So bottom line, it's our responsibility to our future health to take in the Protein that is going to repair our bodies and build new cells and maintain life. Those Proteins need to be easily digestible and bioavailable. They need to be complete. So whatever sources they're from: plant of animal, that's the bottom line. If you don't like it--then I highly encourage you to NOT have the surgery. Cuz it's a lifelong commitment that you make to get your daily protein in!!!!
This isn't a position of "those damn meat eaters" all they talk about is protein! It's not a political conspiracy to keep the man down. It's your nutritionists opinion that you need 100g of protein/day. So you follow it, or don't. They will be running tests on you and those tests are gonna tell the truth of your status.
Albumin and pre-albumin test for how much protein you are getting and have available. The lower the number the greater the association with death from all causes. Critically ill and malnourished people will have low values on these tests. And once you deplete your protein, it's very difficult to replace it--cuz it's much easier to replace it with fat. So you break down protein, you slow your metabolism, and once you DO start eating more calories (and you will--just wait and see), then you will be back crying cuz you've gained your weight back and you "just don't understand why"!?!
So if you want all to be well with your life, I'd recommend you meet your protein goals. Most of us have a goal of 60-80g of protein per day, cuz we're just average peeps of average musculature. I try to get at least 60g/day.

Hi guys, here's a super quick recipe that doesn't make a ton! You can even half it if you want. I just made it, ate a cup and froze the remaining in 1/4c servings for later.
Quick Broccoli cheese Protein Soup (Phase 2+)
Serving size: 1/4cup (for Phase 2)
    Number of servings: 5 (total recipe = 2 1/4c)
    Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups low sodium chicken broth (Central Market Reduced Sodium Chicken Broth-box)
7oz frozen broccoli florets (Sam's, Daily Chef)
    1/4 tsp granulated garlic (Tone's)
1/2 tsp dehydrated onion flakes (Tone's)
    1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp Better Than Bouillon Reduced Sodium Chicken
5 g whole psyllium husks (Now) or 3g Benefiber (either is optional)
48g unflavored Protein Powder (Isopure WPI)
56g On the Border Salsa con Queso
    14g grated Parmesan (Frigo grated)
    Instructions:
Throw broth, broccoli, gran garlic, onions, and black pepper into a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil, reduce to simmer. Simmer 5-10 minutes until broccoli florets are fork-tender. Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients. Use a stick blender or your favorite blender. Blend to as smooth a texture as you can get. If it's too thick, add hot Water to desired consistency. Makes between 5-6 servings (1/4c each). Serve immediately. Freezes well and reheats in microwave.
    Nutritional Information Per 1/4 Cup: 66cals; 11g protein; 1g fat; 4g carbs; 1g fiber; 3g net carbs

Next time, try subbing 2% cottage cheese for your mayo (can't remember if you are lactose intolerant?) then add 1 tbsp Greek yogurt and a tiny bit of mayo and a little bit of dijon mustard (chopped up Claussen dill pickle spear and a couple of chopped green onions if allowed).
It makes it so creamy, a better bang for your calorie and Protein buck, and tastes awesome!

I finally have a before/after. Sometimes I can't "edit" myself cuz something looks so good. I usually only put what I know will be eaten on my plate and weigh everything. That way I have a clean/healthy plate without leftovers. But I served 3.5oz of salmon + 3.5oz broccoli + 1oz ea avocado and Tomato. (Ended up finishing the avo, cuz I didn't want to throw it out or waste it.)
Ended up eating 3oz salmon, 2oz broccoli, 1oz avo, 1/2oz tom--pretty much what I always eat (by weight). LOL. There is comfort in predictability. I'm a little over 8 months out.

I do still GAF, but there are some concessions I am not very willing to make these days. Cuz I feel like, "Gah! If you're offended by my wrinkly batwings that wave in the wind, you shoulda seen me 190lbs ago! LOL. I'll show you offended!" LOL. So I do wear shorts and sleeveless shirts. Yay!
BUT! LOL, I can say I have a serious case of the T-Rex or praying mantis arms. I rarely wave my arms out and up over my head in a sleeveless shirt. LOL. (in public).

  22. Thanks
