I only told a few people that were going to help me after surgery. Anyone else, I've kept it to myself and told them I was going in for surgery for something else. I just feel like I don't need to explain how I'm losing weight and taking care of myself. I can see how people may be Jealous , but they can go and get the surgery through their insurance if they need it too.

Hi, You will get so many symptoms after surgery because your body has changed. My emotions after surgery were so bad from the meds they used to put me under and the calorie intake was so low that I felt deprived. I'm almost 8 weeks after Surgery and I'm able to eat a little bit more and I'm starting to feel better. My Surgeon said it was normal to feel depressed and lots of anxiety after this massive change to your lifestyle. I feel what you are going through. It's sure different. Keep reminding yourself that your body is going through changes from the surgery and it will calm your anxiety down a little.

then don't go so long between meals!

keep chewing each bite until the little bit of dry meat becomes a lot of very liquid purée in your mouth. then swallow.
problem solved.

I'm almost 3 months and still get that. It is getting better though. I think you have to take a little, whatever is tolerable I'd say and you'll start to get used to it the more you eat it . Also, I know get full alot quicker from chicken than yogurt. Therefore I try to go slower when eating meat and anticipate that I'll need to stop eating alot sooner than with other foods. I also have that pain with drinking after eating sometimes even a good 2 hrs after I eat. I have to be careful with that first drink after eating to see how it will feel.

Solid foods such as chicken and steak can be difficult to eat. There is no need to rush things.
For chicken it must be very soft. For example, take a chicken breast and boil it in Water with a couple bouillion cubes on low heat for several hours. When the chicken falls easily apart with a fork then it is done.
I have found softer foods such as chili and Soups went down much easier and had more flavor so that is what I primarily stayed with. I have attached some recipes at the end of the following article. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf

Are you getting enough Water?

I get shoulder pain when I eat. The doc says it's referred pain from my stomach/gas. It may be the same thing. I agree, chew well. hope it gets better.

You're eating too much, too fast or not chewing well enough. And just 7 weeks out, I'm surprised you're eating hamburger. You're pouch has to get used to things again. Introduce the items slowly. One day they might be fine and another day, cause nothing but distress. CHEW, CHEW, CHEW. And maybe start with something less hard to digest. Let the pain guide you. Good luck; looks like you're making good progress!

Well everyone has different nutricional plan but in my experience i get that kind of sensation when i eat fast, too much or the food has a lot of fat example i can eat chicken really good but if i fry a lil bit that chicke or add a lil bit of pam my stomach reacts, i have the "pain sensation" and i cant eat much. Doesnt happen when i get fat free or steamed meals

I am 6 months out and I have the same problem and it is self inflicted. I still have bad habits of eating too much and/or too fast. I am glad it hurts so it reminds me to make better choices

Probably not gallbladder. Gas maybe?

I've had both types of stones Calcium and Muric Acid. (pre-surgery)
The Muric ones pass with much less pain. I did not really feel it until it was getting closer to my bladder. The calcium stones usually will bring you to tears as it passes. The pain does usually start in the lower flank. My kidneys usually feel like they are contracting (not sure how else to explain it). As the stone moves, the location of the pain will move with it.
A urine test is an easy way to quickly determine if kidney stones are an issue. If you are passing any blood (not always visible) or Protein in your urine they will probably do more tests. Calcium stones show up really well on an x-ray.

Where exactly is the pain? Might be gallbladder. I'd go see the Dr if it doesn't get better soon.

Yeah. I had one about 3 years out. Never had them before. It started as a slight pain in my back on one side. Felt like a pulled something at first. Aftet about 3 days of that, I then had to pee about every 5 mins off and on for about 2 days. Then the pain started to increase and I ended up lying on the basement floor for about 30 mins in excruciating pain. I then realized what it was. The next 4 days my bladder hurt and it felt like I was peeing razor blades. I drank a lot of Water during that time in hope to get it to pass. It did finally and everything cleared up about a week later.

About an hour before I passed it I made an appointment with a urologist. When I met with him he said the nature of gastric bypass will limit the absorbtion of Calcium. Calcium helps reduce kidney stones. When I go next month for my yearly gastric bypass visit I'm going to ask if I should increase my calcium intake.

I hope you aren't getting a kidney stone. It was probably the worst pain I have ever felt.

I lost 12 lbs the 2nd month and 12.6 lbs the 3rd month.

Hi my friends. I just wanted to know how much weight you lost in the second month and 3rd month after surgery? I know it depends on your weight from the start, but I wanted to see if anyone around my weight has lost and what in the 2nd and 3rd months after surgery.? Thank you.

I lost 11 lbs both months

I'm almost 4 months post bypass and have lost about 62 pounds so far. I honestly didnt start exercising (walking and riding my bike) until about a month ago. I also had terrible nausea for almost the first three months. You have the rest of your life to exercise dont stress about it right now just do what you can when you can! Good luck!
