    DECEMBER Bypass Wednesday Weigh In!

HW: 236 SW: 214 (12/05/2017) GW: 140, CW: 172 I’m also 5’6”. My go to has always been chicken. Scrambled eggs, and salad are staying down. I experiment with different ingredients when I make smoothies. One and a half scoops of unflavored protein isolate powder. Cottage cheese is ok. I don’t really like yogurt. Protein bars. Salmon. Meals are always a guessing game.

    Rapid changes in bra sizes!

Mine are much smaller, still droopy though. Finally after all these years of backache, I’m happy with smaller boobs!

    Extreme hair loss

My hair went from very thick, to Very thin. Surgery Dec 5, 2017. I’m taking Hair,Skin,Nails vitamins. It has slowed down, I think more protein is supposed to work. I’m trying, but food is really boring now.

    People making decision difficult

I think you should do what you feel is best for you. I would work out, feel great then stop and the weight came right back. Having this surgery was the best idea for me, I just wish I had done it years ago. Don’t let your trainer bully you. If that’s what he is doing. It’s his job to work out with you, but if it’s not working it’s not.

    Hiatle hernia

I didn’t know I had one until after my surgery. My doctor told me he fixed it. I haven’t had any reflux since. I’m a happy camper.

    Freaking out!

I had the same surgery you are having. Get the pain meds, I needed them and anti nausea. I didn’t walk around too soon, my pain was pretty bad, but gets better. Everything gets better day by day. Any food in the beginning was yuk. It all tasted weird. I don’t drink as much water as I should but I throw it up if I drink too much. I got depressed for awhile wondering why I did this, but when you try on your clothes and they look huge, that made the difference for me. I’m still learning what to eat, and chew chew chew. Hope this helps at least a little. No reflux is the best, I’ve had that for years and it’s gone!
  7. I had my by bypass the day after my 59th birthday, Dec 2017. I wish I had it 10 years ago, but I’m happy now that I did it. My daughter calls me the incredible shrinking woman. I love seeing a one on my weight after having a two for so many years. I’m about 40 pounds down and to reach my goal I have another 45 to 50 to go. Good luck to us all!

    Panic setting in.

I had my surgery Dec. 5th 2017 and am down about 40 pounds. It is really worth it. I too have been up and down with my weight and I finally had enough. I have good days and bad but now most of them are good!

What to Bring to the Hospital

I packed a full bag with pajamas, toothbrush, makeup, And I didn’t use any of it. I wore hospital gowns, used the toothbrush they gave me. So pack light. If you don’t watch tv, bring something to read. I was in pain and very uncomfortable, so I slept most of the time.
  10. I wouldn’t have been able to have my surgery, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, then I was approved.
  11. I’ve had tuna/egg salad. Salmon, chicken (gotta chew it until it’s mush). Scrambled eggs are great, I just had some tortellini. I forgot at the beginning that I could only eat 2oz. Made that mistake of eating too much. I’m running out of ideas of what I like to eat. I’ve been making fruit smoothies, they fill me up. Have a little mashed potatoes, why not.
  12. I felt the same way, second guessing my decision. I had a prescription pain med to help me. Take it one day at a time. It’s been a bit over a month and I’m just getting used to eating tiny meals. I would actually love a chicken Caesar salad! Not yet.

    Rny tomorrow morning

Good luck! Take it slow at first, get some rest to recover, it will all be worth it in the long run. Took me a few weeks to start feeling somewhat normal again.

    Today’s the day

Good luck, and after take it slow. I did too much too soon. Relax and recover!
  15. I’m debating whether to purchase a scale or not. I haven’t had one for years. I always judged my size by how my clothes fit. I am two weeks out of surgery, had mine Dec 5, the day after my birthday. I am feeling great, tire quickly. Does everyone own a scale and should I get one?

    Gastric Bypass Surgery Monday! Nervous

Make sure you have someone you trust with you. I had my daughter. My blood pressure was high the three days I was in hospital. It’s back to normal now. Don’t bring too much stuff with you, I didn’t use any of it. It’s a huge decision, you’re going to do great! Don’t expect to feel good for at least two weeks, then it’s day by day. It’s a life changer, that’s for sure.
