  1. Hello All, I work at Wells Fargo and have Anthem BCBS with them. I am in process to complete my 6 month diet requirement for surgery in the middle of December! My doctor said if they get my approval back within 5 business days they can get me in before year end. This makes a big difference in paying $1k then to $5k in January. Anyone who works with Wells with this insurance, I just want to know approval timeframe?
  2. How many days has to be between each diet visit??

    Anthem BCBS Approval Time

That is very good to hear! My doctor already told the admin to have everything ready to submit after my last visit. My last visit is going to be December 5th. So that only gives me 16 business days before the end of the year to get approved and surgery 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤷🏼‍♀️ Having my fingers crossed the whole time!
  4. Thank you for that information, I need everything to go as smooth as possible 🤞🏻🤞🏻
  5. I hope so my 6 month diet will end in the second week of dec. and they want to get me in before the end of the month so I don’t have to pay so much. I’ll pay $800 this year compared to $5k next year!
  6. I just got information back from my doctor and they said as long as they are 26-30 then it's good. I have Anthem BCBS as well, how did your approval process go? @Briswife15

Thank you so much for that!! They want to get me in and they have already told the administration person to have everything ready to submit the day I complete! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 If they approve quick I only have 14 days remaining after I complete to get approval and a scheduled surgery!! 😳😳
  9. HELPP!! I am looking to get weight loss surgery which my neurologist said is the best option for me. I have PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) which makes it extremely hard for me to loss weight. I have been diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, my neurologist is worried about me losing my vision and said and had a significant amount of fluid on my brain causing a lot of strain on my optic nerves causing my vision changes and loss of vision. I have pain, pressure and headaches all day long. I can't really enjoy anything because of the pain and now I am worried about losing my vision. I have insurance through Wells Fargo which is BCBS Anthem of GA. They require you to do a six month diet. My neurologist said that I should not wait that long to have weight loss surgery as this will help the IIH and PCOS. I called my insurance today and they agreed that it was a serious issues and could talk with my neurologist about waiving the 6 month diet plan. I already have my appointment scheduled for pre-op so hopefully they can get it waived and my psych eval is on Sept 6th so after that hopefully I can schedule surgery. I really hope they see the urgency with this issue as I don't want to do any further damage to my eyes and my neurologist agrees. Has anyone else been through the same issue and getting approved for WLS through insurance? Or experience the same issues?
  10. I have decided not to go through with the surgery. If they can fix the pain I have in my head then I believe I can do this. :)

@Berry78 That's what I did. It is helpful either way because my insurance would accept any attempts at medically supervised weight loss over a 2 year span, so even if I decided against it and changed my mind later, I wouldn't have to start the process over again.

I ultimately went through it because after losing 30 lbs on my own in the first 4 months. I eased up a bit in my 5th month and even though I stuck mostly to plan, but had a few "last hurrah" days in there, I gained 20lbs back in month 5. I realized then and there I could not do it on my own.

      Sage advice, my friend.

I completely understand that. I definitely want to learn the nutrition side of things. I wasn't able to make the first nutrition appointment this past Monday because of work. I hope I can continue to go and learn and develop a sense a good eating habits. My biggest down fall is the support that I have at home. My partner eats whatever whenever and that doesn't seem to help me at all. So getting him on board with eating with me and eating what I eat will help me succeed the most.

@smb123 I struggled at first myself, my nutritionist got me together and did not allow me to give up.Also, the nurse practitioner helped me tremendously as well.I almost gave up twice, but I have decided to go for it. I'm praying for you and I know you will make the best decision for yourself :780_sparkling_heart:

Well that's not too bad hopefully you want feel it too much longer.

I haven't had surgery yet. I might have to have brain surgery first. I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension. Just depends on what steps the doctor thinks is right at this point but my weight is causing that so might do the WLS first or the other.

  12. I am so scared right now, I don't know I am switching my Neurologist now. Keep me updated on your daughters progress. That is very true about the weight loss, makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about any type of surgery....
  13. Oh okay, so they did waive it for the medical reason? Did it state in the medical policy as a requirement. Did you get first letter approval or did you have to appeal it? and if you appealed it did you submit a letter of appeal or your doctor? Just trying to get as much information as I can to get it done as quickly as possible. My deductible has been meet for this year as well so I wouldn't have to pay anything else out of pocket.
  14. So they waived the six months for you, what insurance company do you have?
  15. Hey same thing, thing they called it both. OMG that is horrible my heart goes out to you as well. The pain is unimaginable and only people with it can understand the struggle of daily life. I am so happy for you. Did they say surgery would most likely cure this for you? I am so scared of having a shunt put in. I would think my insurance would rather do weight loss surgery than brain surgeries. My co worker has this condition and they didn't know that weight caused it when she was diagnosed. She has had 6 surgeries since she found out.
  16. I forgot to tell everyone my name is Samantha LOL. Yeah he needs to because it's coming either way!!! That's true. I don't do well in group settings, I just feel weird and out of place. I would like to meet out for a fun night you know.
  17. I couldn't imagine what you are going through right now. I want you to know that you were amazing before and you are amazing now. The only thing different is your look and how you feel never forget that. You are an inspiration. Keep your head up!!
  18. Geri Marie Ill have to take a look at that app? is that for iphone? If he is still not with you when the time comes I am sure he will once you get it and he will realize that he should have been with you all along. Just do it for you because you know what's best. I'll be here to support you!!! I know it's hard to not have him fully supporting you on it but he loves you he will come around.
  19. What a prune LOL, Thank you so much she is getting big to quickly. I have another little girls she just turned 7 in July. I love memes!!! I know exactly what you're talking about people just baffle me in how they treat others but get so made if you treat them how they treat you. So I just do what I please. I also love that I can talk freely here. Feels amazing.
  20. PREACH I don't understand why people cant keep their mouths shut and just be happy for someone that they can live longer and enjoy them selves instead of putting them down and making them feel worse about themselves. Trust me it sucks I just had a little on in February and I thought my knees would give out. She's my little miracle though <3
  21. I need to look that up now. I am willing to do anything at this point to save my vision. I need to see my babies grow up. I haven't been able to eat very much over the past 5 days and lost a little over 8 pounds. I was at the Emergency department all afternoon yesterday my vision went out in my left eye and I couldn't feel my neck. I hope you daughter is okay I wish nothing but the best for. I am so sorry that she is going through. I this pain on no one.
  22. Hopefully not too much longer. Yeah I feel that same way but hey I just want to feel better and be a better person for my babies and myself and no one else. So who cares what their opinions are. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!
  23. Joeibaby-thank you so much I hope so too! Working for a big corporation like Wells Fargo and having that many people pay for insurance they shouldn't put so many restriction and loop holes on people.
  24. That's very interesting. I read a lot about the band and the sleeve. I was very confused about the two until I went to the seminar and the surgeon said the same thing as you just said Geri Marie. So I am going to go with the sleeve the other surgeries scare me so bad. The sooner they get everything fixed for you the better. Sometimes I don't think people understand how hard it is to lose weight. Some people it is easy but people just don't try to understand. I am glad I found a site like this to discuss things with people who actually understand and are there with you. Yeah and I don't think none of us are Newbies to this, it's a long struggle.
