  1. I finally gave Premier Protein shakes a chance. I picked a 4 pack of chocolate (I'm a chocolate kinda gal)

i might be the only person to think this, but those things are terrible! They're thick and gritty, no wonder people have such a hard time with the pre/post op liquid diets. Now, I'm cheap, and they were expensive, so I did pour them into my morning coffees until they were gone. Long story short-Blech🤢That is all. :)

I agree with @Yettid . I didn't like them at first, but you get used to them. Although I wouldn't drink them if I didn't have to, but I think they are the best tasting protein shakes I've had.

You, my friend, are not alone!!! I had to do 2 weeks of Protein preop and 4 weeks of Postop and they were the easiest drink to find. But I didn't like them at all!!! I also had severe "Back Door Trots with them" after all was said and done I talked to my PA about my serious trots and he said you are more than likely Lactose Intolerant!!! Thank you so much 6 weeks of wearing GIGANTO PADS sometimes double if I had to go anywhere. That could not have happened!!! THANKS for nothing!! LOL I now have GENEPRO unflavored that I add to my Espresso every day. If only!!!!

    Dealing with new attention

I would think if you were single, then appreciate the attention, if someone holds open a door for me, I run the extra step or two and make eye contact and smile. They might just have great manners, but they might think you're hot sh*t! Enjoy It!! I have always been a very forward person, and after gaining over 100lbs when I met my fiance, the only time I really noticed how big I had gotten was when I looked in the mirror, and the comments I made about myself were probably more hurtful than what anybody else would think. I have come a short way on a long journey, but mentally getting rid of my fat barrier is a difficult process. For example, my fiance and I dance around and he dips me, and I instinctively scream in horror, and every time I have to literally remind myself that he is Not going to break his back, and he won't have any trouble picking me up. Its been a difficult mind shift. I've lost excessive weight before on my own, and being 5'10 I was 170lbs (which I carry well thankfully) brought a lot of attention, and yes it gets SO comfortable, people are so nice you don't it to end. You can't help but smile(bringing even MORE attention), I remember that clothes shopping was my reward for hitting weight goals, so I got to walk around in nice outfits, feeling so accomplished about what I had done, and I would intentionally make eye contact with people to see who was looking at me (a tad vain, but it kept me motivated at the time) As for rejecting people, remember to smile, thank them for offering but say you can't/won't at the time etc.. Be really canadian about it, with all the apologies and what not. If someone if uncomfortably flirting with me, I make sure to do the 'thinking pose' while talking, but with my left hand on my chin so that they are blinded by the giant diamond ring on my finger, it typically works

    Pain when taking in liquids

I had this type of issue, about ten or so seconds after I drank liquids there was a pain on my right side. I noticed it the first night post op. When I took my barium swallow the next day, I watched the screen and saw that my pain was happening when liquids went from stomach to small intestine. My intestine was full of gas and was swollen and was causing the pain. I asked specifically about my pain and he said anywhere up to two weeks I could retain gas. Just my story, thought I'd share hope yours gets better

    Premier Protein!

My pre-op plan (so I'm assuming that carries over to my post-op time) specifically says not to have premier. My point however is that I saw them at superstore today (I was curious..) and they are 4 for $15.25!! I've heard they're good, luckily I enjoy my protein shakes so I'm not too worried, but they do seem to have some interesting flavors in the states

How did your stall go? Any tips or methods you've used?

    How can spouse help?

-make sure there's no crap food in the house -even if I stop at the chip aisle he'll say "do we need those" to which I pout and answer no. One of the most helpful things is that he understands I can and am going to be emotional about random crap, he knows when to just listen to me be upset with some encouraging words, and when to just hug me and tell me that I'll get over my stall and that it's not the end of the world. I also do my best to be in a very happy mood when I'm with him, because he does so much for me. I've only once had to deal with pizza leftovers in the house. I guess that's another one, we don't eat out anymore, it has saved us a lot of money and saved me agony of not being able to eat anything. He's also lost like 10lbs in the process(didn't need to lose any!) haha

  11. I was excited for something other than shakes just like many people. I had protein shakes and clear water for 3 weeks pre-op, water for 6 days, and then back to protein shakes and clear liquid for 17 days. I had finally made it to the puree stage, it was like waking up on christmas morning. 5 meals of 1oz. a day sounded amazing, until.... >95% of everything I tried to eat came right back up within minutes. The exceptions beings coffee, protein shakes, and oatmeal. After literally spending more time puking than eating. I wish I had known I would lose the desire to eat because of its overwhelming effects of my hunger. (Yes naturally I've spoken with my nutritionist who said it will just take longer, and to stay on a full liquid for another week, which I am doing happily)

    Fiber

I have the same issues, I combat them as best I can with probiotics that mix into anything, and every day I drink kefir milk to help colonize my GI tract. I also eat prunes occasionally, they are sugar laden but delicious and a great way to handle a sugar craving
