When you are allowed to eat solid foods, do a search for "chicken crust pizza". The crust is made with raw chicken breast (ground to a pureed consistency) and cheese. May sound strange, but it is actually quite delicious. My husband and I made the pizza recipe and even he thought it tasted great, in fact, he ate most of it. It was nice to enjoy a small slice of this pizza for a meal. I think we made that when I was about 3 or 4 months post op. I enjoyed a slice each day for 3 lunches.

Don't remember the nutrition info, but it only had a few carbs and was loaded with Protein.

there is also a company called realgoodpizza and they make the pizza with the chicken crust. I hear good things about them and plan to order soon.

  2. Maybe my work is different where we can change our health/dental/vision coverage every year.. I thought this was normal but I guess not!

It is pretty normal-every year we can change between the plans my company offers. Just keep in mind that if you have co ins and deductibles the ball rolls overs at the start of the new year and everything goes back to zero. So for example in my case i wanted surgery done this year-i had already maxed out my deductibles and co ins back in march due to an accident so every appt i had after was covered 100 percent. And i wanted to take advantage of that-i didnt pay a dime for anything related to getting my surgery. I do plan to change next year though.

  3. I am not in the same boat as you are as far as insurance not covering my surgery however-i do have children and know what its like to not be able to afford to do certain things. However, this is one thing that you are not only doing for yourself-its for your children as well. They will need and want you around for a very long time to come. Think of this as an investment into their future. Imagine how they would feel if you weren't around because of an issue derived from your weight that could have been prevented.

  4. I have aetna pos ii and you can not gain a pound by the time you end the 3 month period. If you start at 261 you have to end at 261 or lower or they will not approve the request for surgery. Im in nj so not sure if its any diff there but there was no if ands or buts up here. Id say wait until your approved before you have any food funerals if you want to have them.

  5. I wish I could take actual time off. I will if I have to, but it will all be unpaid because I was a poor planner.... but also I didn't expect to be approved so fast. Glad you have 4 weeks!

    - No idea what I'm doing but I'm here!

I took temporary disability-my job pays 100% for the first 4 weeks of course you have to use your vacay/sick time up which for me was a week and then they kicked in. Also same ins does our fmla so both were approved at the same time. Otherwise id just have had the week off and i knew that wouldnt work. Does your job offer tdi? Look into it maybe.
