Today a stranger called me skinny... Sitting in a doctor's office a woman I used to be comparable in size to asked me to trade seats with her because I had (out of old habit) sat down in a bigger chair without arms and the only seat left was a smaller chair with arms.
She walked over and blushingly embarrassed and asked if I would mind moving over to the other seat so she could sit down too. I smiled politely and told her of course. She joked that some chairs were for skinny people like me and some were for fat people like her.
I felt the hurt in what she said. I remembered it, I knew the bitter taste of those words.
I moved that armed chair closer to the unarmed chair and told her a year ago I would have needed that bigger chair. I told her I understood and that I was sorry I was thoughtless enough to even require her to ask me to trade in the first place.
We talked for a while. I told her about my RNY bypass and how in 11 months I was down 120lbs. I lost a person. I told her that in my head I still look for the bigger seats because that person from a year ago still lives in my head. I only see a real difference in pictures. The biggest change I made for myself because of that realization was to take lots of pictures. Everyday I show myself the progress I have made because I can't see it in the mirror that clearly. I showed her my pictures and she was amazed. We discussed my before and current stats including weights and measurements.
I made a friend today. She called me skinny and it felt foreign and bizarre but we touched each other's lives and found a common bond.

I can't believe the time has come. 6 months of supervised diets and two weeks of insurance approvals and the day is tomorrow. I go in tomorrow morning at 5:00am and since I have already pre registered I will just go in, take a urine sample and then get put under. I have been heavy ALL my 25 years of life. (Birthdays as a few days ago) so I'm hoping this is a new beginning for me and the 25 years I can live healthy and confident. I was only mandated a 2 day liquid diet however I would like to eat something small. Hoping I can curb this craving. At the end of the day this is all for my baby girl! I want to be healthy and not to mention stay active with her. Love seeing all the stories and advice! Good luck everyone!

I had to follow the 15min rule since I was having trouble getting fluids in and now I've reduced it to an ounce every 10mins. I tolerate warm soup/broth better than plain Water like a lot of others had said. I think I'm just waiting on swelling to go down. Also, in the mornings I have "morning sickness" where I get really nauseas and have spasms. I'm going to sip on a shake first thing tomorrow morning because I'm thinking it might be from hunger because water doesn't do the trick.

Also, had a REAL BM today that had me thanking Jesus (Sounded like Madea for a moment). [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Everything went really well. I ended up not having any drains! That made me happy. I had a rough time coming out of anesthesia, but once I did I was up and moving and didn't stop. I thought I would be in the hospital for 2 or 3 days, but I came home the next day.
The gas pain wasn't fun, but I got through it no problem.
So now what I'm wondering is how do I sip and not take in air. I have been trying, but I always end up burping every time I drink.
I'm not worried about loosing weight. I'm mostly curious to see how quickly it's going to come off.

I had my life changing surgery on August 4th, 2017.
The day of my pre-op liquid diet, I lost 11 pounds. Went from 352 to 341. On the day of surgery, my weight was 341, as my pre-op diet wasn't two weeks.
Today marks exactly two weeks since my start of the surgery and I'm down to 320. That is a 32 pound drop in less then a month, with 21 pounds being lost in two weeks. Hopefully it continue.
I yet to feel hungry and it seems hard to even drink my three Protein Shakes daily.
We'll get there. Picture of myself as of 8/17/17

Well, I am less than 24-hours out from my GS surgery. I am first up on Monday (8/21) which means I arrive at the hospital at 6 am and in theory will have my procedure at 730 am. I have to acknowledge that reading these forums has been invaluable. I am not sure mentally I would have been able to get from here to there without this resource. Every time I have a question or a doubt, I jump to the forums. And the knowledge here and the encouragement from so many posters has usually calmed my nerves. That said, I do have just a little bit of pre-op jitters but mostly feel strong that this is the best thing for me. My recent high weight is around 327, I am down pre-op to around 312.5 ... and the pre-op diet (3 shakes a day and a small meal with Protein and a veggie) hasn't been too difficult for me. Anyhow, I am hoping all will go well. I'll check back in and post when I can. I am sure the next few days will be challenging but I am hoping for the best.

I'm not being nasty.. & if I am I'm not trying to come of as such, I'm happy I'm losing my weight finally & it's staying off for once in my life & then some one comes at me like "that's not right" no way my efforts won't be put down!! I don't like when someone is trying to tell me.. About me, how could anyone correct me on that. Alot of people on here like to talk to people like there doctors or Like they know it all.... And quick to want to correct someone's journey.. I'm not going for it. But again can't compare my journey to a million that's been heard in a decade.. Everyone is different that's all I'm saying, I'm not the only one to lose fast won't be the last, But it is very possible ....

A friend of mine gave me some great lip balm in a little gift before surgery. With the dry mouth and lips- it was a real life saver. Also had some great smelling coconut lotion my hubby put on my legs and feet to help me feel human. Other than a change of clothes for home, I didn't use a single other thing I brought (never even showered there) except for my phone charger. I only stayed overnight.

You'll be fine. Remember the pre op diet is to help shrink your liver so try not to cheat. Also, seems all of our pre ops are different. I had to have shakes for 2 meals and one real meal of a lean Protein and all the vegetables I wanted. Also included 2 Snacks. So I found my diet to be pretty easy. Lost 16lbs. By sticking to it! Told my surgeon if only we could eat like that for the long term without the surgery! Good luck!

Hope our 8/16 group is doing well!!

Luckily, because I'm young and healthy my cold wasn't a problem and surgery went as scheduled! Had a hiatal hernia repair along with the sleeve. I'm relaxing with some dilaudid right now and still battling the anesthesia nausea. Overall feel pretty good. They tell me I don't look like I just had surgery. Guess that's a good thing. Lol.
