  1. NSV: needed a shirt pronto someone was at the door or something and I grabbed a camisole, when I checked later it belongs to my 13yr old (and she  is not husky sized lol) score !

I needed a raincoat yesterday and my husband grabbed one of my son's old ones. Score.............

  2. Two months behind me now, and my energy is finally picking up.  So for folks just getting surgery, if you don't immediately get the energy surge that people talk about, be patient!

@Orchids&Dragons I'm sorry to hear that. Do you think you are getting enough calories, vitamins and water? Of course, it could well be that your body needs a little more time to recover from surgery.

Just say hello -- s/he will have information to impart to you. Just listen and ask questions as they arise. Good luck!

  5. Okay, I'm done.  I'm being myself and apparently offending people left and right.  I'm mortified by that.

I am very direct when dealing with facts, and I have a very warped sense of humor.  Neither translates well on the internet unless you know me personally.

WHY can't I delete this profile?

BAN me, whatever.  Just get me off this f#@ing site. (Even Facebook lets you quit, for God's sake.)  I promise I'll still visit your store.

  6. It was like a scene from The Exorcist tonight.  Pizza was involved.  And hanger, lol.  I stayed strong (somehow) and made my planned Curried Lentil Coconut Soup (soooooo good) and let my guys eat their #@$%& pizza without me.

Strong like a bull indeed! :D And I smell like curry still, LOL. But truthfully, this recipe is fantastic! Makes 6 cups/servings: 180 calories, 23 carbs, 9 fiber, 7 fat, 8 protein, 3 sugar. I did use S&B japanese curry (as recommended) and I used full fat coconut cream. I was carb-lean the rest of the day and made all of my targets! Try it! https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/curried-lentil-tomato-and-coconut-soup

I agree, but not so much last night when I was tired and hungry and had to make the damn stuff first! :D

  8. I had a setback yesterday. I went to the ER in severe stomach pain and nausea. It turns out that I had a stricture so the ER stabilized me and then I was transported to Wilmington Hospital, where I had the surgery to begin with. They did some emergent repairs. I am doing okay but in too much pain to get around. Anyhow, the surgeon emphasized rest and not getting up and moving. I will be discharged on Friday morning as they want to keep me for observation. Life happens but we keep moving, right-o?

  10. PSA:  Don't try to eat flank steak at Week #5, no matter how thinly it is sliced, how small the pieces are, or how much you chew them.  Just don't do it.

I usually stick to fish, chicken, cottage cheese, eggs, turkey rollups, etc. Beans are iffy for me still.

Nope. Might have been better if I did, though! It caught up with me a couple of hours after I ate, not right away, and I have no idea why.

  13. Stall Day #7...sigh

    1. Apple203

      Apple203

Yeah, good idea! Good luck on your stall, too, they suck. I mean, I'm eating 500-600 calories a day! I missed a meal yesterday because we were out running errands. I tried to have a couple of Chick Fil A grilled nuggets but they were terrible (I used to love 'em!), so I just didn't eat, and I was just fine. It really surprised me.

  15. Well, I have my surgery date for April 16th! 😀 Any suggestions from recent sleevers for an easier transition and healing process? Or just tips in general that were passed to you or you discovered that you'd like to share?

    1. Apple203

      Apple203

Two tips to consider: take Senekot every night for a week before surgery to help with post-op constipation (a local hospital near me recommends this). And start walking the hallways as soon as you are able to get rid of gas from surgery, which otherwise accumulates around your shoulders. Good luck to you!!

  18. Just had my 7th and final nutrition appointment this morning -- 5 weeks to go!!  Paperwork goes in for approval next week.  Pre-op diet starts on Feb 27th.  Excited!!!  :D

Visit was great, but I am up 2# from my initial consult -- oops! Fortunately, its not an issue with my insurance package!! Nutritionist says with my plan, approval is a slam dunk, TG. Can't change my date now, work schedule is too tight. All is good!

Hope you have a better day @FluffyChix -- that protein shake pre-op diet is brutal!!!!

  20. Knocked out Nutrition Class #5 of 6.  We covered the pre- and post-op diet, and I am THRILLED to report that I get to eat real food pre-op!  Four meals a day with 4-6 ounces lean protein, veges and salad (and 2T dressing), plus 3 fruits or yogurts a day.  Now that December is almost over, I am getting excited again.  :)

Thats basically my everyday breakfast -- except I opt for flax seed instead of psyllium. YOu'll rock it -- you've done great so far, like poster-girl territory for your nutritionist, I am sure!

      Hey @FluffyChix

I have a 7th appt one-on-one with nutritionist, so technically I have 7 appts, too. I have my date -- March 14th. I keep waiting for someone to start a March 2018 thread -- hey, a girl can dream!!!

Do you know what your pre-op is? All protein shakes is an option for us -- LMAO -- who would pick that? Granted, if that is what they recommended, I would absolutely do it, just not CHOSE it.

  22. Last night I made a recipe with a high grade szechuan peppercorn shells.  I read about the numbing properties, thought I'd be OK, but WOW, holy mackerel!!  I thought I was gonna die!  I had water to wash it down and the water tasted SO WEIRD.  Made me wonder if this is what I might expect after surgery.  I lived/ haha

The waiting sucks, no other way around it. Food funerals -- yep, having those. I gained about 5 pounds since August -- but I've settled into a 1500 cal 40-40-20 diet now. No pre-surgery wt loss requirements for me, Its awesome that you've lost weight ahead, because its going to go a long way to getting you to a solid final weight.

2 t, but it was for 4 servings. I'm totally with you in wondering what to expect post-surgery, like will my favorite things still taste OK? And if they don't, will it be permanent or temporary?

So did you get your date yet?

  24. My surgery is tomorrow and I’m going to cancel. I just don’t think I’m strong enough to handle all the stuff that goes along with this surgery. Thank you all for this wonderful group and I wish you well ❤️

Sue, she's a low-weighter -- she has other options available to her now and should at least give them a chance. This surgery is permanent. She is freaking out, and for a solid reason. She can always change her mind in the future.
