MyBariatricLife got a reaction from Oct517 in Caution: Top Plastic Surgeons Mexico City
My bed was hard, too, and I was at a real hospital. I think all hospital beds are that way. And don't get me started about only CNN. They really need to do better for American patients.

MyBariatricLife got a reaction from Berry78 in Let's Play Another Round of "How I Get My Protein" post WLS
I used to gain on 1500 (with extreme exercise). Lost slowly on 1200. It took forever to find the right combo of thyroid meds. I take 120mg NP Thyroid (similar to Armour) plus 100mcg levothyroxine. Now I can burn 1700 calories a day if I lay around and do nothing.

I used BeLiteWeight one month ago and had a great experience! Dr. Rodriguez was awesome and told me what to expect after the surgery so I wouldn't freak out. So far I am down 20 lbs.

I agree that this sounds like a real problem brewing. Were your legs so swollen when you were seen?
Your doc needs to not focus on any one problem and get a full picture of what is going on. Go back in. If he doesn't start talking about putting the puzzle pieces together, then you may need to get seen by someone else.

MyBariatricLife reacted to SIPS in Seattle in Should I be concerned? Incisions...
UPDATE: Made an appointment today and saw my surgeon's assistant for my incisions. I always thought they were sealed via a glue. Turns out they were dissolvable stitches. Which did not dissolve and apparently I'm a bit allergic to like I am to adhesives. So she numbed me up and debrided the bejesus out of my open wounds. I go back next week and hopefully see some major improvements. The only good news is that they were not infected, just irritated. Woot!

My doc said they stitched a muscle there. That's why it hurts. It took about two weeks to stop hurting.

I chose ALM for my gastric bypass revision. I originally lost 150 lbs., but gained back approximately 60 pounds after 5 years. After extensive research, I decided to have my revision performed by ALM. Without a doubt, this was the worst decision of my life. After forking out over $6,000 cash one of the first things I was informed of when I got to Tajuana was that there was no guarantee that I would lose any weight. They don’t bother informing you of this prior to payment. Although I have lost about 45 lbs. since the surgery my life has been a living hell. After I awoke from surgery I was told that an additional 2 feet of malabsorption were added. The additional 2 feet of malabsorption causes me to have AT LEAST 5 loose stools a day. I must plan any outings outside of my home to make sure there will be a toilet nearby. If there is not a toilet readily available I risk the chance of incontinence. The urge comes within a matter of minutes. The odor of the stools is unbearable. I was lucky enough to work at home after the surgery, but unfortunately, I was laid-off. I start a new job as a home health nurse tomorrow. I have no idea what type of embarrassment I will face. When I contacted, Dr. Ortiz, about this problem he simply stated, “take Imodium” an over the counter anti-diarrheal. This does not help at all.
If anybody is considering a revision I would seriously reconsider going to ALM. I now have no social life and have become a hermit.

My friend was initially unsupportive and concerned that I chose to go to Mexico. I told him to be supportive or shut up (yes, I was that blunt). After that he was much better, and his support was important for me after surgery when I was in a lot of pain.

Only saw my surgeon while in Mexico. He dropped in on me every day, and before the surgery he explained it and what I could expect after. Haven't seen anyone since coming home, but everything is healing well. Saw a new PCP and told him about the surgery and that everything had gone well.

Not that anyone cares lol, but i've been driving myself crazy trying to find a Cookies and cream Protein Shake that actually taste like a chick fil a oreo milkshake. (Because that was my fat kid all time favorite guilty pleasure lol)
I've tasted just about every disgusting cookies and cream shake and i've been disappointed until now. Surprising it wasn't anything fancy or expensive.
The GNC pro 100% whey Protein Powder mixed with fair life fat free milk gives me life. Like i'm literally in fat kid heaven.
It works out to about 37g Protein per serving.

MyBariatricLife got a reaction from Kristi Jacobs in Which hospital ?
I went to Star Medica through Be LiteWeight. This is in Juarez and is the hosital the U.S. embassy uses for American employees. It's a full service hospital with the second floor dedicated to American patients. The doctor spoke perfect English and explained everything to me. They kept me two nights and three days - no hotels or anything - you stay in the hospital the whole time. Very happy with my experience.

MyBariatricLife reacted to N0VA in Serious about MEXICO but many questions and concerns
I just had mine done in Juarez, Mexico at Star Medica on the 12th. I went through BeLiteWeight. I submitted all of my pre-op questions before I paid or scheduled or anything. Once I was approved for surgery by the doctor, I was scheduled and I started the pre-op diet. I have a lot of the same history you seem to have. Type 2 diabetic, gallbladder removed, d&c, etc. My fasting sugar was actually about 160 the day of my surgery due to my body healing.
The day I arrived, they did all of the pre-op testing. Ran labs, EKG, x-ray, and I filled out another questionnaire. They explained everything several times over with different people to make sure I understood everything. They did the scope while I was still under to check everything after the procedure and did a leak test the day before I left. It really was a great experience. The hospital was clean and quite nice, actually. I've never received better care from nurses. I'd choose it again in a heartbeat.

MyBariatricLife reacted to NYCkindofgirl in My dad's against vsg because of his faith?
Since this is the truth, I tell them, "I have fasted and prayed and this was the solution that the Lord sent to me. He gifted my medical doctor with the knowledge to send me to a surgeon with the skills to help me." I don't believe that having this surgery does anything to lessen my faith.
I don't know if that will satisfy your father, but it has helped me with other people. Have faith, once he sees you are feeling better and healthier, your father will come around.
