    9 months out progress pics

You look great! Awesome job! Inspirational!
  2. I had 5 very tiny incisions - I had laparoscopic robotic vertical sleeve gastrectomy. My doctor told me ahead of time that the incisions are smaller when performed robotically. I didn’t specifically ask for it to be performed robotically, it was just luck that my surgery was scheduled on a day where the VSG’s were performed that way. I wouldn’t be too concerned about the tiny scars - you can always use Mederma or BioOil to help with healing.

    Sleeve Procedure at 60

I’m 62 and had my sleeve on 1/2/18. I had acid reflux prior to surgery and continue to take Pantoprazole post-surgery. I do have occasional vomiting that I believe is due to eating too fast; when I slow it down it isn’t an issue. I do have occasional diarrhea; not really sure why though.

    Cons?

I also have GERD (had it prior to surgery). I remain on Pantoprazole and have not had any issues in that regard.
  5. Yes......I had to do them for 14 days following surgery. Sometimes they burned really bad for a short time; other times not an issue. Just so glad to be done and grateful that my team wanted to be extra cautious at preventing blood clots.
  6. Awesome idea! Will need to start doing this.

Hubby has had a change of heart

Congratulations!!! [emoji322] So awesome that hubby is supportive. One of my main reasons for having the sleeve was to get rid of the “Hoover” connected to my nose (aka the CPAP).

    Sugar grams

I just had surgery on 1/2/18 and don’t have my post surgery follow up until Friday. I will certainly ask this question at that time, but I am just wondering whether veteran sleevers have ever been given a definitive maximum amount of sugar grams they can have per day. I know that early on it is really preferred to use a sugar substitute and I am following that rule (i.e., using Splenda in hot tea, etc.), but I want to be cognizant of what I’m putting into my (new and improved) body in the future. Thank you.
  9. Amazing transformation and so inspirational! Thank you for sharing.

    I'm freezing

I, too, seem to be cold all the time now, where in the past I would be sweating. I look at it as a good thing in that we are losing the fat that used to keep us warm. I also use heating pads and such.

    February 6th vsg surgery

Not sure if you’re allowed, but I, too, missed coffee during my pre-op diet. I ended up ordered Chike coffee protein powder on Amazon (it’s kind of expensive); mixed it with Fairlife non-fat milk and a few ice cubes and it satisfied my need for coffee.

    Got Bad News

You can do this! I gained pre-op too. At my first visit I weighed 209, then pre-surgery visit I was 229 and had to be on a liquid diet over the holidays for almost three weeks! I dropped 20 pounds in those 3 weeks. Good luck to you!

    liquid diet

I love the banana & cream Premier protein - it’s my favorite. I also like Chike coffee protein powder mixed with Fairlife non-fat milk and a few ice cubes.

    Liquid diet depression

I can definitely relate; protein shakes can be so boring, but just keep your eye on the prize: very soon you will have your surgery and it’s such a great tool. In a few months your svelte self will be beaming at you when you look in the mirror. Good luck on your journey and hang in there.
  15. The posts on this site are great! After being in a stall for nearly two weeks, I upped my protein intake and also upped my fluids and it paid off! (I also walk at least 2 1/2 miles every other day). From 1/21/18 until 1/30/18 I weighed 195.2. I now weigh 193.4 and I am so happy!!!! Laparoscopic VSG: 1/2/18 HW: 229 SW: 209 CW: 193.4 GW: 140, but will reassess when I get there Height: 5’3”

    Finally broke the stall!

Yes, I just had surgery a month ago. After reading many posts here on BariatricPal I discovered that many, many people hit a stall at three weeks. My sleeve journey started in April or May 2017; it was at that time I first spoke with a weight management center in my local area. I weighed 209 pounds at the time (my highest recorded previous weight was 240, but I was able to drop a lot of weight on a combination of a Belviq and phentermine, but then the meds stopped working). Of course there are prerequisites to having the sleeve performed and I spent months satisfying all of the requirements. Around September or October 2017, I was concerned that if I stayed on a low fat, low carb diet that I would lose too much and no longer qualify for the surgery because my BMI was going to dip below 35 (I have comorbidities including sleep apnea). When I called my weight management center and discussed my concerns with them, they said that I didn’t have to be really strict with my diet because I still did not have a surgery date. Well, very foolishly, my diet became a free for all and I gained 20 pounds in a few months. Finally, on December 14, 2017, I met with my team and when the dietician saw the weight gain she immediately had me go on the pre-op liquid diet. I had weighed in at 229 pounds. My surgery was scheduled for 1/2/18, so I was on that pre-op diet over the holidays and for longer than the usual 2 weeks. In retrospect, I am grateful that my team made that decision and I am glad that I stuck with it because by the day of surgery I was back down to 209. Today I weighed 193.4 - that’s a total weight loss of 35.6 pounds in about 7 weeks. I think that’s outstanding!
  17. At 12 days out my plan allowed me to have low-fat cottage cheese, yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, low sugar oatmeal, low fat string cheese or Babybel cheese, tuna salad, and chili. Surely one of these foods will satisfy your food craving.

    Electronic weight loss program recommendations?

I use My Fitness Pal to track weight and food intake and also because it connects to Map My Walk and will sync my walks in the MFP app automatically. I love that feature!

Not at only one week out from surgery!

    Protein and week one eats

If you like smoked oysters.......22g protein in the whole can and the consistency is great one week out.
  22. Maggie1955

    Snacks

I still have SF Jello. I also like to keep deviled eggs on hand because I think it makes a great snack for me. I also have Cracker Cuts Pepper Jack cheese - 4 slices = 0 carbs, 9g fat, 8g protein.

    Weight loss for far

How much and how often do you exercise@kandieqvt1? I am 4 weeks post-op VSG and I try to walk every other day. Including my pre-op liquid diet, I am down a total 34.6 pounds.
  24. Maggie1955

What was for breakfast this morning?

I have no problem with them. The consistency is just right since I’m only out 4 weeks from surgery.
