  1. Like weight loss before and after photos but of your new diet ! I'm especially interested in before and after meal photos (take a pic at the point you feel restriction) but it can be of recipe substitutions, your refrigerator/pantry/shopping cart/etc VSG2017 HW 249 SW 238 CW 167
  2. I used to be top heavy but now I’m bottom heavy! This is in part due to plastics but some is definitely just the way my body decided to redistribute fat because it started before plastics.

    “Just Exercise More”

I’m glad I’m not the only one that feels like this shifts the blame back to the patient’s lack of commitment to exercise!

    “Just Exercise More”

In the past battles against obesity, patients often heard the advice to simply increase exercise. Now researchers are actually quantifying the amount of exercise needed to prevent (and possibly reverse) the disease according to genetic risk factors. Thoughts? Comments? https://news.vumc.org/2024/03/27/higher-genetic-obesity-risk-exercise-harder/ https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamanetworkopen/fullarticle/2816822
  5. I should have said immediately after losing a lot of excess weight vs when your weight settles. I think immediately post WLS my skin was thinner (in certain areas) but over time it feels thicker again.
  6. Something I didn’t expect were the changes to body composition post op (not the planned body modifications of plastic surgery) I was surprised to see that my body didn’t look the same each year post op. How and where I carried weight fluctuated each year.

    Food Before and After Photos

My kid made a large batch of Turkey burgers and I’m the only one eating them 🧐 At least they’re good! I ate about 70% of this but logged the whole meal

How can I possibly live like this?

Have you spoken with your surgeon about this yet? What did they say?

I also had no clue it was called yum cha!

At least it remains special this way!
  11. Scratch made or premade sauce?

    Food Before and After Photos

Today I went on a date to a tea shop and found an amazing quengzhou milk oolong. Very very happy. I decided to make lunch at home instead of dining out (I really wanted to make this tea 😂) Penne Arrabbiata (not mine) and vegetable gyoza w/dipping sauce (mine)
  13. So many great tips out on the internet, the one I found most helpful is not to prematurely rush recovery with the goal of getting back to normal as soon as possible. The other is to be very specific with your surgeon about your expectations and make sure they align. Especially if you get to chat again during preop. For instance instead of saying I just want my loose skin gone, it’s helpful to say I want to be as flat/tight/contoured as possible.

Southern Indian Chole Batura (my favorite), What’s everyone’s favorite regional food?

Roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and peas. I’ve switched from buying premade rotisserie chicken to scratch made and everyone agrees it’s much better.
  19. The only encouragement I can offer is that the GLP-1 meds work well. Check your insurance coverage. If it doesn’t cover Mounjaro, request Zepbound (same med-different market, diabetes vs obesity) and down load the coupon. Alternatively don’t forget to check out the new GLP-1 section here on this site.
  20. Disclaimer: I don’t have slippery slope foods, so this may not work for you. I am a person who can have anything in moderation. Not everyone can do this and I fully acknowledge and never suggest this especially for people in the beginning. It just doesn’t work for everyone. Yes I eat cookies. But my cookie path is very narrow. I don’t like soft, iced, stuffed, loaded or kitchen sink cookies. I like biscuits, wafers and thins, etc. As for bread, I knew very early that I would not give it up completely. I do eat regular types (baguettes, ciabattas, bagels, croissants, etc) but often low or zero carb breads for balance. Also to be noted, I maintain a higher weight. It’s the trade off.
