Tome off work - how much??

I was sleeved on a Tuesday and went back to work that Friday. I have an office job and, other than the flight of steps to get to my office, get to spend most of the time sitting.

    Longest stall

One of the Facebook groups I belong to is running a 100oz-of-water-a-day challenge to break any stalls. I've been pretty slow at losing this past two weeks so I'm going to give it a try. I've also realized that I may not be eating enough. Have you been monitoring your protein/carb/fat/fluid intake? I hadn't been and I think that may have been one of the reasons for my stall. Not being hungry (EVER!) I tend to forget about eating.

    Feeling better.

I've definitely had my 'freak-out' moments, too. I really feel like I've had a decades-long love affair with food and there was definite mourning period once I left the hospital. My Friday night favorites (pizza, hoagies, chips and dip) are not on my menu right now and it's really hard some days. I'm 4 weeks out today and down 30 pounds, so it's definitely all worth it. Good luck to you and don't be too hard on yourself for being anxious - it's normal!

    Non-scale victory (sort of! [emoji39])

Good for you! It sounds like you have the right mindset to be very successful [emoji3]

    Pain management post surgery

I had pain meds on my first day in the hospital (sleeved at 8:30am). The second day I had one dose of Tylenol, then nothing afterwards. I was discharged the day after surgery.

8 days post-op, not sure if normal

Honestly, it took me a quite a while to be able to actually drink something. For the longest time I would take enough fluid at a time to wet my lips and the inside of my mouth. Anything else didn't feel right. Just keep sipping!

    Post-op anxiety

Anxiety is my middle name so I DEFINITELY know where you're coming from. Some days I'm a little more stressed about the whole situation, and other days I'm care-free. Two days ago my sleeve felt a little tighter than normal and I was convinced I had a leakage. I'm not sure why that popped into my head - I don't even think that's a sign of a leakage! LOL But like someone said earlier in the thread - take one day at a time, keep sipping, and know that your body is built to heal itself. Best of luck to you!!!
  9. I had my surgery on 2/13, so I'm 10 days out today. I went back to work (desk job) for half a day on 2/16 with no problems, full time this past Monday. I'm tired by the end of the day, but not exhausted. I make sure I'm in bed by 9 just to give my body time to rest. I may not go to sleep right away, but I'm settled in with a book or my ipad and just resting. I've had to set alarms to remind me to drink water/protein, but just because I get pretty busy during the day and I'm not hungry at all. I was lucky to have no nausea whatsoever. I had acupuncture pins placed in my ears the day before surgery to avoid the nausea and it worked like a charm. Everyone is different, so listen to your doc and your body and don't try to overdo work or activities. Best of luck to you!!!!

    Does your stomach feel normal?

Mine feels like there's gremlin in there, making the choice of whether or not I'm full.

    No family support

I would never say that you don’t need a good support system. But you are strong enough to start this journey with your own goals and dreams backing you up. My family and the few friends I told were a bit negative at first, but no they were worried. I just had my surgery on 2/13 and I’m doing great and my family has been great! After a while, when they saw how dedicated I was to the program, everything was much better.
  12. I used a heating pad for the gas pains and it seemed to help. Just keep sipping! I swear for the first few days I only dipped enough at a time to just wet the inside of my mouth. My surgery was the same day as yours and I’m just now able to take in a few ounces an hour. The pillow fort suggestion is such a good one!! I had so many pillows around me the first few days and it definitely helped.
