I had my sleeve on the 8th and yes, everything I drink (broth, Water, crystal light, lemon water, etc...) hurts my belly. It's kind of like gas pains but a combination of that with chest pain, and some other stuff all mixed in. So it's pretty normal at first. I'm 9 days out and it's gotten better.
Don't be afraid to bug the heck out of your surgeon. I do for every thing that really concerns me. Send an email, text, call.... whatever works. You'd rather be safe than sorry.

I was wondering if anyone uses my fitness pal? I had the gastric sleeve on Tuesday so I'm 4 days post op. I would like to have some people to follow so I can have good examples of what others are doing. I'm still on liquids now, but would like some support for the future.

Mine had McDonald's. I don't even like McDonald's but it was so hard sitting there 3 days post op.

You paid out of pocket for this surgery. Why? Did you have health issues? If so, when you want to eat those foods ask yourself this: Is this food worth dying for? If you knew that piece of pizza would kill you the next day, would you still eat it?
I was basically a carb eater pre-op as well. WLS does not prevent you from putting the bad foods in your mouth though it should limit the amount (but it doesn't for slider foods like crackers, chips, etc) That's why you MUST eat your Protein first so your new stomach will feel full. You should not put a carb in your mouth until you have eaten your protein because if you don't you will not be getting the nutrition you need and your body will take it from your muscles.

I was sleeved 4/7 too! Yay! Finally others! I make Soup like I normally do, then strain it. I only drink about 1/4 cup over 30 min or so... i put the rest in a bowl and pour a little in my cup at a time and heat it in the microwave at work...

I just started mine today. I am allowed Protein  shake for two meals and lean cuisine or 300 calories low carb for last meal.

@Greensleevie Is right. People newly post-op don't understand life when you are further out. I'm not as far out as either of you but I am almost at 2 years.
I have pretty much figured out a lot of things I can basically eat endless amounts of, so I can't have those things.
I still find that steak and pork chops fill me up and keep me full for a long time, so those are all I eat basically. The amount I can eat in those creeps up, I can eat more if I don't religiously track them.
    @Steeks
Going back to liquids at this point is pointless. You are just going to be hungry, starve all day and end up binge eating in the end of the day. It will also just make you feel worse about yourself and your control over food. Try dense Protein, Steak, chicken Breast, Pork chops, eat those, 6 ounces. Don't eat anything else. Report back if that makes you feel full and for how long.

You need to come to terms with the fact that you ate your way to this point. You need to come to terms that this operation is a crossroad in your life. One path leads to sickness and early death, all for a few minutes of pleasure you get from eating. The other path leads to a path or a healthy and a longer and better quality of life.
The first few weeks before and after surgery do suck, but you need to take responsibility that you did this to yourself, now you need to get yourself out of it. Suck it up, look to the future and tell yourself your not going down the wrong path and your not going back.
The easy way out it is doing nothing at all.

Just visited with my surgeon today. I was in a week long stall so I thought I was gonna go in there and hear some kind of reprimand that I hadn't lost enough weight! Felt like I was going to the principal's office:-). Well, not so.
They made me feel like I just broke through the banner on the football field. I was surprised how wonderful it felt to have people who do this every day so excited and proud of me. -29 pounds in 6 weeks. I know I'm not the best but they sure made me feel like it.
I have 52 lbs more to lose. Since I feel great with no complications I was given more advice than medical care. My surgeon told me that family and friends care about me and begin to make comments about my weight loss. Things like, "You've lost too much weight, you need to stop." Or "You're too skinny, you need to put on a few pounds." He said, they're not used to seeing me at a healthy weight and it can be a little scary for them.
They're not intentionally sabotaging me but it can. He used an example. If someone you love kept telling you that your haircut does not flatter your face how long would it take you to get your hair in a new cut? Or put you at you're ideal weight in a room with 10 strangers and every one of them will say you look healthy.
His advice. I am to listen to one person about my weight then he pointed at himself and said "me". I almost wanted to cry at his sincerity.
So why share here? Because it's good advice for all of us. When it comes to your health your Surgeon is the best one to tell you what your healthy weight is. Not you're mm, sister, brother or spouse. Go to your follow up appointments even if it feels like you're going to the principal's office.
    Take care.
