  1. I will speak to my surgeons about this soon, but how do you take pills that need to be taken with food? Do you take them immediately before eating? Immediately after? Halfway through a meal? Because you're not supposed to drink after a meal, and not supposed to take the pills on an empty stomach (right before) So I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this. I doubt it makes much of a difference, but if I'm taking pills multiple times a day everyday, I'd rather do things as best as I can
  2. I didnt have issues with eggs, but I was also extremely conservative. I made soft runny scrambled eggs, with a decent amount of ketchup. And I would eat EXTREMELY small bites, approximately 2 minutes between bites. Taking me close to 40 minutes to eat around half an egg. I did this probably 3-4 times then realized it was too damn tedious eating eggs, so I stopped for a while. At around 6-8 weeks postop I was eating 3 fried eggs no problem.

    GENEPRO? What's up?

That's a reasonable way of looking at it. Although it's likely less than 17g of protein (it list 58 calories, so you're probably talking about 14g of protein a serving maybe 13) Which makes genepro incredibly overpriced as well as being disingeous. I still think youre better off finding a protein maker who is more honest and upfront , but if you're adamant on it I think it's OK as long as you're looking at it the way you are.

    Protein Vitamins instead of shakes?

Protein pills aren't really a thing I suggest looking into protein powder recipes (or eating more lean mean) My personal favorites is protein pudding, protein mug cakes, or protein coffee. If you like coffee or lattes it's very easy to make a protein concoction like that

    GENEPRO? What's up?

It's not as complicated as it seems. It's DEFINITELY dishonest and a bit of a scam, but likely a decent protein supplement otherwise. If you look at the calories on the label and divide it by 4 that's roughly how many Grams of Protein is in a serving, it may be slightly less. Their claims are 100% pure horseshit and for that reason alone people shouldn't buy their product. But if someone absolutely is in love with it and doesn't want to buy alternative products I would follow my rule above dividing calories by 4 and assume that's roughly how much protein is in a serving based on normal measurements that people use and know that you're getting ripped off by a shady company but the product is otherwise probably an OK protein product.

Pain Management with My On-Q Pump

ON-Q pumps are an old dying thing. They're often filled with Naropin. They work fine, but now there is Exparel. Which basically works the same as an ON-Q pump, but instead of a giant ball hanging out of your abdomen by ON-Q catheters that you have to carry around. They just inject the exparel into you and it works for 48 to 72 hours just like the ON-Q without all the crap sticking out of and attached to you. We used to use on-qs for every bariatric case and many other cases, now they're almost completely extinct from our hospital. And ON-QS have quite a reputation for falling out and getting removed prematurely. They sometimes would even fall out before patients got out of the operating room

Facility deducting 2 pounds for clothing??

Call up and tell them you werent feeling well this morning, and you didnt have anything to eat or drink today or last night and that you dont think that weight accurately represents your true weight and you would like to weigh yourself again now that you ate and feel better. They SHOULD let you come back in and reweigh yourself. Ive personally seen this occur before
  8. I was eating hamburgers almost everyday at around 8-10 weeks out. Of course my version of a hamburger was 1/6th of a pound of 93% lean ground beef on a low carb/low calorie high fiber pita with a heavy dose of salt pepper ketchup. If you make a healthy version of anything you can have it sooner (and more often) than later

    Scars 6 months out

Its supported with data, but far from proven. But since I dont feel like arguing I will agree its feasible than other options and probably one of the better ways to spend youre money if youre adamant on doing something.
  10. Im not going to encourage you to experiment. But rather if you do experiment, be smart about it. I see way too many posts on here of people doing idiotic things like experimenting with fried chicken or pizza at 2 weeks out. You absolutely dont want to be one of those people. However if you do decide you want to try to push the limits, be smart and do your homework. For example I was craving eggs early on after surgery, but according to my doctors instructions no eggs until week 4 or something. However I saw tons of people on here whose doctors allowed them soft scrambled eggs much earlier and tolerated fine. So I did my "research" and "experimented" making sure to eat only a small amount of eggs and eating them VERY slow. I also did the same thing with PB2 peanut butter powder as well (adding it to smoothies, pudding, yogurt etc). These things were outside of my doctors instructions, but I did it in a slow well thought out way that wouldnt cause me distress. So basically IF you are going to be a rebel. Do it in a matter where you think research and behave in an overly cautious matter. Its a far better option than being one of those people who trys to make blended pizza 3 days out or something else ridiculous.

    Protein shakes

What I started doing recently Is mixing a full vanilla premier protein with a half scoop of the Syntrax Nectar/Lattes and maybe a tablespoon of splenda or two. If I want a little more coffee ill add some cold brew concentrate to it This bumps it up to roughly 200-210 calories and 45 g of protein. Plus it gives it a better flavor (I think) and is substantially more filling. I also find mixing protein powder with premier shakes is much better than mixing it with water (which tastes gross) or milk (which tastes great but has mediocre macros) Of course im also trying to substantially increase my protein intake to consistently get it over 1g per pound of body weight.

    Scars 6 months out

My scars are basically non existent at 7 months Although they were never bad If you have scars its likely a combo of your genetics and your skin color. And theres likely very little you can do about it Save your money, dont buy any magic beans

    Protein Intake

If generally I wait for gnc, vitamin shoppe, or bodybuilding.com to have sales and promo codes and buy a bunch then. They frequently have 20 to 25% off coupons that stack with other sales (buy one get one half off) I believe I recently bought some at GNC with a 20% coupon that stacked with their buy 1 get one half off sale. If I need something in a pinch I'll pay full price from anywhere, but generally I load up during the big sales as they are very frequent. The GNC sale is probably still running (make sure to find the promo code for 20% off if you use it) , and all of them will likely have 4th of July sales soon
  14. I didnt read through the whole thread but I was CRAVING peanut butter after surgery and I absolutely love it. So basically around a week postop I stopped drinking shakes and started making peanut butter protein pudding. Sugar free fat free vanilla pudding, skim milk (lactose free because im lactose intolerant), vanilla whey protein (lactose free because above) and pb 2 peanut butter powder. I literally ate this stuff all day every day. It was amazing at the time, but after a few weeks of it I got so sick of it I couldnt eat it since. But it got me through the early times extremely well

    Protein Intake

If you dont want to drink protein I recommend looking at protein pudding, protein fluff, protein icecream, protein mugcakes, or just easy to eat foods (scrambeled eggs eggwhites etc). I think cutesey weird products (ie gummies) arent that sustainable long term. Plus the above recipes are usually quite tastey cost effective and great protein sources

    November sleevers here

My weight loss is bizarre. Im not really trying to lose anymore (ok maybe a tiny bit) but it seems like one week my weight goes up like 4-6 pounds and the next it goes down like 8-9 Its consistently decreasing and im doing all the normal stuff weighing wise (same time clothes etc etc) Im also getting near the point where I think it could be detrimental if I lose too much weight. I got rid of all forms of running, and only lift weights and occasionally swim. Also starting to plan out probably having the abdomen tightened up when I reach my one year surgery anniversary. Its not really necessary, but I think it would be beneficial and self motivating. Especially since it drives me crazy that I can see most of my ribs, but my stomach looks a little floppy.

    Excessive skin

Start saving up for plastic surgery is the best thing you can do early for loose skin. And maybe researching plastic surgeons and asking your surgical team where they typically refer their patients
  18. One of my new treats has been expresso/cold brew coffee with premier protein, Splenda, and sugar free syrup

    Fried Chicken

Just check slickdeals.net and hunt for one to go on a GOOD sale and make sure it's the size and features you want. Odds are they are all the same ****
  20. Heh I'm up to like 12-20 a day But I will admit I feel much better now that I'm taking ludacris amounts of fiber
  21. You will get gassy if you eat too many And if you go extremely insanely overboard and have have terrible luck you could end up with a food bolus But overall I found it worth it in my experience

    Fried Chicken

I airfry fish and chicken all the time. Lean chicken, egg wash, and coconut flour (or almond) is fantastic with a tiny tiny spray of oil If you're making chicken I STRONGLY suggest you brine it. It tastes awesome and makes it juicy. I would avoid all the high fat alternatives. While fat isn't bad for you, it's high in calories. And if you're a person with a history of being very fat (cough cough all of us) I would try to keep the protein high and calories low
  23. Vitacost fiber gummies I eat way more a day than any normal person should, but it's sugar free and fiber which you can never get enough of.
  24. If you're talking about syntrax matrix it is most certainly not lactose intolerant, but syntrax nectar is. I'm not sure about the rest of their product lineup
  25. If that's all she said, I think it's pretty clear it was a compliment. Basically saying you don't look super fat. If she lectured you on it or tried to talk you out of it that's a different story. I work in a hospital that does thousands of bariatric surgeries a year and it's incredibly common for staff to say wow how's that person qualify or they're not that big. They're not insults, it's people saying they don't think you're fat. If someone trys talking you out of it or belittles you that's different
