8 weeks post op. Haven't cheated a day. Too scared to mess things up again. I failed on so many diets before through my own fault. I am very good at self sabotaging. This time I am sticking to the book.

This is from a Facebook page for the O Clinic (bariatric clinic). I really needed this today:
    ** Support versus Comparison **
There are some amazing support networks online for Bariatric patients. But, when does 'support' evolve into 'comparisonitis'? Comparisonitis is unhelpful and reduces a person's confidence in their own weight loss attempts. It leads to comparisons being made of other people's weight loss numbers and the speed of their weight loss. It can become extremely un-motivating. So, of course, draw upon the fantastic support from all of the forums, but be mindful that everyone will have a different weight loss journey and aim to focus on and enjoy your own. Don't let 'comparisonitis' creep up on you Rachael Haynes (Psychologist).

I am a clinician and am bound by very strict confidentiality laws. That person should be too. It is a gross violation of professionalism if they divulge your medical information. Your body, your choice. Personally, I chose not to publicize my WLS. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago and I chose not to share either. Over the years, I have had a urinary tract infection, a yeast infection and got a tooth extracted. Again I chose not to share. I just believe my medical information is private. It is your choice and don't feel pressured by anybody to divulge.

This a post I made to remind myself when I face my own struggles especially during a stall. Nowhere in my post did I say this is happening here. This is me reminding myself what this surgery is about. If it applies to someone else they might draw inspiration from it. I have seen others posting that they feel they are not doing well and losing at the same as others. These are the people this may possibly apply to.

I follow my program to the letter. I just don't want to go back to the things that contributed to my obesity. I made a personal choice to follow the program because my own "program" obviously failed me before.

Lorin, that sounds scary to say the least. I haven't experienced it but just wanted to ask if your doctor has checked your bloods lately especially hemoglobin levels? Low levels could potentially cause that. Hope they get to the bottom of it soon to prevent serious adverse effects.

Don't buy too many shakes. Your taste might might change. I couldn't stand the strawberry flavored shakes after surgery but was fine with them before. Had to give away a whole box of Optifast strawberry shakes.

PrayingForWeightLoss got a reaction from beli68 in How did you guys do on your pre op diet?
Preop was the hardest part of this journey for me. Sleeved on July the 28th 2017. Honestly I had philosophize the whole process to stay sane. I had to remind myself that there are plenty of people in the world who, through no fault or choice of their own, go for days without food or with very little to eat. Here I was with access to shakes, veges, and clean Water and I was complaining. That kept me focused. I just reminded myself the preop will not kill me.

I am about 8 weeks post op. I have struggled with my weight for many years. I started thinking about WLS a few years ago and I talked myself out if it because I thought I could lose through dieting. For the past 5 years, I have spent so much money on different programs, fad diets and endless meetings. All this time, my weight kept going up. The final aha moment for me was when I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. It was then that I realized I need effective treatment for obesity. Like most people, my biggest regret was not getting sleeved sooner. But then again, I think I needed to hit rock bottom to appear irate this tool. I have lost about 30lbs so far by just following the program to the T. I did not even look at the band when I was seeking treatment. Just didn't want the idea of a foreign object in my body that is movable.
