  1. I lost my original journal. So here I am starting anew.. Highest weight before surgery 287 Current weight 220. I could have lost more but I'm fighting my demons. My weakness is cookies and chips. During a meal I will favor protein and veggies. So it does keep me from gaining. Still watching my sugar intake. I find if I wait too long to eat, hunger makes my meal decisions. Last night I ate too fast and wound up eating too fast-then getting sick, and then filling up on chips. My bad habits are lurking right around the corner. Whatever I decide to eat, I set a timer on my smart watch for 30 min before I allow myself liquid. Like I said l, no gain. But not a single piund list in Feb. Gave up dairy this week and lost 2 lbs. Finally honest with myself that Im lactose intolerant. A few NSV: I can run up a flight of stairs. I'm outgrowing size 16 pants. I took my son to a bday party and was not self conscious and was somewhat social. My overall mood is good. Still happy amd proud of myself. :-D

4.5 Months – Eating Too Much?

I don't know about stretching. But by 6 months the swelling insude your stomach goes down which allows for a little more intake. My post op instructions say the after 6 months and for the rest of my life, my meals should not exceed 8oz total.
  3. Just keep sipping my post op diet basically had me gradually increase my fluids unti i could make the 64 oz requirement. I count broth as fluid also, and added protein powder to it. Your intake will improve as you heal. Im 5 months post op and can drink a lot more at a time.

    Coffee

I caved and drank within a month, I think. I only have 1 cup a day and it takes me forever to finish. As long as you are meeting your fluid intake I think it's fine. But, of course, check with your surgeon. They all have different rules.
  5. I got my approval mainly by having a high BMI and being classified as morbidly obese. It still took me 8 months because of all the testing.
  6. It's starting to feel really real right now. My pre op diet starts tomorrow and my last meal was a salad! I have a bunch of liquids and some Premier protien shakes for tomorrow and I'm waiting on my Amazon delivery of actual protein powder in the next few days. Highest weight was 286 and current weight is 284.4 I have my pre surgical testing tomorrow morning. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. The stomach flu visited my house this weekend. 1 child, my hubby and me, all while planning a birthday party. I managed well, trying to stay hydrated and sane and it all worked out in the end. I had my follow up appts today. My endo jad to lower my synthroid..it seems I'm slightly over active. But I have no negative symptoms, sonwe came to a compromise. I get skip 1 day of dosage. Saw mu surgeon today. Ive lost 52lbs since surgery. (My scale says 60 :-) ) His scale 230 My scale 227 we also started counting at different times. He says I'm halfway there which would put me at 178? I read the weight chart in his office and "ideal" weight range for me would be 132 ish to 144. But I would be more than happy at 175. Anyway for those counting (me) Highest weight 287 Current weight 227
  8. Quick update: down to 234.6 as of this morning. Had no appetite until dinner tonight so will prob lose a little more. I haven't been 100 percent good. More like 75. I seem to hit a stall every 3 weeks but I'm noticing my body change even on days..especially on days that I dont lose weight. For example, my tummy shrunk and my legs that were jiggly one day are back to solid :-) Heres hoping for minimal loose skin. Hair loss: started at around 6 to 8 weeks. I have a thyroid condition so I'm no stranger to hair loss, ans I was blessed with a lot of hair so not totally upset. It is annoying tho because I she hair at the worst moments, like cooking or at work. Stress is paet of life and I'm not handling it well. Fighting the urge to quit my job. With the surgery I lost my coping mechanisms and am searching for new ones. So far I've go lt cooking, music, and organizing. Thanksgiving came and went. I did so much cooking and was only able to eat a few bites. That was depressing, watching everyone eat. On the upside. L, at least I lost weight during the holidays..thats a first. My pantss are lose everywhere but my belly and I'm still a size 16 pant down from 18 and a 1x shirt down from 3x. I always wear 1 size bigger to hide my belly. People are really noticing my weight loss and commenting.akes me very shy and self conscious. While my surgery is not a secret Im not exactly shouting it fro the rooftop lol. I tell people privately to avoid a big discussion. Anyway, guess not a short ipdate after all. Hope everyone is doing well.

    Surgeon's expectations

I still have my thyroid, but i have Hashimotos. My levels are controlled by synthroid. Prior to surgery, my endo tapered me down from 75 to 50. Im at 50 now. My surgeon thinks i will lose 100lbs in 6 months. Im almost 3 months out and lost 50lbs already. I don't expect anothe 50lbs in the next 3 months bc my weight loss has slowed, but im okay with that. I think if I lose 10 lbs a month im okay. I started my journey at 287 and am at about 235.
  10. Today I learned the value of tiny baby bites. I usually get full and uncomfortable quickly. Well today I went to chick fil a and ordered the grilled chicken nuggets and was able to eat 7 nuggets in about half an gour by taking baby bites and chewing well. I filled up for a while...longer than ifI had gobbled up 3 nuggets and immediately get sick which is how I was mistakenly doing this entire time. One of my main issues pre op was eating too fast. There is a TMI story behind that statement which most can fugure out. Anyways, down to 240! So excited. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Im on a mobile site and im havi g a hard time figuring out how to update my profile. Will try again tho. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. Im 2 months post op today. Down 43 lbs total. Im finally down 1 pant size, although they do fit tight around the waist. I think i might be dow 2 shirt sizes but Im afraid to try anything smaller than 2x. People are definitely noticing my weight loss. I struggle every day with food choices. My surgeon made my pouch really small and that has prevented me from Overeating. Im no good at meals, I get full immediately and cannot eat more than 1 oz of meat at a time. So i take breaks. I recently had a wedding anniversary and hubby wanted to take me out for dinner and a movie but I conveniently did not make childcare plans. Im afraid of going out to eat bc all I can prob have is a small soup. I cannot finish a meal. I have experienced the blahs and try to take it 1 day at a time. I know this is common and hope that I can get past it.. i already feel certain cravings coming on. The only thing that has saved me is my tiny pouch and I know it will not be enough down the line. Just hoping to make it thru the holidays which include my kids' bdays. Im now averaging 2 days per week at the gym. Current weight = 244 Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
  13. Im 6 weeks post op today. Dowm to 252. Weight loss has definitely slowed. Have only made it to the gym 2 times in 2 weeks. Got Jury duty. Still not down a pant size, they're loose everywhere but my belly. I am down a shirt size though. I've been having dizzy spells where I cant bend over or look up. Started being more diligent with my vitamins and I am seeing an improvement with the dizziness. I am completely bored with Crystal light and am falling behind on water intake so Im now using the MIO drops and it is much better. My nails were growing so well and I broke 3 today, so I'm back to the beginning. I found gummy women's vitamins tht have biotene so here's hoping my hair, skin and naips see an improvement. 14. Tomorrow is my 1 month since surgery. I'm down 30 (31?)lbs total! I weighed in at 255.6 this morning. I am not tolerating meat well. Mostly because I miss it and always overdo it, so I spend the next hour sick and throwing up. Each time It happens is at dinnertime. So I've given up on meat for a while. I ve been having protein trail.mix with no problems as well as low fat soft cheese and I am continuing protein shakes until i can properly get my daily protein elsewhere. Going out has not been a problem since I pack my own food. I have found out i can tolerate my kid's snacks which is very dangerous for me. Im bored of water and Crystal light. So Im diluting juice half and half with water, but have only done that twice. I have added caffeine in the morning and limit myself to 1 cup a day. Tea is my second fav drink. My surgeon has cleared me for exercise and I tried to get on my treadmill today but the kids were not having it. I got about 15 to 20 min on between breaks of checking up on my rowdy boys. Will try again tomorrow. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. I returned to work last week Friday with the okay from my surgeon. I did alright, walking around the job and walking around at home os not the same so I had to pace myself for a while and now I've regained my strength. Vitamins make me nauseous and do I dread taking them to the point that I forget to take them some days. Im not supposed to lift more than 10 lbs but I have to pick up my toddler sometimes and I do so carefully using my arms or leg strength, so far so good. I still get dizzy spells. Have struggled with water intake. Im bored of Crystal light. I'm down to 260 and have stayed there almost a week. I let myself get over hungry and tried 1/2 meatball. Ate about half if it too fast (old habit) and immediately regretted it for the next half hour. Now I hate meatballs. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. I have my post op follow up this afternoon. My incisions look great. Allergy is gone. I feel great except for the dizzy spells. I have had less than 200 cal for the day and its 3pm. I am bored of broth and soup. Will try some sf jello or pudding. I'm hoping for good news from my surgeon and will need the go ahead to return to work. I have already driven around town. Done minor cleaning and organizing around the house. My new hobby is organizing...thats what Im going to put my energy into in the next few months. Still holding at 263 (-23) Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. I mentioned before my stoach rash due to allergic reaction to the surgical glue. Well yesterday was the worst. I almost called my doctor, i couldnt stand it. Well I started taking oral pill benadryl and washing my abdomen with cetaphil twice a day and re applying cortisone cream. I had 2.5% from a previous issue. At bedtime, I read the box and saw that I could take 2 pills. So I did and woke up to a much better situation. So I will be repeating the benadryl and cortisone untill it's completely gone. 18. Day 5 post op wrap up. I went in to baruatric group therapy yesterday and they were happy ans impressed to see me up and about. Really no pain unless I over sip. Sometimes stress will cause some cramping. My incisions are itching like crazy. Finally got to the pharmacy to get benadryl pills and lotion. Also had to buy chewable vitamins...totally had forgotten about them. Got all my protein in. Indulged in a sugar free ice pop. Craving all food! I won't give in for obvious reasons but also I'm afraid of hurting myself. I did sniff one of my kid's cookies.. then threw it out. Im at About 21lbs down. 20. Just wanted to add. I usually write a summary of the day before and I forget some things. My family and friends have been super supportive and check in om me daily. No matter how much anti nausea meds I received, I still got sick. I found out later that the narcotics I was being given post op cause have undesirable side effects (cue foaming ). Some people will not need them. I did for about a day. I had buyer's remorse for About a half a day. Head hunger is real. I'm having a hard time being around those who can eat. ( my hubby is making eggs and sausage right now). My first day back his family came over and they ordered chinese. So I walked over to my neighbor's for about an hour. Things do get better with time. 21. Day 4 post op. Water water water. I got 30 grams of protein in with 6 oz broth. It took 3 hours. I spent the entire day getting my water in. It was hard to swallow. I got wierd sensations in my tummy/throat. I made my quota by bedtime. I noticed that I burped with every sip. My nurse gave me medicine cups to measurr out my liquids but It was getting annoying carrying both water bottle and measuring cup around so I took an 8 oz water bottle and refilled omce completed. That worked for me. I am not feeling any pain and can pretty much move around like I used to. I do have to fight the urge to pick up my son. I have an allergic reaction to the surgical glue and took children's benadryl. Bad idea. Experienced dumping syndrome because of the sugar. This mornimg I'm feeling even befter than yesterday. Drinking water has become easier. So, today's goal is getting in all of my protein. Total weight loss 20 lbs. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. 3 days post op and I have'nt eaten much. Yesterday I had about 2 to 3 tablespoons of food. (Jello, broth, and hospital protein). I was released and trued 2 sips of protein which was way too heavy and would not go down. So, for the rest of the day I just focused in water and got maybe 8 to 10 oz in. A lot of family showed up which was nice but I just wanted to go to bed. I had what I can only describe as spasms in esophagus. My incision sites do not hurt at all but they look horrible. Mainly because I'm having an allergic reaction to the surgical glue and whatever else they rubbed on my stomach. Im finally back in my regular prescriptions (they are small enough to swallow whole with 1 oz of water diluted juice). I thought I would not need pain medicine but I am getting cramping and spasms so I did take a half a pill before bed. I woke up today to 267.8 lbs. I want to thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers. Surgery went well and I'm now focused on recovery. 🤗 Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app
