    Pregnant

I had a c-section and our daughter was born 3 weeks earlier. I tried to push her out but it was not good for the both of us. I had Chorioamnionitis resulting in an last minute Csection...

    Pregnant

I know this post is old. I got pregnant 6 months post op from gastric sleeve surgery. I delivered a healthy girl 7/26. I still ate the same and it was fine. This is my second pregnancy and a total surprise. Didn't think I would get pregnant at all since im 40 years old and believe the baby making ship sailed long ago. My baby is now 9 weeks old, im back to eatting super healthy to catch up and get back to my regimen before pregnancy. I never had a chance to get to my goal weight but I am more determined than ever! Congratulations your going to have an amazing time being a mom. I realized I am a better mom in my 40s than I was in my 20s.

    Might be pregnant

I know this post is older but I got pregnant 7 months after I had my surgery. As I type right now, I am literally in my second trimester (I conceived in November 2018) Everything is going great so far. I only gained 6 pounds in 4 months, my goal is to stay under 15 lbs total. I still drink protein shakes and do my best to eat good wholesome choices. I go to town on roasted caulifower with curry powder. I think my baby loves her grilled veggies. I was 20 lbs from my goal weight and super active at the time I conceived too so I still do HIIT training Tuesday /Thursdays, Pilates 2x a week Wednesdays/Sundays, and atleast 1 spin class a week. I am so afraid of losing control and gaining it all back but so far so good. If you are pregnant congratulations...Remember to drink a boat load of fresh water, and stay active. You have a bigger reason to stay healthy as possible and enjoy life with your child. Make it happen!!

How are the May sleevers doing?

I am 20 lbs from hitting goal weight and feeling real strong. As of Monday, found out I am pregnant. My husband and I have tried concieving the past two years, and did so many tests. No outcome. After weight loss, followed by improvement of health (No high blood pressure, apnea, etc) we got a miracle baby. I was told at the start of surgery to be careful and NOT get pregnant but at my age, we're thrilled. Before pregnancy my weight loss was great! I feel strong and my skin is pretty good (besides my lower stomache) Now, Im doing my best to eat healthy and not overly gain weight because im eating for 2. Im still chowing down on veggies, salads, staying away from fried foods, etc, and really planning on only gaining weight around my belly not everywhere else and safely shed baby weight with diet/exercise. Ive had stalls but I feel like alot of my stalls was from gaining muscle. My stomache is still small and im glad ill be feeding my baby healthy nutritious food instead of pizza, and just bad stuff that I would have been eatting a few years back.

    Denied by Aetna POS II

Didn’t have to do a peer to peer. After I completed 90 day multi disciplinary regimen, I was approved for surery 10 days after all my paperwork was submitted.

    Anyone else HATE Protein Water?

I never want to drink it again. I bought so much favoried clear protein for the pre-op clear liquid diet and have alot left over...It makes me cringe.

    Another surgery?

Everyone will about regain about 20% of their weight back after 2 years regardless gastric sleeve or RNY... However RNY has better weight loss results and longer lasting results as the food travels shorter and doesnt stays within your body long enough. RNY is considered the mecca of weight loss procedures. It also says in your link "Most patients report 50 to 60 percent EWL within two years and then subsequent weight regain. These are the patients who seem to benefit most from a revision procedure to eliminate the weight regain" Now for the poster, her potential end result is 189 lb per gastric sleeve calculator and this is with a 20% chance, a 50% chance is 210 after 18 months. If she has another procedure, her starting point will be at her present weight and she will be able to break into the 150's, and hopefully maintain it with some work and dedication. I hands down agree with you that forever dieting is something we will need. Its a must. It's unavoidable for us. I also know from sitting in nutrition class with people over 325 + that weight loss surgery sometimes requires 2 surgeries.

    Another surgery?

In my weight loss meetings there were people in process of doing a second surgery. Many times gastric sleeve doesn't always work for permenant weight loss. Dont beat yourself up. Things happen. Anyhow, these veterans were coming in for RNY which will guarantee unreturned weight loss. Im only 6 weeks post op and think sometimes I should have just gone with RNY instead of the sleeve because im always worried about stretching out my stomache and losing restriction.

    Any MAY sleevers???

How many days are you out? 450 calories is dangerously low...I’m 6 weeks out and can eat about 800 - 900 calories And I do spin classes. I need the energy to do high level cardio otherwise I’d pass out

    Any MAY sleevers???

Your stomache is still swollen. It takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks for swelling to go down. Keep walking and doing cardio. I looked exactly the same for the first 4 weeks just now people and my family are noticing a difference. Lol

    Any MAY sleevers???

I went to palm springs last weekend for 4 days with some friends and my husband. I bought my own food from a local Whole foods and made myself mocktails...For mocktails, I used 15 cal minute made, like mango passion and threw some fresh squeezed ginger and little spicy mixer from muddle and wilde (SUMAC CHILI LIME to be exact). The mocktail was amazing. Other mocktail, I made was 15 cal minute made lemonade with Muddle and Wilde Lime Jalapeno with some fresh mint. I also brought with me String cheese to eat on all day and had almonds. Also log all your foods in an app like My Pal Fitness. My friends were all supportive of my new eatting habits and didn't make a fuss or question anything. You will be alright. You can do this!

    Stitches or Dermabond

I know this story too well. I had huge inflammations all around each incision and the itching was out of this world. I applied a lot of tea tree oil half of the day followed by aloe Vera gel and the other half of day I did hydrocortisone. For me the itching just started to reside and I’m 4 weeks out!!! I’m sympathizing with you and I’m not going to lie, the itching is crappy as hell.
  14. Im eye to eye with you. I was a slow shedder also. I lost 8 lbs on my 2 week follow up visit after surgery. I total of 13 lbs starting a week before surgery...Then, I gained back weight when I started pureed foods, had stall for a few week. Literally some friends thought believed I hadn't had yet it. Today marks the 4th week and I lost a few lbs. Also your stomache is still swollen inside. One it heal completely your notice you belly to go down too. Is there a trader joes around you? They've got a ton of real tasty food and soups that are low in carbs and salt.

    Stitches or Dermabond

That sounds awful. So sorry for your experience. Now you know to speak up though. Geesh! Yeah who would've known right? No one knows you have an allergy until it happens...
  17. We're in the same boat. I feel like I look exactly the same as I did the day of surgery. People look at me and wonder If Ive even had it. So far i've lost only 13 lbs and its not moving at all and its almost 4 weeks post op now. Also, I found out our stomaches are still swollen inside and actually take 4-6 weeks to completely heal, so If im still stalling by the 6th week then Ill chat with my surgeon.

    Stitches or Dermabond

I woke up to dermabond instead of stitches...Moving forward though I will ask for stitches as I found out I am allergic to dermabond. My incisions itched so bad for 3 weeks following surgery and I had a huge rash/welts around them. It was not nice...

I have Aetna. You wont get denied. The first 1st weigh and last weigh in are the only ones that count. You are good to go! FYI I had a major 12 lb increase in weight on my 2nd weigh in and ended up losing it all plus more so by my last weigh in I came in under by 4 lbs from my 1st weigh in. I was approved.

    Not sure it's working

Im with you. I was hungry all the time and thought about food where as before surgery I truly believed I would NOT be hungry at all. This was not the case for me. The inner fat girl does not shut up. I remember out of the hospital I wanted to eat sour power belts, vegetarian nachos, and mexican food. Those were all things I loved so much. Before surgery I made super low carb versions of mexican food which was amazing but it was the taste I missed the most and the thought of not having a savory dish for a while was torcher. Im 2 weeks out and the food craving are less but Im still hungry with the difference that I could only put a tiny amount of food in me. Believe it or not once you start feeling your body say no to certain solid foods you just wont want it anymore because its not worth the pain of feeling like a stuffed sausage with real bad nausea. Also weight drop off is different with people. Some people had sheepishly shed weight others is like a slow peeling of layers...Hang in there my friend...
  21. Liquid vitamins are so gross, well the ones I had...Depending on your doctors you should be able to have chewable vitamins by the 2nd or 3 rd week. The vitamin chews are yummy.

    Any MAY sleevers???

You can look into Torani sugar free syrups to add to your RTD protein drinks. It will help.

    Aetna questions....any insurance question

I have Aetna and did the 90 day regimen. Your weigh-ins should start at the surgeons. Also each weigh-in day at surgeon or weight loss center will be combined with a nutrition visit so you knock out 2 birds with one stone...

    Denied by Aetna POS II

I have Aetna and just had my surgery 5/11. Aetna is serious about the no net gain. My weightloss coordinator at surgeon's office made that very clear. I had to do the 90 day ( 3 months) and actually gained weight also, but my WLS coordinator told me to do all I could do to have no net gain and come in 1 lb less than my original weigh in. Between my 1st weigh- in and 2nd weigh- in, I was going through a very stressful rough time and unfortunately gained alot of weight. See my stats below. With weigh ins the only two that count is the 1st and the last. Also sleep apnea regardless mild or extreme is still sleep apnea ( I did not have a 40 BMI to get approved for initial consulation. I got approved for initial consultation with bariatric surgeon after I had a sleep study test, which showed I have mild OSA and help of DMHC to overturn Aetna 1st denial) Aetna loves to deny so its important to follow the instructions to the T. I only had two shots lefts to lose weight and went gung ho on a crazy zero carb plan, and did a boat load of cardio to drop weight. I even took water pills 2 days before weigh in to shed any water weight. Do what you have to do to make sure you come in under 1 pound than your initial weigh in The purpose of the regimen is to show you have control and Aetna wants to see this control. FYI You don't have to maintain 40 BMI after the regimen to get approved for surgery because obviously you were a 40 / + BMI when approved for initial consulation with your surgeon. 1st weight in 197 2nd weight in 212 3rd weight in 199 4th weight in 193 If you start over, your weight will be the new weight...Like in a previous reply, I would have a peer to peer and ask your surgeon to explain it is water weight or something.
  25. As of yesterday, officially off the full liquid diet and on to soft foods. I was so damn happy but I still have to drink RTD protein drinks daily. I bought alot of Torani Sugar Free syrups, and it helped with making boring protein drinks somewhat better. Also, I found a protein ice cream called Enlightened Ice Cream. It was my jam. So smooth and sat well in my belly. It helped keep my sanity until follow up. The chips are so tiny and melt in your mouth. Its just a frozen mint protein drink on a stick but helps fool the mind!!!
