Did you try colace? I read on one of the boards this was approved. My doctor told me to drink more water and walk more. Also to make sure I was getting 3-6 grams of fiber - I'm not a doctor so take my words with caution.
Before you go to a clear liquid diet, ask your doctor if / how long you should be on one. Five weeks seems excessively long. This is not a decision to make on your own. It could have serious impacts to your health.
My sleeve surgery is scheduled for 8/7 and I'm on day 4 of a two week long clear liquid diet. To prepare, I had an hour long consultation with my surgeon's dietician as well as received a PDF manual on what I was limited to drink as well as what I needed to intake daily (e.g., 50g protein).
My point being, I've had very specific, detailed instruction on the liquid diet in advance. I would strongly suggest that you have a conversation with your doctor asap on what his/her expectations are for your individual case. This is not something you want to "wing" on your own.
Holler back, Socks, and let me know what he/she says! I'm thinking about you.
