  1. Congrats!
Allie_Shannon got a reaction from Queenhkb in Anyone sleeve to bypass?
I had sleeve in 2017. Just converted to RNY on 9/29 due to gerd. I was at my goal weight still from sleeve but have room to lose 30 lbs. my surgeon said I prob would but it would be a lot slower then first round and will take a little more work. Not just my diet (i was already pretty much sticking to Protein diet except occasionally).
  2. Congrats!

I revised primarily for severe GERD, though there was also a lack of weight loss due to maladaptive eating to avoid GERD symptoms. I woke up from sleeve with severe GERD that never really went away. I woke up from bypass with zero GERD and have not had any symptoms since surgery on 9/18.

Did you ever find the cause of your headaches? I am out 12 weeks and have had a headache every day since surgery.
  4. Congrats!

I had my RNY revision for severe GERD (was causing intractable hiccups) on 8/11 and eat a pretty normal diet now. My portion sizes are definitely small but my sleeve was made into a pouch so I expected that.
Very early on I did dump on some weird things though- whey Protein blends that aren’t 100% isolate or collagen (not sure of plant-based ones), a couple broth based Soups can’t remember which ones, and jimmy dean egg white scramble cups which has made me leery of trying real eggs.

All the pain I had post-op is pretty much resolved aside from some random shoulder pain if I skip meals. (Surgeon was super confused! 🤷‍♀️)
As to the alcohol, I don’t drink so no clue what that’s like or when would be ok.

I think those stories are more than the exception than the rule. I have a virgin RNY, not a revision, but I've been hanging out on this and other bariatric sites for several years. Most people's revisions, from what I can tell, have been very successful.
not everyone with RNY surgery dumps - I never have. The usual stat that is thrown around is that about 30% of us do, although Tek checked some peer-reviewed articles recently and estimates in those were anywhere from 20-50%. So...still not everyone. Even if you're one of the ones who dumps, you can control it through limiting sugar (even most of those who dump can tolerate SOME sugar - just not a lot of it).
I can drink wine and champagne, but it hits me really quickly. I've never been much of a drinker, even before surgery. I used to have many five or six glasses of wine a year. Now I probably have two or three. No problems with it other than, like I said, it hits me a lot quicker than it did pre-surgery.
  6. Congrats!

I had my revision for GERD on 6/29 with a BMI of 22. I did not have much pain and resumed walking (starting at a half-mile) as soon as I got home. I walk about 3 miles a day at a quick pace and I'll go back to the gym when it's safe. I never had any problems drinking or eating while in the hospital and my surgeon said that I could have whatever I could swallow, so I did a couple of days of shakes and then moved to purees for a week, then regular food. I lost ten pounds during the liquid/puree days. I became lactose-intolerant, which was a surprise, but I can eat fat and sugar without dumping. I can eat scrambled eggs again, too, my sleeve hated them. I have not had any alcohol, I'm not much of a drinker. I think you'll be fine by Thanksgiving.

Sleeves August 15th. Down 21 lbs today. Did Clear Liquids first week. At one week post op my MD moved me to soft foods slowly and gradually. I've done one egg which was hard. Might try tuna for supper. Grits did well and mashed potatoes I usually only do one a day and still have broth for other meals. Was full of energy Wednesday (8 days post op) but yesterday and today I've been very tired. Hoping to go back to work Monday with restrictions! So glad I've done this!

I walked 5-6 times a day up and down my driveway as soon as I came home. I had horrible gas pain and it really helped.

I order some kind of meat and either a salad or green vegetable. I eat what I can eat and box the rest up. I've been open about my journey, including the surgery, with anyone and everyone, so if they don't know about it before the meal, they'll know before the end of it.

I am 1 week post op and still having trouble sleeping as well. I have a wedge pillow I use to prop me up b/c I can't lay flat. I also have another pillow under my back. I have been able to get a few hours in on my side but I use 7-8 pillows!! I know I know. I use the wedge, one on wedge, one under head, one supporting belly (kinda under it) one behind me supporting back and one between my knees...

    I cant wait for sleep!!

I had to follow the 15min rule since I was having trouble getting fluids in and now I've reduced it to an ounce every 10mins. I tolerate warm soup/broth better than plain Water like a lot of others had said. I think I'm just waiting on swelling to go down. Also, in the mornings I have "morning sickness" where I get really nauseas and have spasms. I'm going to sip on a shake first thing tomorrow morning because I'm thinking it might be from hunger because water doesn't do the trick.

Also, had a REAL BM today that had me thanking Jesus (Sounded like Madea for a moment). [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Congratulations! I too had surgery Aug 15th.
Havent had pain to speak of just very sore but I have had a lot of nausea. My insurance wouldn't pay for Zofran so I had to buy it out of pocket. Something is wrong when insurance will pay for narcotic pain killers but not antinausea meds.
