Mhy12784 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Single Incision Gastric Sleeve- August 13th Surgery Date!
Dr Garber is right across the street from me. How did you decide on him?
And I'm not exactly sure what product he uses to do it, but single site often isn't done through only the button.

Yes they use only one trocar, but the rest of the surgery is usually done through percutaneous instruments which they just stick through the skin (and then assemble through the other trocar and then unassemble the same way)
The instruments are incredibly small and I imagine they leave little to no scar, but they still go through the skin. It's because of their modular nature that they can be so small and not need a trocar

I'm getting close to the 100 pound mark, but I have a feeling that if I hit it ill end up in the hospital.
I might have to wrap it up at 90

I wouldnt say I get grossed out by food

But I definitely developed an aversion to food.

Theres many days where of my 5 meals 3-4 of them are Protein powders/shakes and Fiber supplements because I dont feel like eating food.
Im hitting all my numbers, blasting through my goals, and have a clean bill of health. And im very happy with what I consume. So I sure dont mind it

The best way to get through the week 3 stall, is to get to week 4.
The numbers can be sporadic . Its going to take you 9 to 15 months to get near your end goal. If you start driving yourself crazy at week 3 its gonna be a bumpy road.

Youll have weeks where you lose 0-1 pound and then lose 5 the next. Its just the way it works, as long as youre trending in the right direction and not doing stupid things to sabotage yourself, youll get to where youre going

Find recipes you enjoy eating. If the liquid diet is forcing yourself to chug down stuff you dont like, youre setting yourself up for failure.
You dont like one shake, try another. Then try mixing it with pudding, making icecream, fluff, mugcakes, artificial sweeteners, syrups, with coffee.

Theres literally thousands of ways to get creative. If youre not enjoying the things youre eating, its not gonna be pretty

Mhy12784 got a reaction from jess9395 in GENEPRO? What's up?
It's not as complicated as it seems.
It's DEFINITELY dishonest and a bit of a scam, but likely a decent protein supplement otherwise.
If you look at the calories on the label and divide it by 4 that's roughly how many Grams of Protein is in a serving, it may be slightly less.
Their claims are 100% pure horseshit and for that reason alone people shouldn't buy their product. But if someone absolutely is in love with it and doesn't want to buy alternative products I would follow my rule above dividing calories by 4 and assume that's roughly how much protein is in a serving based on normal measurements that people use and know that you're getting ripped off by a shady company but the product is otherwise probably an OK protein product.

Mhy12784 got a reaction from Frustr8 in Will they postpone surgery?
They're not canceling your surgery for low Vitamin D. But it is one of the easiest labs to improve.
I was a bit of a dumbass and decided to boost up my Vitamin d before surgery to optimize my health, and ended up having my Vitamin D levels sky rocket through the roof, just into the toxic range (honestly even vitamin d toxicity doesn't really do much until you're way way way up there).
But of course I was taking incredibly high doses for around 3 months.
Obviously talk to a doctor before doing this but you can easily take 30,000 to 50,000 iu of vitamin d a day for a few weeks to boost your levels. You just wouldn't want to do this the week or two before surgery because it effects bleeding (and vitamin d is fat soluble so you can take incredibly high doses and your body won't just pee it out like most other vitamins)

That's a reasonable way of looking at it. Although it's likely less than 17g of protein (it list 58 calories, so you're probably talking about 14g of protein a serving maybe 13)
Which makes GENEPRO incredibly overpriced as well as being disingeous. I still think youre better off finding a protein maker who is more honest and upfront , but if you're adamant on it I think it's OK as long as you're looking at it the way you are.

    What I started doing recently
Is mixing a full vanilla Premier Protein with a half scoop of the Syntrax Nectar/Lattes and maybe a tablespoon of splenda or two. If I want a little more coffee ill add some cold brew concentrate to it
This bumps it up to roughly 200-210 calories and 45 g of Protein. Plus it gives it a better flavor (I think) and is substantially more filling.
I also find mixing protein powder with premier shakes is much better than mixing it with Water (which tastes gross) or milk (which tastes great but has mediocre macros)
Of course im also trying to substantially increase my protein intake to consistently get it over 1g per pound of body weight.

Mhy12784 got a reaction from Orchids&Dragons in Pain Management with My On-Q Pump
ON-Q pumps are an old dying thing. They're often filled with Naropin. They work fine, but now there is Exparel. Which basically works the same as an ON-Q pump, but instead of a giant ball hanging out of your abdomen by ON-Q catheters that you have to carry around. They just inject the exparel into you and it works for 48 to 72 hours just like the ON-Q without all the crap sticking out of and attached to you.
We used to use on-qs for every bariatric case and many other cases, now they're almost completely extinct from our hospital. And ON-QS have quite a reputation for falling out and getting removed prematurely. They sometimes would even fall out before patients got out of the operating room

If you dont want to drink Protein
I recommend looking at protein pudding, protein fluff, protein icecream, protein mugcakes, or just easy to eat foods (scrambeled eggs eggwhites etc).
I think cutesey weird products (ie gummies) arent that sustainable long term. Plus the above recipes are usually quite tastey cost effective and great protein sources

I airfry fish and chicken all the time.
Lean chicken, egg wash, and coconut flour (or almond) is fantastic with a tiny tiny spray of oil

If you're making chicken I STRONGLY suggest you brine it. It tastes awesome and makes it juicy.
I would avoid all the high fat alternatives. While fat isn't bad for you, it's high in calories. And if you're a person with a history of being very fat (cough cough all of us) I would try to keep the Protein high and calories low

It's extremely probable that you're lactose intolerant.
The Protein Powder, Premier Protein, yogurt are all completely filled with lactose. And the tummy issues are a classic symptom.
Not sure why the nutritionist didn't figure this out.
Either buy lactaid pills and take them with your current shakes (I recommend taking at least 3 to start and work your way down if capable)
Or buy lactose free Protein Shakes.
Easy fix for a common issue
