  1. Since yesterday I crave sweet stuff. Luckily most of the protein stuff comes sweet. It's kind of interesting because the days before I craved more salty stuff.

Ok, so try this. You can google or YouTube either Anthony Bourdain doing eggs this way or Gordon Ramsay. I think they will be soft enough to fit in with puree stage, but will provide savory "chew".

I make "soft scrambled eggs" by Tony's method. I cook them slowly (and usually I mix them 1 whole egg to 1-2 egg whites) and split with Mr. F. cuz the fat in the yolk doesn't always sit well with me. But at about the 3/4 way mark, I mix in a heaping spoon of plain Greek yogurt. And stir the crap outta it until it looks creamy dreamy with small curds of soft egg.

You can also spice it how you want. Sometimes I add a few drops of toasted sesame oil and beat a little tamari into it if I'm jonesin' for Asian...

Gosh, I remember that time! And it has to be tougher for you, because you're so lean already! So you really don't have lots of reserves to at least quench hunger and create food ambivalence. ((hugs)). Are you vegan or lacto ovo vegetarian?

Well, way to rock the cravings then! Are you "repleat" feeling today or are you still craving? What did you eat the day before or meal before when you were craving?

Look to your last meal or the day before's meals. Most likely something there had too much sugar and it turned on your brain. Now your brain and insulin levels are a little jacked from it. I think you had some lucious pureed parsnip, carrot thingy? Maybe that just had too many faster acting natural sugars in it? When cooked, both parsnips and carrots are higher glycemic index/load?

  5. New found appreciation for you all!

So Im back in the US to take care of my aging father and it seems like more than ever that being bigger is the norm everywhere here. I cant say that Ive been the best, healthiest me at the moment, but I think you all Americans are doing GREAT to even be working towards the goal of getting healthier in face of all this temptation (even if you are a "slow loser"). So give all yourselves a pat on the back!

not much to update.  Weight is stable and labs are good.  always seem to be low on Vit. D but that seems to be the new it thing.

It's a weddings and Funerals kind of week and not something i enjoy so i needed the pick me up from the NSV page.  Keep posting there it really is little things that make this all worth it and reading about your small victories along the way helps more than you will ever know.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving and give those close to you a hug

  9. On the 3 week plateau from hell.. It seems like an endless desert with sand dunes that represent the 1-2 pounds gain then dropped from day to day. Met with my weight loss group tonight and was told its normal. That this is sometimes like a step, plateau then drop, plateau then drop. Only for the plateau's to go on longer the farther away from the surgery date I get. Much like EDM, I can't wait for the drop.

On top of it all, I lost my ass. Seriously.. its gone. All that cushion that I enjoyed lounging on eating what ever I ate, watching what ever was on the computer or tv... is gone. That glorious support system is vamoosed. I know this because my ass (tailbone) hurts all the time. I'm sitting on bone now and its sore. I am my own literal Pain in the Ass! (My family would say whats new, but who cares about them.. my butt hurts.) I have yet to bring a pillow with me everywhere I go to sit on, but I'm getting ready to as I sit for my job working on computers. So far losing the weight is a Pain. I hope it gets better.

      FluffyChix

      I have a butt pillow. I'm not proud. :D

The plateaus suck!!!! Keep the faith and motor on!

  10. I just read @BoredCW's status post and also want to lament the loss of my butt.  Looking at me the side, my back is basically flat from my neck to my knees.  My jeans have lovely fabric folds draping from my backside from lack of filling.

Two days ago, I was sitting on a worn couch at the gym and I could feel the springs and count how many I was sitting on.  Told the Kid and she said she wants to find her childhood alphabet fridge magnets in the basement to spell out words and have me sit on them and do some "butt-braille-reading" 😂

  11. My Surgeon asked me a question the other day and i didn't give it a lot of thought at the time.

    He asked "do you tell"

we were talking about peoples reaction to seeing me since i lost such a large amount of me.

I answered that i do tell if they ask but that it seems most everyone is afraid to mention it if they haven't seen me in a while or they decided they already know the answer so they don't need the truth from me (we all know those types)

I have had exactly one family friend come right out and ask me how i lost so much weight this year and i told her i had Gastric Sleeve.

I am sure family has passed it around to other family (you have that type family don't you? or is it just me) :)

So that left me wondering "do you tell" and i dont mean right at surgery time. more like a year or so down the road do you say how or do you just say cut out the sugar and carbs and WAALAA

Its a real personal choice to open yourself up to that kind of criticism and we know all about how we took the "Easy" way and yada yada yada.

hope everyone is having a great week

People know cuz my sissies have big mouths. And when skinny peeps ask out of morbid curiousity and they are "related" somehow to me, I look at em and arch my eyebrow and smile like, WTF? Then I just shrug and say, "I can neither confirm nor deny." (I've practiced this in the mirror many times. LOL!)

But today, I was talking to a lady in my oncologist's office and she said "Oh don't you love you Surgeon X - bariatric surgeon? I'm in her weigh loss program!" And so I really opened up to her and talked frankly about the program and the surgery and details and how I'm so much happier and healthier, etc. So there has to be a real genuine need and desire for comraderie--otherwise, "Bye Felicia..."

  12. Looks like I need people around to complete a 10K.  I tried to do one by myself this afternoon and I gave up at around the 7km mark.  Gonna try again on Friday, but I may have to look into joining a running club...

      FluffyChix

      Join a running club!!! Woot!!!

  13. Yup, I did it! I RAN my SECOND continuous 5K ever this morning! There is an option to do a 10K Sunday morning and I'm going to give it a try. It's basically the 5K twice. Even though this is a girls' trip, I kinda wish Mr. was here so he could witness my awesomeness.

@FluffyChix, no it wasn't on the beach nor was I wearing a bikini, but I think I should get bonus points anyway, just for doing it a second time 😎

Holy heck!! My emoji is a gobsmack to me. :) I'm not confused, but forever after this I will use that emoji as it should be used...to indicate surprise, shock, gob-smackedness! :D

Huge congrats!!! I am not worthy!! SOOO not worthy! Amazing! Inspiring!

  15. So this morning I RAN my first continuous 5K ever.  On vacation, no less!!  I had gone to the hotel gym with the intention to do 45 mins of run/walk on the treadmill when I crossed paths with a group (led by hotel staff) who were going off-grounds for a group run.  They convinced to join them and I totally did it!!!  Funny because if I were alone I would have gave up at 3km...the presence of the others brought out my "if-you-can-do-this-so-can-i-dammit"  attitude..gonna join them again on Friday!

    1. FluffyChix

  17. Is this it?

I have stopped losing weight and have been hovering between 215-225 lbs for 4 months.  My 1-year surgery anniversary is coming up, which means that my "honeymoon period" is coming to an end.  It's too late now for me.  I am so disappointed.  I only lost 50% of my excess weight; I had such high hopes that I could actually meet my goal.  But I guess this is it, and I am so depressed about it.  Like, what was even the point?!  I made an irreversible change, and I have to live with the consequences without getting the benefits.

I've been avoiding going back to my surgeon because I have been so sooo embarassed by my lack of progress.  What would he say?  I like him, but he doesn't spend a lot of time with patients because he is so busy, and I just haven't been prepared to get a beat-down about the lack of weight loss.  I mean, I haven't been doing everything perfectly, but I have been making much better choices and getting more exercise than before the surgery, but that wasn't enough, and now I'm doomed to be fat and unhealthy forever.

    1. FluffyChix

      FluffyChix

Come post on the main board where we all see you. And in answer. You are still in the honeymoon. You can STILL lose weight. But, maybe YOU personally can't do anything BUT be perfect? Maybe you have to go back to your forever diet basics and follow the book? Maybe quit the cheats. Start weighing daily. Plan, weigh, measure and post all your food in a journal like MFP.

I will tell you honestly, if I didn't do that, no way would I be where I am now. I don't know too many of the posters here who would be. Most of us who have above average success in % put a heller amount of work into our daily food plans. And no, we're not perfect, but we do not try to wing it. Cuz we know that way leads to maintenance and not loss.

For me to lose, SLOWLY, I have to keep my cals consistently in the 650-850 range, 50-80g protein, and usually around <35g of carbs. It's sad. But true. ANd that's my reality. But the payoff of seeing the scale move is worth way more than that "fill in the blank" off plan food or drink. Just sayin.

Follow up with your doc. It's important and maybe your RD can help. Maybe you need to also see a therapist to help with the head work? Maybe there is a medical issue that needs to be addressed? Follow up hon. All else is pure speculation.

Well holy crap!!! I'd always suspected that the whey protein drinks were highly insulinogenic (for me), cuz my weight loss always responds better for me when I'm eating real foods than when I'm on protein drinks...and I read this as I'm drinking an atypical afternoon iced protein coffee cuz I've been doing a really "shitty" job getting my protein in since my surgery. :( Ok, starting tomorrow, no more protein drinks--all protein from food and I somehow someway make myself get in my 60-80g/day!!!

TY for sharing this!!! I'd either missed or ignored it. Those damn incretins! :(

  18. So just came back from my first mini-vacay since getting into maintenance.  I didn't have a food nor body scale, so I was winging it.  I estimated to have taken in well over 2000 calories for each of the 4 days we were road trippin'.  I was fully prepared to see a noticeable weight increase upon our return due to the higher volume and calorie rich foods I was eating.  Plus I didn't poop the entire time, so all the food is technically still in me, lol.

Imagine my surprise when I got on the scale this morning and it read 116.2 😲

The exact same weight I was the morning I left.  WTF?

  20. Ok...so keeping my daily weight updated on here is getting tedious due to the the daily 0-3 lbs fluctuations.  Soooo...I figure I'm just going to update every 1-2 weeks moving forward.

Yeah, I kinda do it when I see a new low. Then it fluctuates up and down up and down until I finally see a new low. Mine went down to 131 on Saturday but is now back to 133, lol. So I won't log it till I see 131 for a second time.

I do my daily weight graph in My Fitness Pal. Much easier and it keeps a cool graph!!

Yogurt. Matcha yogurt. ;) LOL. I could have thinned down yogurt and kefir on my full liquids phase. Maybe email your RD and ask if that's also on your full liquids. I use Peach and Cream, and Bananas and Cream in my yogurt to thin it into a soup right now. :)
