    any November 2017 sleevers?

Well hydrated.. 2 key words.. My pipes should be totally cleaned out by Wednesday. I maybe living in the bathroom the next 3 days hahahaha!

    It's already started.

I've been married to my husband for 30 years. I'm not really worried about him having a problem with me being more independent. I did tell him I worry that if I want to go out and do stuff he wouldn't want to because we both enjoy our computer time. He says he's willing to go do anything I want to as long as we do it together. That says and means a lot to me. I'm glad he's in my life.

I start my liquid diet today too. I set up my crystal light Popsicles last night. Surgery on Wednesday. It's getting real.

Welcome! I have 4 days left. I can't wait to get this journey started. Good luck on yours and may you have a speedy recovery.

    Nervous

I'm 51 and I'm right there with you. My sons are grown, but I want to do things that I haven't been able to do since before the boys were younger. Good luck to you on this wonderful journey!

    Feeling anxious

This surgery will be #8 for me. I've been around the OR a few times. Some I asked for some I didn't get a choice in (thanks youngest son). I tell people I'm a practically a pro at this. I say that because I don't want them to know that I get anxious before any big thing or change in my life. I know it's going to be okay, but it doesn't stop the feelings of "Oh boy here we go" like the beginning of a roller coaster. I keep telling myself in a few days I'll be over the hump and off to new journey. That's what will get me through this.

    Feeling anxious

We are more alike than just our surgery dates. I too have a hernia and I'm hypothyroid. I don't really get heartburn that often, I think because I prefer a bland diet that doesn't kick up a storm for heartburn. I'm weird that way. I have moments where I'm overwhelmed but I tell myself to breathe and sit with the moment until it passes. It usually doesn't take long, unless I start to have a panic attack and then my husband rubs my back while reading something from reddit to me. It calms me down. We're almost there.. We can do this!!!

    Hello!

Hi Donia, I'm from Oklahoma too. This is an amazing journey we're going on. It might seem overwhelming at first, but it will get easier. Best of Luck!
  9. 5 more days. Anyone have any ideas on how to relax before the big day?

Relaxing isn't a big deal. You'll want to relax plenty after the surgery ;) Use this time to make sure everything is in order, so when you no longer can bend over and touch the floor or pick up more than 10 pounds, that everything is set up, and ready for that. Most doctors have the weight lifting restriction in place for 6 to 8 weeks. So make sure you have already purchased any large items that you need for the next couple months (pet supplies, or bulk shopping trips. Canned food gets very heavy, very quickly).

Make sure all the laundry and house cleaning and yard work is done. Bills are paid. Pet sitting, childcare, houseplant watering.. maybe even work on your Will or advanced directive (living will and/or medical power of attorney). Those won't be needed, but they could be SOME day, so it doesn't hurt to have them made up, regardless.

      You're like, I wanna relax, and here I am, saying better write your Will! Gotto love it! Almost no one dies from this surgery, so it's not really about this operation.. it's just one of those things that everyone should have in place, and almost no one does. Even a verbal Will can work, if you're not particular. "Hey, Honey.. if I don't make it, you get the kids". {Honey will be, oh, so grateful!}

On a less morbid topic, maybe go through your closet, and arrange clothing according to size. (If you have sizes smaller than you currently wear). You'll start needing them within a couple months.

Not much longer. Are you ready?
  12. I don't know if anyone else feels this way. Other than my husband and mother in law I'm not having anyone else around when I have this surgery done. On the one hand I would love to have a surgery buddy, but on the other hand, I think I would be happy with just my hubby and his mother. Anyone else feel this way?

Yeah ... 22 days back, my wife dropped me off at the hospital on the Thursday (OCT 12) 7AM.

She picked me up after a Saturday shift in the pharmacy at 3:30pm.

One sister, my brother and my mother called in as visitors on the Friday evening.

I shared my WLS news with my daughter and daughter-in-law, my siblings, my mother, my best man and a supportive male neighbour (a former professional friend).

Other wise, it's near to a closed secret.

Mine really isn't a secret except to my mother. She's one of those people who will make it all about her, and how she's medically worse off than anyone else. I don't need that negativity. I'm going to tell her after I get home from the hospital. She's more supportive then.

Seems she's in the same grandstand as my mother.

    November sleevers

I'm doing pretty good. I had my pre admissions testing this morning. They took some blood and swabbed my nose. I asked them to get the itch that has been bugging me since allergy season started. They did what they could hahaha. Now all I have to do is show up on the 8th. Until then I guess I'll be playing on the emotional roller coaster hahaha.

    any November 2017 sleevers?

It's normal. I too am Nov 8th. I've had the whole roller-coaster of feelings. I'm on low carb diet until Sunday and then I'm on full liquids until surgery. Good luck with yours. I'm sure we'll both do fine.

    any November 2017 sleevers?

I have a few things packed already. Extra pillow, slippers, and robe. Outside some of the usual stuff, I'm bringing a small laptop and tablet. I find googling things keeps me distracted from the pain.

    November sleevers

When I went to my pre op class I asked about the coffee. They said I had to give up the creamer. So I put my protein drink in it instead. They told me that was fine. After surgery though I'm only allowed 12 oz of coffee, which to my calculations comes up to 2 cups a day with my new tool, as long as I continue to put the protein drink in it until I have to ween off of it. After that I'll figure out what I need to do next. As for the pre op diet, they have me on a weight loss diet of a protein drink in the morning 4 to 6 oz of lean meat with non starchy vegetables for lunch and dinner with a snack in between meals of either cottage cheese, yogurt, protein drink, cheese sticks, or a protein bar. I don't start full liquids until Sunday. I've doing well with the first part so far, Next week should be the real test. How is it going for you @confusedturtle3?

Pre Happy birthday in advance. What a wonderful gift you're giving to yourself. Also congrats on the weight loss. We are surgery buddies. I too am Nov. 8th. I can't wait. It won't be much longer now .
  22. LylaLovesCoffee

What did you take to the hospital?

I have a week to go. I've barely started packing. I did put my slippers and extra pillow in because I have a furbaby who thinks my slippers are chew toys, best to keep it out of his sight. Mostly all I've been doing is making metal lists. I really should type them up on evernote so I won't forget anything. I know I'll be bringing some extra pajamas and underwear because my genetic history has a weak bladder. Of course chargers and cords, extension cord, my sleep earphones because I love classical music and soft jazz to sleep to. I'll keep working on my list. Thanks for the extra ideas.
