    Hi everyone!
It's officially been a year since my SIPS (aka Modified DS) with Dr. Roslin at Lenox Hill and I couldn't be happier!
I am down 125 lbs and 25 BMI points. I had my one year check-in and everything looks good, and they told me I don't have to lose any more weight (although I think I'd be comfortable losing 5-10 more and toning.)
Now I'm planning for a Tummy Tuck and brachioplasty in a few months once my weight is stablized.
This surgery is so worth it; I can't believe the difference, not only physically, but emotionally and mentally as well. To everyone thinking about doing this or who has and may be struggling: keep at it. You won't regret it.

This thread is hilarious! I used to do sweating to the oldies with my mom, but I'm super uncoordinated and couldn't keep up with most of Richard's moves! Sizzle, I could do. Haha I get most of my cardio on the treadmill these days. I suppose the silliest things I used to think were healthy choices include drinking loads of diet coke and taking a stroll ... to the ice cream parlor.

Dear Lord - I love those Torani flavors and they ship fast. I use them for so many things. I make an iced coffee frappucino some mornings with cold brew coffee, Sugar Free Chocolate and caramel syrups, a scoop of Protein Powder and ice. There you have it - 26 grams of Protein and about 110 calories. I use them in my shakes, in coffee drinks, everything.
Think about coconut milk - I prefer the taste to that of almond or soy and it's 45 calories in a cup.
I drink my coffee black for the most part. Good luck finding a combo that works right for your tastebuds!

Oh gosh yeah if you're early out no need. It's more for 9+ months out or even years out.

And yeah vary your calories/macros. I'm not a big fan of going back to shakes for two weeks. Just a couple days a week and eat sensibly according to your plan the other days.

Sorry to hear you're feeling that way. I, personally, have so much shame and guilt about my weight to work through that I would've been really upset. I would hope that the doc had some constructive and useful feedback regarding some adjustments you might look into. Losing 23 lbs in 2 months is still pretty darn good!

There is also something called a dress clip (a colleague showed me one years ago), with which you gather up some material in the back to make the dress a smaller fit. With a cardigan or jacket, it would be hidden.

I honestly do not think the OP was meaning to be insulting, and I can see how it can be taken so. The OP was getting backed into a corner by some pre-judging members here. Rather than being supportive and having a discussion it turned into holier-than-thou bashing. I know you were trying to be helpful (and I'm NOT including you in that group that was attacking the OP).
To others in this thread, the way medical marijuana laws are changing throughout the country are a sign of the medical benefits, with minimal to no side effects. I am not one who uses it, but working in the medical industry I can see where it is FAR better of a solution than many other prescribed medications with side effects which harm organs, and are physically addictive.
This forum is about sharing of information, helping others through their journey and being a wealth of knowledge. If we turn people away, it is more than just mean, it may contribute to the issues that got us all here in the first place. Do you want to be responsible for someone quitting? How do we all feel about people judging us about our weight? Those of you being insulting, have done the same thing to the OP except used weed in place of food...
OP - you have gotten some good advice here, be honest with your surgeon. I hope you do not have an issue.

PS first time ever in a GNC, always felt awkward as a person of size. But, I think I'm done feeling that way. I'm somebody's mother. They don't like seeing a fat lady buying supplements, not my problem.

You look awesome, and so happy! I, too, hope to enjoy bike riding again and maybe even horseback riding (I love horses, but haven't been in over 10 years as I'm afraid I'd hurt the horse at my weight). I love that your post highlights the life changes as well as the new look.

I am only a week and a half out (from surgery), but I've been on a liquid diet for three and a half weeks. Before then, I cut out Desserts, alcohol, carbonated drinks, and cut down on carbohydrates in general. I also stocked up on Protein Shakes and Soups. My kids are 2 and 5, so I also got some chocolate Syrup for them. Here's why: momma's Protein shakes look like chocolate milk and they want it too! In the morning, I put my shake in a mug and they assume it's coffee (another thing I had to cut out). I make a lot of kid food that they love, but doesn't appeal too much to me. Burrito with only meat and cheese, spaghetti O's, chicken nuggets, the occasional lunchable. I do make real food, too. Recently, a lasagna. I get a lot of joy out of watching my kids eat, but the liquid diet does suck. Sometimes, my husband will supervise dinner so I don't have to be around it if I'm having a hard day.

@sleevedshereen It gets easier for sure. I moved into my puree and some really soft foods earlier than my DR. had me set on due to low energy and me feeling extremely ready for the next phase. Glad I did. I'm able to eat cheese, deli meat (which is a staple meal for me these days. Or that Ricotta Bake or a Mex Bake. And now have zero issue hitting my Protein goals. (With the shake included). Water is a tough one. I've never been a sipper so training on that... I miss being able to regularly take in 3-4 liters a day, usually crushing lots in a short time. Gone are those days.
Good luck on your journey. Its not easy but it definitely is worth it.

I have to wait a couple hours if I eat something dense. So next time I'm ready to eat, I drink a glass of Water, then wait about 5 minutes, then eat. The water leaves quick enough that it doesn't seem to affect my meal.

Hey there! I'm new to this forum. I have been a member at another board, but their anti-carb philosophy made me angry and eventually the black sheep. Anyway, I had the sleeve done in February and since then I've lost nearly 75 lbs. I lost 100 pounds before surgery which I'm glad I was able to do. I'm about 45 pounds away from my goal now.
I'm 31 years old, live in Minnesota with my cats and dog. I'm an avid reader and writer which is good since I work in a library. My job requires that I move a lot during the day, so not only has that helped with my loss, my loss has made my job easier.
Since surgery, I've been able to take up running again, I've been on an airplane for the first time in 18 years and I was able to ride a bike without the tires flattening because of my weight. I have had no regrets and I'm so grateful to have my life back.

Call after August 7 - give the scheduler a day to get back in the office, listen to the 700 voicemails and emails and start to respond and then give a call on the 8th. If you're lucky, s/he will answer the phone and say, oh, I was just about to call you. . . . .

I just saw an article on this topic written by a surgeon.
It said to avoid liquids before and after you eat- 30 min to an hour after, 30 min before.
It also said if you eat a larger meal make sure the following meal is small- it said the stomach is used to stretching and contracting so you don't want to constantly put more in than you should- one time won't do lasting damage, but continued it will get used to the stretched size.
My surgeon said that after surgery it is the size of a straw or pen but a year out it is the size of a banana.
I agree- don't test the limits. Keep portions small and chew, chew.
That's my plan. I'm only 6.5 weeks out so I'm not an expert. I rely on my professionals.

    Hi guys!
I get on here every six months or so to update y'all I've never made a topic with progress pictures before, so I thought I would this time, as I've been maintaining below goal for almost a year now.
    SW: 323
    CW: 153
    Size 24/26 to a 4/6
    No skin removal
I ran my first half marathon in February and am running another in November, which is pretty cool! When not in race training mode, I run 3-6 miles, three days per week, and do HIIT style training (heavy weights and cardio) at the gym 2-3 other days per week. I tend to fluctuate between 150-153 lbs, depending on the time of month and just general day to day food/water intake.
