so I'm going to give it a shot

Lady Rogaine. I'm using it as a precaution cause I know mine's gonna thin horribly. Has after surgeries in the past. Does grow back, though. Also...Paul Mitchell anti-thinning Shampoo helps.

if you're going to lose it, you're going to lose it - there's really nothing that will stop it. But keeping on top of your Protein and Vitamins will probably keep it from getting any worse than it is. The good news is, it's temporary. It'll all grow back. And with most people, you're the only one who will notice it.

Hi everyone! This is our first thread for daily menus. I borrowed this concept from another support board and it's a very popular thread. I am hoping it may help us with accountability and also help other to help us when we may get stuck or have food issues to work through. To begin we will just do a weekly thread and anyone can join regardless of their surgery status or type of surgery. Just follow your own plan as given to you by your doc according to where you are in your journey. To participate, just hit reply and type in the day's menu. You may want to take part in the discussion that goes along with it.
Here's an interesting article in the Bariatric Times about Mindful Eating and Bariatric Patients.
For the next few weeks, I thought it would be fun to look into the concept of Mindfulness as it applies to bariatric patients! I don't know about you, but that's one of my top rules from my surgeon and nut. I must eat MINDFULLY. I can't eat in front of a tv, standing up at the counter, in front of the computer, while talking, etc. I have to be present and focused on the bite of food in my mouth. It's harder than it sounds! I've been practicing Mindful Eating since May and it has really helped me hone in on only eating set meals each day per my RD. Per the RD and surgeon, they want me eating 3 meals and 3 organized Snacks daily. Wow! That's a lot of eating, but it's on a set schedule and is helping me prepare for my post-RNY life.
Ok everyone! Let's get started. Please feel free to post your menu for each day. (Each day of menus will be a new reply to post entry for each of us.)
So here's the QOW (Question of the Week): Mindful Eating: Why do you eat?

I had surgery Jan this year. Almost a year out. Yes you will loose your hair but it's temporary. I have long thick, curly hair and I am horrified BUT you MUST Buy Keranique !! Monthly subscription l! Not kidding after the first month my hair was so full! Couldn't tell I had Hair loss and as the months go on my hair will start to grow back and it is two months and I see the difference. I went to a dermatologist and he said don't worry it will grow back.

I also take Sugarbear gummy vitamins. So tasty and proven results. It's for hair.

Hi all, I need some snack suggestions. I am a "hand to mouth" person, and need some suggestions on what I can snack on at night. Something like nuts, pretzels, etc (not veggies, yogurt, Jello, popsicles). Thanks for your help!
