I was sleeved on July 18. At the start of my journey I weighed in at 303. The morning of surgery I weighed 279. Today I weigh 230. I feel like a new man!!!

I was diagnosed with diabetes late last year. From the second day post op I have been diabetes free and 100% OFF all meds!!!

My NUT said I can have wine or a shot but not for at least the first month or two. It should not replace a meal.

Listen to your doctor, he/she knows your body better than any of us. I'm 5 days post op and walking between 5-10k steps. Tried to do some resistance training on arms today, just band work, but I think I overdid it. Going to chill a bit and just focus on healing. Good luck! Sounds like you are doing great!

Anyone walking yet? Any other exercises good for toning? My body is starting to feel super soft. I've been walking 1.5 miles 4 days per week.

They don't have to say they had surgery cause its none of our business; however, I don't think it's right to be charging folks and using their weight loss to do it. I would send a personal message and let them know you know and how you feel. Then just let it be.

I think you could add squats and lunges but absolutely nothing with added weight or crunches. You are doing great with you walking. Think of how long it took to get on. Give it time to come off. Keep up the great work.

You feel soft because your fat is breaking up. I used to think I had these massive muscles, but nope it was just solid fat. When I lost enough fat I could feel my muscles I knew the difference.
The first 6 weeks are for healing. Not exercising not losing weight. Your goal is to heal.
Walking is great exercise and will get you prepped to do more once you are healed.
The muscles in your abdomen have been cut. The last thing you want is a hernia.

Don't do situps 2 weeks postop. A hernia is the last thing you want! 6 weeks of just walking! In a couple months, you can go nuts in the gym.
Yes, you'll lose strength and muscle tone, but those things will come back quickly once you get back in the gym. No worries! Take this time to learn about your new tummy, and heal up. You just had major surgery!

It's damn near impossible the first few days. Like the person above me says, closer to two weeks. I'm 11 days post op and I'm still struggling with Water although I can get my Protein Shakes in no problem. 64oz is a goal to work up to. Don't force it, you'll only make yourself miserable. Remember all liquids count towards the goal. Warm liquids go down better also...

"Thanks for your concern, but my doctor has me on a restricted diet - I have to be careful due to my surgery and will be eating this way for some time to come. Would you like me to pass the donuts to you?"
Keep repeating that. Over and over. Sooner or later, they will get the message.

Old2NewMe reacted to GotProlactinoma in 7 days post op - full?
I'm 5 days out and yesterday I really didn't improve much on getting my fluids or Protein in. So I am really weak today. I am intellectually interpreting the weakness as "hunger" meaning my body needs more, especially protein. I don't feel hunger like I used to either.
and when I drink either protein or Water, it is those kinds of gas / fullness sensations in my stomach that has me waiting longer between sips or giving up and waiting 30 mins. It's new and weird but we will get through this.
our baby stomachs are recovering and new so we don't need to feel "full," we just need to baby them, is how I'm thinking about it. Today my goal is to get at least half maybe 3/4 of the required protein. That would be huge.

The first 24 hours was the worst I ever felt in my life!! The gas felt like a constant heart attack and they couldn't sustain the nausea. I was throwing up blood etc. after I fought through it I started to feel better. Not to mention I still had to walk. Sore, weak and tired now but on pain meds. So I feel good once I have that. Just got home a few hours ago.
