Food Before and After Photos
GreenTealael replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ok so I lied. I did make the breakfast sandwich again (this time with egg instead of cheese). It was either this or eat a block of goat cheese with pretzels or 8 mini snickers. I’m avoiding grocery shopping. Anyone else eating really random stuff out of laziness? -

Croissant w/ turkey bacon and cheese I’m always surprised (and annoyed) at how many calories are in the foods I make at home. I won’t be repeating this meal for a while. 🫠 😂 -

Date night! I chose Katz’s Deli to give my BF a sampling of a NYC landmark. Tuna salad half sandwich, potato knish, split pea soup and pickles (I had the soup) I think he liked it. 😂 -
Having trouble with pre-surgery weight loss (TW negative feelings)
GreenTealael replied to Theia103121's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You’re right, it is a long term diet (or lifestyle) that doesn’t have an end date and for most of us it will be restrictive. Some people have no issue with this, some need to work a little harder to come to terms with it and some never comply. My only suggestion would be to work on accepting your new diet/lifestyle well ahead of surgery or you might just rebel against the rules your team set up (for your benefit) because you’re being forced to do them rather than choosing on your own. I don’t think anyone really likes being forced to do anything so I completely understand where you’re coming from. Good Luck! ❤️ -
Dumping Syndrome
GreenTealael replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I would immediately re-establish care with your Bariatric doctor and voice your concerns with vigor. Tell them you need more than just a nutritionist visit, you would like testing to check on your anatomy. To help with the dumping immediately try to really watch the sugar (and fat) content per serving in the foods/drinks you consume. Keep it as low as possible like your post op directions (I think it was 5 grams or less in my instructions) Good Luck! -
New research on Dumping Syndrome! Researchers found that adding fat to a carbohydrate meal reduced blood glucose rises and intensity of symptoms. https://www.cureus.com/articles/203417-the-effect-of-fat-supplementation-on-the-appearance-of-symptoms-associated-with-dumping-syndrome-in-patients-having-undergone-gastric-surgery-preliminary-results?score_article=true#!/

I’m still playing the “match the venue” game. This has happened too many times to be just a coincidence.

Dumping Syndrome
GreenTealael replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Never? Lucky! I dumped when I had just VSG, it’s not as bad for me now with RNY because I’ve been avoiding problematic foods for so long. But every once in a while I still have a problem. -

Thank you! I like that it is family focused. I have not cooked anything beyond a girl dinner in a while. I think Early quarantine cooking really burned me out. -

Absolutely! The point is now there are more choices for the wider population. Many of the patients that qualified for WLS will never pursue it. They are no longer left without an effective option. -

Original VSG WLS 11/7/2017 (revised to RNY 2019) Height 5’3”-5’4” starting BMI 43-44 current BMI 25-26 Measurements July 2017 (before WLS) Hips 51 Thighs 31 Lower abdomen 53 Mid abdomen 49 Under bust 43 Full bust 50 Over bust 46 Arm 16 Measurements Jan 2021 (before plastics) Hips 43 Thighs 25 Lower abdomen 38 Mid abdomen 34 Under bust 31 Full bust 38 Over bust 36 Arm 11 At this point I barely remember what life was like preop unless I look at photos. However, I vividly remember immediately post op. The constant monitoring of every aspect of life to make sure I got it all right. Not going to lie, I don’t miss that- it could be exhausting at times (but ultimately worth it!). I have relaxed into a routine that works really well for me and nothing feels restrictive. I’m very happy I chose this path.❤️

Additionally with the anticipated revenue in mind, this can catapult further research and innovation. Hopefully insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, obesity and their related comorbidities can be cured in our lifetime.
